Is that per the doctor's orders not to exercise with bruised ribs? I hope they heal quickly. When will you get the OK to exercise again?

You may be surprised to find yourself back on the elliptical sooner than you think! That machine is so very kind to the body. Just remember to start out slow(er) and easy. There will always be time to challenge yourself when you are 100% healthy again.

Hi I just joined the team. I love my Elliptical but I have some bruised ribs right now. I don't think I will be on the elliptical for a few weeks.

We bought the NordicTrack 990. I LOVE it. It has a spot for the IFIT cards. I love them also. A place for an MP3 player. It folds up, easy to move. It is one of the best investments we have ever made.

I agree with your disclaimer 100%.

That's also why I mentioned the website info and the fact that they have telephone and internet customer service available to assist with the buying process if needed. Because they know they don't have many brick & mortar stores, they invest in excellent CSRs who can help if people do decide to buy from them.

And if anyone finds a Smooth Fitness machine for sale on Craigslist, definitely go take a look!

Thank you SO MUCH for the review! I really appreciate hearing people's experiences with buying ellipticals for their home usage.

I did want to mention - as a disclaimer more than anything - that buying an elliptical sight unseen can be risky. Not only for the obvious financial investment, but also because not all ellipticals are suitable for all body types. I am short and I have foot issues, so the stride length and the incline of the foot pedals are very important issues for me.

But having said that, I'm tickled pink that your new elliptical experience went so well! Especially the part about it being so quiet! Very VERY important!!!

Just to check in - I bought a Smooth Fitness Agile DMT X1 elliptical machine. Took a chance on buying it online, sight unseen, knowing I could return it if there were issues (30 day return for any reason).

Smooth Fitness makes ordering easy, and has plenty of customer service if you're trying to decide what to buy, as well as an excellent website.

The elliptical was delivered by a local moving/shipping company on July 20. My husband and I put it together on July 18, and it took us about 2 hours (thankfully he's mechanically inclined - I would have paid the $99 for them to install it after delivery!).

It's whisper quiet. My husband was asleep not 10 feet away, and I did 32 min on the elliptical, and he only woke up when I was breathing heavier near the end of the workout, not because of the noise of the machine!

It has a lot of programs and you can make your own custom programs. I think the calorie count is probably accurate, as it figures in height, weight, age, and gender, and so while the calories burned is lower than on other ellipticals, I believe it's more accurate that way.

It's a great machine, and while it's a chunk of $, it's worth it for me! I got up and did 32 min on it this morning, and hoping to do another 32 min while watching tv tonight.

I hear ya on the waiting part, especially. My gym has tons of ellipticals but only **FOUR** of the brand/type I like to use.

There are days when everyone else likes those 4 machines as well. So then I have to wait or do something else. I usually go do something else. It's a PITA. And we don't always have the luxury of having the time to kill until a machine opens up.

LOVE IT!!!

I love the ellipticals at my college gym, but it's about 30 minutes away and I can get so much done in that hour drive! Plus, they are very popular and I hate having people wait.

Woo-hoo! -- you have your own elliptical! It sounds like it was a good idea to invest in one of your own, because your schedule is so packed.

I use the ones at the gym, which has its benefits too, but I'd still like one at home to use. Well, maybe some day.....

Thank you for the welcome, SheWrites1! Mine is a bit older as well, but I love it anyway. I know my digital calories are low since it didn't ask for my weight and I am a bit hefty. I am rather shy at the (college) gym as well, so I enjoy it here.

Welcome VanillaBear, I have an elliptical but its an older model. I think the digital calories expenditure is a little low. yeah its nice to have 1 in the house, otherwise I kind of think of SP as my virtual gym. Actually I'm probably more social on this site than I would be at a gym. Kinda shy:))

I bought an elliptical about a month ago and have been using it consistently for the past 3 weeks (the first week was awful!). I love it and while I got a great deal on it, it was still a chunk of change, but so worth it for my lifestyle. I am a student, with the main campus being 30 minutes away and the only one with a gym, and I work 3rd shift.

to the team AMDRAXIA! I use the ones at the gym too. It's good for me to get out of the house. I don't seem to be able to remain disciplined if I have the machine at home.

We have a huge loft space in downtown Minneapolis, so we kind of have an area that houses the bike trainer, the rowing machine, the exercise mat, and the bike racks to hang our bikes. It's the area in between our bedroom area and my office area.

I'll definitely post a review of it once I get some time on it. I already have the UPS tracking #, and it'll probably be here in 7-10 business days.

I just ordered my elliptical last night, after doing my research and getting the green light from my wonderful husband. I started using an elliptical here in the fitness room at work, and found it to be fun, as well as great exercise, and something I would do consistently, if I had access to a machine.

I also am more likely to exercise if I can just get up and do it. I could drive into work at 5:30 am to use the elliptical, but it'd be nicer to get out of bed, work out, and get ready at home.

I ordered a Smooth Fitness Agile DMT X1. I'm intrigued by the range of motion, and the units seem to get good reviews.

I'm looking forward to getting the elliptical - it's perfect for rainy days when I can't get out for a bike ride.

I'm so excited!

Hi!!! Although I'm not really new, this team is new for me. I have enjoyed the elliptical for a while. I must say, IMO, I think it has done more good than any one piece of gym equipment out there. I know that I am fortunate for my son to have purchased my LIFE FITNESS X9 for me a couple of birthdays ago. He is pleased that it has NOT gone unused. I'm glad I found this team and love Sparklers!!!! Have a great weekend, Sparkfriends. Mary Ann

Yes, Vision Fitness is one of the better models that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. (Which is not to say that it's cheap. No, it's still a chunk of change.)

Thanks for the welcome. The elliptical is a vision fitness made in Milwaukee,WI. They have excellent products. They're sold through US Fitness Stores in NC. We went back 2 years ago to buy weights & a stationary bike. We told them we still had the elliptical we bought from them. They really take a beating and perform well. Expensive, but my husband uses it every day for at least an hour.

It's really paid off, b/c the way we eat we'd be twice the size of our house by now if we didn't have the equipment. :))

I have an elliptical that is so old that they don't make these anymore. It's old because it has no arms.
But it still works after 11 years, so why not? right!

In fact I use it so much I had to replace both wheels over the years, and the company was great about it. Shipped @ no cost.

Anyway, I'm glad to be here.
