Would love to help you, Jennifer. I also came from north of Pittsburgh, small town of New Wilmington, home of Westminster College. Left there upon retiring in 1995, moved to North Carolina, and now are Florida residents where we spend about 7 months and the summer in NC. I joined SP in 2008 and still log on every day. Lost 50 lbs., gained some, and am still struggling to get the last 10 lbs. off. I'm not very thin but never have been. Been "dieting" since age 13 and continue to learn more from SP all the time.
If I can be of any help, please holler.

emoticon to the group Jennifer. I was in Pittsburgh this summer visiting family.

I live in coastal Ca and very much like you. Some medical conditions and went from losing to gaining, but refuse to give up. Even a pound less on scale encourages me to continue trying.

You have a good attitude and will succeed on you weight loss and healthier journey.

Hello! My name is Jennifer, I am 46, and I live in Pittsburgh with my husband and 2 sons, ages 16 and 18 (I also have a 21-year old son in his final year of college). I am so glad to have found this encouraging, positive group. As I mentioned in my most recent blog post, having a positive outlook can really make a difference in the lives of those you interact with and can lead to hope when lifeís journey is difficult. I especially appreciated reading in the intros here how many people are refusing to give up, even though facing challenging issues with their health and mobility. I understand those issues as I am also struggling to deal with multiple chronic illnesses that impact my life on a daily basis (including fibromyalgia, asthma, migraines, myofascial pain syndrome, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune thyroid disease, Raynaudís, generalized anxiety disorder, ADD, depression, allergies, IBS, fatty liver, GERD, lower lumbar facet osteoarthritis, obstructive sleep apnea, etc.)

One thing that helps me to cope with these difficulties is my faith, which also is a motivator for me to make healthier choices so that I can have more energy and freedom to be able to live fully. I am passionate about helping people to live meaningful lives in which they experience personal growth and transformation and are empowered to effectively use their gifts and abilities to the fullest extent, fulfilling the purpose for which they have been created. I also enjoy hobbies such as writing, reading, genealogy, research, art, and playing games.

I have been a member of SparkPeople since 2008, but have gone back and forth between losing and gaining weight (I started at 228, went up to a high of 262.4 in 2013, and now am at 223). However, I am more committed than I have ever been before to losing this weight (75 lbs) and making healthier choices, and so it seemed like a great time to join in with others who can hold me accountable and where I can both encourage others in their journey towards better health and also be encouraged myself. I am looking forward to getting to know you as we navigate this path towards better health side by side.
