Hey! i started Spark people for the first time a few weeks ago. I'm finally figuring out all the message boards, and stuff on here. I'm hoping to meet some friends to support each other during the weight loss journey.

I'm 28, mom of a 4 year old boy, wife to military guy, and night shift worker. I think a lot of my weight loss issues come from working night shift (i've been doing it for 7 years now) And its hard to know when to eat, and also have the energy to workout.

So far, SP has really helped me with calorie counting. I told myself i wanted to get my eating under control for a few weeks before i started exercizing. So, the exercizing is soon to start! Nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone! I'm Teah, 28 years old, a kindergarten teacher, and loving wife of 3 years. We are currently trying to conceive our first child and I don't want my weight to be a negative factor in the process.
I am new to sparkpeople, but not to weight loss. Last year I lost 40lbs and was so excited... only to gain 30 of it back. I'm hopingf sparkpeople will give me the toold and motivation I need to make a life change instead of just dieting.

Hello, I recently joined and am trying to lose about 20 lbs. I lost 25 lbs last year and kept off 20 lbs. I am determined to lose this excess weight gained after the birth of my 2 children. Obesity runs in my family and I must stay far away from it.

I'm Jacquie and I have been married almost 19 years. I am 38 with two daughters 16 yo and 9 yo. I work at home as a home childcare provider for 3 infants/toddlers and I also teach trainings for home childcare providers. I have been overweight my whole life but it has gotten really bad since the birth of my 2nd daughter for various reasons and REALLY bad in the last year due to a lot of stress in my family. But I want to and NEED to get healthier for my children -- even the daycare ones. It isn't easy keeping up with three babies/toddlers! So I am soooooo committed to it this time! Now I just need to get my family to commit! Nice to meet you all! emoticon

I also have a strong family history of cardiovascular disease to which I lost both of my parents. I am approaching 40 in a couple of years and want to be healthy and present for my family. Hi-I am a 50 year old woman soon to be married 24 years with a 19 year old daughter and 15 year old son. My daughter just completed her first year of college, my son is loving high school & flies in and out of home with a crazy schedule. My job is part time, but salaried so working full time...and it is intense. The first anniversary of my dad's death is in July & I cared for him with my family thru hospice. A lot has and will keep changing, as it should, but at times I feel lost. Sort of surprised when I read the description, because time has flown. I now have pockets of time where I am again feeling the need to take better care of me, and weight loss of 40-50 pounds would be a great start. Life is good, but I would like to feel better about myself when I look at pictures. This age thing surely has caught up on me. I like the inside of who I am becoming...now my outside needs to reflect it.

I'm in the same boat but I'm kind of exited i get to try this out with other people... emoticon I am 19 and have gained about 20 pounds in about 3 months... I cant wait to get started.... Hi everyone, I'm a 40 year old mother of 3 and grandmother of 2 girls. I have had health problems for the last 3 years and in that time have ballooned to 213lbs. Hello! Today is my first day on the site and I'm excited to see all of the benefits it has to offer. I have done EVERY diet in the past, including the new Weight Watchers Points Plus...but eating 'free' fruits and vegetables didn't seem to work for me. Counting calories is much easier for me to follow, so hopefully I find success here. =)

Hello all ~

Hi, I'm Sydni. I'm really glad to be here. I have been up and down in my weight for the past 12 years, and I'm only 26! It was always something that was an issue after I stopped playing sports and kept eating terrible. It was easy to lose the weight in high school, basically just cutting out junk food and eating more vegetables. However, I kept going up and down over the years. I thought I would join SparkPeople in order to stay on it, rather than go up in weight again. My biggest excuse is probably: I don't have enough time or am too tired to exercise. Hopefully I will get to where I will at least go for a walk or do a short video of some kind.

Hi my name is Nina and I've never done anything like this before. I have been trying to lose weight any way that I can find. I need help with keeping my weight goals because I get very anxious and expect results quickly. I started a diet that consist of 2 replacement shakes and a low calorie meal with the option of low calorie snacks and as many fruits and vegetables as I want. I also do a sea salt water cleanse every Sunday. I alternate which meals to replace so that my weight wont plataeu. I started this diet on April 22nd, weighing 197.4. After 3 weeks I weighed 192.4, but then I started cheating and gained 2 pounds back. That's what made me try this site.

Hey, Jessie here. I take am excited to have made the decesion to change my life and get rid of some of this weight. I work 4 days a week at a gas station and have a small hobby farm. I am currently at 233 lbs hope to drop to at least 167. That would be where I was 11 years ago. I am 40 years old and getting older fast..lol

Hello everyone I hope you do not mind me joining this group. I have been with spark off and on for a while. I have taken an extended spark break then even started up and again only to take another break due to medical conditions and just a busy life.

But I know Spark people can work! But you need a support system. Being I do not have much of one in the real world. I am hoping to get the support I need from those here at spark people.

I also know from past experience I can get too involved with teams. So I decided not to go with a team that matches my hobbies or interest but intead a team who is starting fresh like me.
So I hope even though I did not join this week, I am starting this week and that it is okay to join your team!


Some days you'll be Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and maybe even Grumpy. But I hope your always Happy at the end of the day!

PINK Method is a program made for women that was on Dr. Phil & the Doctors back in December. It's an exercise/diet program. I don't think there is a lot of extra information that you can't find here on SP, but I do like the recipes. Also, I'm a vegan, and the nutritionist that made the program is vegan so I know the information and recipes will be healthy and fit with the diet.

Hi all. I was a member of sparkpeople for several ;years then left but realized that was a big mistake so I am back.
Sorry about the loss of your family member. It can knock you for a loop. My nephew was killed in a car accident a couple of months ago and I tried to eat my way through the pain and gained back all the weight I had lost over the past year. After much prayer and soul searching I realized David wouldn't want that to happen.
I am a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for several years started out well then it became my social time. So need to make some changes there too. I have still held on to about 22 lbs of the 40 I had lost with TOPS.
I am 58 married (40 years in Oct) 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren)
I am determined to make things work this time around with the help of spark people and TOPS.
May I ask what is PINK method?

Hello everyone!

I'm Erica! Back in December (after all the hype) I got the P.I.N.K. Method diet plan for Christmas and was all amped up! I lost 15lbs and I got married to my boyfriend of 5 years! Things were going great, and the happiness of everything just kept me going.

Then a close family member passed away. It really seemed to set into motion a ton of things that just added more and more stress to my life including the death of a child in our family. Although I liked the PINK Method diet and exercise plan, the online support was lacking. When I needed that extra boost I just didn't have it.

It's been a few months since I've let things go and regress back to my old self. I'm even up a few pounds, which I blame on the many nights of emotional eating. This time I'm not doing it for a day or a moment in time when I want to look amazing, I'm doing it for me. So I can be healthy and happy (and also so I can look good all the time!).

Hello, I have been using WW tracker, but not losing weight. Found over last two weeks I had a better experience tracking calories and work outs. As I was about to renew WW, I remembered seeing an ad for SparkPeople. I set up my account last night and realized this is a better fit for me. I have been trying to lose weight for over a year, but really began taking this serious March 15th. I just turned 40 two weeks ago, and I am looking forward to getting back into shape to enjoy this next decade.

Hi guys! My name is Caren, and I come to you from Sunny San Diego, CA. I, too, am a repeat Sparker. Last time I lost 100 pounds in about 9 months. It took a few years, but all those amazing habits disappeared and I gained the majority of that weight back. Hey all! I'm Niki. I am 24 years old. I am from the mountains of North Carolina. I am a returning member to Spark People. The first time I had alot of success and lost about 30 pounds, but then I gained it back and got discouraged. So heres to round two of hopefully having better luck! My goal is to get down to 150 pounds by Christmas and going to celebrate by treating myself to an entire new wardrobe for a Christmas gift to myself. Hopefully I can meet my goal!

Hi All,

I'm Megan and a return user to SparkPeople. Although technically rejoining a day early for this group it is night time & I won't be starting my goal till tomorrow. I'm 25 and live, breathe & eat film (literally as I work on film sets) which doesn't lead to a very healthy lifestyle when you aren't in control of what you eat as they provide our meals for us.

My main reason for returning to SparkPeople is not only my weight loss goals but this time round I have decided to train to run a half-marathon for the Charity MediCinema on October 7th 2012. This gives me 20 weeks and I want to track my progress. So wish me luck as I think I will definitely need it.

And heres to a healthier life and achieving our goals whatever they may be!

Hi everyone! Welcome to Spark!

Along with Yatmama, I am one of the Team Leaders for the SparkPeople Class of May 20-26, 2012! I have been a member of Spark since February 2010 and I consider myself a Spark success story! Using the tools on Spark helped me achieve not only my weight goals, but also my overall health goals, and I've got many of my real-world friends hooked on the site too!

I'm twenty-eight and I live in Canada, but I've lived in many other countries too. I have practiced healthy eating from Turkey to Sweden to Honduras! I work a pretty standard nine to five job that doesn't have much activity, so I often spend my evenings and weekends incorporating some fitness. I'm not naturally athletic, strong or coordinated, but I found that by being diligent with my exercise I built up enough strength and endurance to feel comfortable- if not confident- doing just about any physical activity!

Yatmama and I would love to hear more about you, so please feel free to reply to this thread and introduce yourself!

Stats: Female, 5'4", 28 years old.

Goal: From 152 (07/24/2011) to 125 by December, 2011. DONE! December 4th weighed in at 124. In 2012 I've been maintaining around 122, which is a thirty pound loss. My BMI has gone from 26.1 to 20.9 since following the Spark plan!
