Hi, welcome!! I'm a big snacker (seriously - I snack all the time and then I'm less hungry at meals and I don't gorge), but what is REALLY helpful is having healthy snacks always on-hand. I am a huge fan of granola bars - I have a stock pile at home and in my office (the Kashi TLC bars are good and some of the healthiest out there). I also really like string cheese. Fruit like apples and clementines are also really portable. I'm way less likely to overeat and eat bad foods if they just aren't around me. I also have Dove dark chocolates at home and at work...a piece or 2 of dark chocolate really satisfies the sweet tooth and it's not that bad for you.

I find if I portion out healthy snacks to have at night, then I don't find myself grazing too much- or find something else to do - like work out or get a good book that takes your mind off of it until the craving passes.

Goals are being optimally healthy--more consistency in my meals and snacks--and walking more. I seem to get sidetracked, why is it that when I am hungry I FEEL so thin....how about your goals. emoticon

I live in Traverse City too! Have just joined Michigan Girls today, and am SOOOOOOO glad the snow is gone. WHAT IS THIS???Rain and thunder today and TORNADO warning???Let us all get moving... emoticon

i've been here for about 4 years - my husband grew up in fife lake, but i'm from ithaca. so i've been in michigan my whole life, just not here. :)

howdy. :) i don't really know what to say other than i'm sick of being fat, i'm sick of losing weight and gaining it back, and i'm sick of waiting to start living the way i want to.

my goal for this year is to lose about 70 lbs and then start seriously trying to get pregnant while working on losing 80 lbs that will be between me and my current *official goal weight* of 170 lbs. i'm not looking to be skinny - my reccomended "ideal" weight is about 140 lbs, but if i can get to 170, i'll no longer be considered "obese" by BMI charts and just that will be a vast improvement.

i'd love to make new friends, so drop me a line anytime about just about anything. :)
