I have been on a yo-yo as far as weight goes all my life. I have lost and re-gained many times. I am using a spark coach now. This will be helpful.

Hi Kim, Try not to be discouraged. I know it is frustrating when you are doing everything the way you should and not seeing the right results. Keep in mind that it could be water weight from your muscles retaining more water from the extra walking. It could be that your weight is actually muscle gain and not fat. Keep at it and see what happens. Sometimes we have to spend time figuring out what will work and what doesn't and sometimes we will never figure everything out but just keep plugging away! You will get there. emoticon emoticon

I am recently new to SparkPeople and new as of today to SparkCoach. Two weeks ago I started SparkPeople and weighed in at 175. I weighted in today at 178. Also in this time frame I changed jobs at work. Instead of siting down in a call center for 8 hrs a day for the past year, I am now walking around 6-9 miles a day, just to do my job. I track my food and have to be careful, for I am a type 2 diabetic. I eat the number of cal's recommended, but I am discouraged at this time. Any suggestions would be great. :0)

Blessing,
Kim

Hi Everyone!
My name is Sarah, and I joined SparkCoach because I am stuck in a rut. I've been sparking for almost two years now. I love it. I lost about 40 lbs, and made amazing physical and mental changes. I took small steps and permanently made lifestyle changes. I even sparked my family, so we are all eating healthy and encouraging each other. However, just now, things aren't going so well. Professionally, I have just finished a Master Degree, but am struggling on the job hunt front. Personally, I am single. Healthwise, I now have tendinitis in my knee. So training the way I used to isn't possible. I now need to relearn how I can train in a way that works for me. So I look forward to Sparking with you all, and sharing mutual support!

Hello Spark Friends!
I am Mario from Turin, NW of Italy. Initially just for fun and then with more awareness and attention, I began to follow the Spark People community last May. Due to the geographical distance probably we will not meet in person but I would call you friends because, as at night the stars light up the way of the traveler, your testimonials accompany me and encourage me in searching my physical well-being.
I still have a long way to go. My initial target is BMI=25 (planned in May 2013) and with your support I would like to achieve it. The following step will be to maintain it, but for the time being this is another story.
Friendly I wish you to control stress well, to have fun with fitness and to be free in front of food. In a few words I wish you to be happy and to find the treasure that is in you.

Amanda, I know what you mean by not wanting to gain. I've done that...and a funny little saying that packs a lot of meaning that someone told me once is this: Give up go up (in weight). Hang in, get thin. You can do this!

Jenn, I am a mom of 4 also and like you...gained during pregnancy. Never took the weight off but added more with each of them. I'm PROUD of your for quitting smoking. My sister is battling lung cancer right now and it's not looking good. She tried so many times to quit. HANG IN THERE! You got this! My son has asthma...do you use an inhaler? His doctor suggests he use it before beginning exercise to avoid an attack. Also, try doing smaller amounts of exercise in short stints of time. Your doctor may be able to suggest something for you too. They usually have print outs that they can give you for suggestions on things you can do. Best wishes!

Loving the sparkcoach too F8Cone! I had to laugh when I read what your wrote because we just went to a natural something or the other who confidently told us we needed to be eating raw foods and drinking his suppliments...and mind you, was telling us how many years he had been on this plan and yet was sporting his own gut. emoticon

Hi, my name is Amanda! I'm 26, married and I work full time. I weigh roughly 295 lbs, (my scale broke when I moved) and I want so desperately to loose weight for me.

I often look in the mirror when I'm alone and see the person I want to be, but if there is someone else near me, I see how "big" I am. My husband supports me greatly and reminds me that I am beautiful. There's a part of me that also wants to loose weight to show him what I see in a mirror. I'm honestly scared to change but I know I don't want to gain any more weight.

I'm not trying to take over this forum here. lol! I just started answering one and didn't want anybody to feel left out. lol! ...that and I don't like chatting with myself so if I chat enough maybe somebody will chat back. LOL!
Holly, I COMPLETELY agree with you. It is confusing because everyone has their own idea about foods and what is good and or bad. We have food allergies in our family. Between what we SHOULD eat and what we CAN eat..it's chaotic. lol! Best wishes! Don't give up. You will find what is best for your body. Somebody once told me to stop listening to everybody and listen to myself. That's all we can do sometimes.

Hello.

I'm 35,a stay at home mom of 2 with ADHD and wife to a disabled Navy Veteran. I have a back injury, requires surgery I can't afford right now, so exercise is hard for me to do. Looking to lose weight to help take some of the pressure off my back and feel better about myself. I need all the motivation I can get.

Remember...no matter how hard it seems today... everything happens for a reason and in the end..it is all worth it.

Hi Everybody! I just read the last few entries and I'm happy to join you all. My real name is Cynthia and I am 54 and I weigh about 230 pounds. I have many physical problems which I won't go into here, except to say that I am forbidden to exercise in the traditional sense and I have a very strict diet. 25 years ago I was a runner, swimmer, dancer, and weighed 120 pounds. The weight came on slowly; I would assume I was depressed and start to exercise more. This is worse possible thing for my condition. I would end up sick in bed. I thought I got every cold that came along. I didn't know it was permanent infections. It was years before I got diagnosed and I still get little support from the medical community or my social circle either. I'm looking forward to working with people, although there are days I am too sick to sign on. I am housebound and ready for the camaraderie of other people who are taking their health in their own hands, at whatever level. I've been with Sparkpeople off and on for several years. I need more support than that and I'm hoping this program will tip the balance for me to stick with my program.

If there is no Earth on which humans and other species can thrive, nothing else matters, nothing.

Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer, I'm 43 & from Portland Oregon. I have been on SparkPeople three weeks now, and have taken off almost ten pounds since then. I n the last year though, I've lost 50 lbs. My goal is to lose 190 lbs. more, and (finally) get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (my "baby" is 20).
Lately, I've been feeling my enthusiasm wane, so that's kinda why I just started SparkCoach today--to get revved-up again

My name is Jenn. I am 35 years old and mother to 4. I was never over 100 lbs till my first son was born. On average thru my 20's and 30's, unless I was pregnant, my average weight was 125-130. I quit smoking Dec. 31, 2011. I have not had one slip up emoticon . But I have substituted food for cigarettes. I am now 168 lbs. I suffer from asthma, depression and body dysmorphia. I am so upset with my weight gain I often feel overwhelmed how to fix it. I am praying for change and support. I am lost though on what exercises I can do with asthma. Any help, advice or support will be greatly appreciated.

I believe it isn't how many times you fall that count but how many times you pick yourself up. I've been Sparking for a long time and initially lost 50 pounds. I gained all but 15 back and I know I have to reconnect and recommit to get it off and keep it off. Spark Coach came along just in time. You see almost all of my co-workers are going to a diet guru who is selling plant based and exotic foods. They are all losing weight and exercising and so it is great. I just have problems believing the weirdness of eating tree bark. Anyway, it is good to exercise with my friends and to lose weight together and I know I can do this and Spark can help.

I did the trial and was impressed so now I'm in for the long haul.

I've been on sparkpeople off and on for awhile, but lately I've been having some health issues and been going to a bunch of different doctors and different tests with little results so I decided to do some research about healthier ways of eatting. I'm trying a gluten free diet as well. it seems like every other website lists a different food as being unhealthy, it all gets a little confusing.

Hi, my name is Joanne. This is my first week and I have been tracking my food very carefully. Unfortunately my weight went in the wrong direction. So my first short term goal is to connect with some people who are motivational! I live in the Caribbean and work way too much-there's another goal in there. Looking forward to connecting.

Hello my name is Demetra and I am pushing the big 40 with a smile. I have a very hard trying staying on track with getting motivated to work out and staying on a decent healthy eating plan. I am going in again starting this week cold turkey, let's see what happens. My best motivator this week. "My 14 year old son's friends think I am his sister, gotta keep that up" wish me luck. Good luck to all.

Hi,
My name is Kelly. I am a stay at home Mom but I also take care of my Mom who has moderate Dementia and has lived with us for almost 2 years. I have a 7 yr old little girl who has soo much energy and it is so hard to keep up with her! But I love that she is so active, hate to have her have the same issues with weight that I have had most of my life. I am trying to set up a schedule that allows me to get to the gym, care for my Mom and also go in to my husband's shop and take care of the office work. I had a goal for my 45th Birthday next month but have had too many setbacks to make it come true. So now I have set out on a new journey and pray that this time I will be successful.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! emoticon

Hello All! I'm Sue and just getting started here on SparkPeople. Love the SparkCoach section! I'm using the videos as a sort of "homework"/focus work during the day. Set my fast break goals and enjoying the process of tracking the good things I'm doing for myself. Feels great!

emoticon Hi! I'm Michelle, & I hail from the gorgeous Fraser Valley in southwest BC, Canada.

I've been a member of SP for quite a while now, although I've not been totally consistent with my attendance here. I am serious about losing weight &, more importantly, improving my health & fitness, & I thought I'd try the SparkCoach programme during the free trial to see how it goes for me with it. If I like it, I'll keep on with it at the end because I know it'll be well worth the cost.

Weight's been something I've struggled with my whole life. I had one thin period, but that was partly as a result of a lot of personal stuff that I was dealing with that led to bulimia. Thankfully, active bulimia - as I call it - wasn't something I went through for a long time. Stagnant bulimia, though, was. By this I mean that I was still tempted to go through the whole binge & purge cycle, but I didn't give in any longer, thankfully.

Right now I'm working straight nights & have been doing so for an entire year. So it's a struggle for me to figure out what works best as far as when to get in a decent amount of exercise & when to get in proper meals. Well, I've come up with some solutions that're working, & last night I realised something else, that there are 3 days during my set of 4 shifts (I have one one night off, one on, one off, & 4 off) that're pretty well shot since I sleep so much because I'm so tired. However, that leaves 3 days during which I can exercise & get in my cardio. At work on my shifts, I do take short walks around the store if it's quiet, which it is most of the year, & that's something as well.

Coming to realise things & putting them into action are two steps towards reaching my goals of weight loss & improved health & fitness, & I'm sure that SparkCoach will be a great help in this.

I have been trying to setup a healthy lifestyle but after the first two months I cannot do it alone anymore, just too many distractions around. I m tired of giving up on my diet every night and starting over every morning. I hope that SparkCoach will help me to stay focused and consistent.

Welcome to new team members.
I have found Spark Coach so helpful as I feel like I must stick with the program by checking in every day. When I check in I do all six of the steps so I am learning, getting motivation and tracking. All ways to help me be successful.

I hope all of you have a successful week.

I am Sally. I have been a member of sparkpeople for many years and just started up on Sparkcoach. I am a martial artist who just went back to training after taking a 10 year break to have children. I have very black/white thinking. I am either all in or all out!

Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles...it empties today of its strength.

I am Jenn. I am on my official day one or two... not sure. I thought to sign up to see if it would help me get some guidance. I live in the south in the UK now with my husband. I am having issues with my Thyroid, I think and which is why I have not lost any weight despite all my efforts the last 6 weeks. I am seeing the doctor tomorrow.. but I still wanted guidance.
