When I had a lot of weight to lose, I made the committment to do several things. One was to start and maintain an exercise streak (7 days a week, no matter what). The other was that I was going to blog every single day about it. It helped, for sure. There were days I didn't want to go outside and walk/jog/run but I did and then wrote about the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other, both trying to convince me to either blow it off or go do it. In every case, the angel won and I'm over 500 days consecutive cardio now.
The other things I discovered was that I had to track my calories consumed. I didn't start losing consistently until that happened.
I discovered that strength training is a better way to raise the metabolism so I added strength to my workouts.
Finally, my aim was to get 100 Spark Points a day. It kept me coming back, reading articles, interacting with others, and staying on track.
A little every day can produce dramatic results over time -- be consistent, however you find works best for you.

How is it that I basically spend all day everyday worrying about my weight and health yet the scale keeps creeping upwards and I keep putting crap food in my mouth? I'm not sure but I know I need to change. I'm 26, female, 5'2" and 180lbs. I have high cholesterol as well. I eat too many processed foods and not enough fresh whole foods. But I plan on changing that today! I also don't exercise as much as I should. I used to run often but for the past 6-8 weeks I stopped secondary to some foot pain. I plan on starting to run again in another 4 weeks after my foot is better but I need to start doing some other form of exercise as well. I don;t belong to a gym so any tips/recommendations for workout videos would be helpful for cardio/strength training. I own jillian michaels 30 day shred but I can probably only handle listening to her twice a week so I would like to add 1-2 dvd's to my collection. Also, any weight loss tips or advice would be helpful too!

Please feel free to add me while I try to muddle through this weight loss!
