Today was my first day! I have welcomed 2013 with open arms and an open mind. I have a lot of layers to shed; some emotional and obviously some of another kind......blubber.

I have always struggled to maintain a healthy weight, as I am sure many on here have. I have decided this year is the year that I will get off of this hamster wheel. I am going to look at food in an entirely different way, that is the only way I will be able to break this cycle that I have been on for far too many years. I need to see food as fuel and nothing more. I have often used food as a reward, or to help me feel better when I was feeling low. But it has only served as one thing; it has made me a miserable, self loathing person.....I can not stand it anymore. So this is going to be my Renaissance year!

I am hoping that by using Sparkpeople and its various tips, forums and tools, I will can become a slimmer, better version of my old self, who I have not seen in some time.
I also hope by utilizing this gathering spot, I will be inspired, make some friends and hopefully inspire someone else through my success!
