Hi Glenda! My name is Lauri and I have successfully lost 220 pounds. I am on SNAP and have found a way to eat healthy and still lose weight. I was a sweets lover and addicted to Diet Pepsi. I have to admit that I have gone back to drinking the Diet Pepsi a bit but not like I used to. I just drink one a day now. I know if I can do this after being morbidly obese since I was a little child that anyone can do this. You can check out my Spark Page and see my pictures and read my story. I need to put on new full length pictures. I can get around so much better now and my arthritis hardly bothers me at all anymore. Having that pressure off my knees really helps. I know you can do this and make it work for you. Your husband is going to love you no matter what. Have him help you with diet and exercise. I'm sure he'll love having someone that can be active with him. Just think of all the things that you'll be able to do together. Hi Glenda. Welcome to the team. Believe it or not it isn't really anymore expensive to eat healthy as it is to buy junk. In fact it may be cheaper. You aren't getting sick all the time so not buying aspirin, cough drops, that type of stuff. I am on disability, get SNAP benefits, and usually have a little money left over at the end of the month. I have lost 122.pounds and have maintained it since 12/12 so I guess I, for the most part, eat healthy. We all have bad days. Good luck on your journey. emoticon

Hi Glenda,
First of all you've come to a good place. I have been very much like you and I have three pieces of advice you can take or leave.

1. You have to learn to love yourself as you are right at this moment to know you deserve to be healthy and happy. Over eating is as self destructive as cutting.
2.Food is Fuel not your Friend. It won't ever make you feel better for long and is directly responsible for locking us into a cycle of misery that's hard to escape.
3. You need to get counseling, a support group, or at least read up on self help. You need to find another outlet for your frustration, sadness, anger, and worries.

I'm in the process of struggling with these things. Don't you just wish you could flip a switch in your head and all of a sudden want to go exercise every time you're emotional overwhelmed?

Hi Glenda! Welcome to the team! I am sure you will find that it is a supportive group of people! I want to wish you every success on your journey towards better health. One thing you can do that is free is give up soda and start drinking water! I know it's hard. I switched to diet coke with splenda and am slowly working my way off of it too! It took a while but once I realized how much of my daily calorie intake was in soda I knew I had to kick the habit!

HI, MINE IS GLENDA I'm 42 AND I WEIGH 380 POUNDS, I'm A FOOD ADDICT. NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS IN MY LIFE I USE FOOD, WHETHER A CELEBRATION OR BAD DAY. I HAVE TRIED WEIGHT WATCHERS TWICE AND THIS IS MY THIRD OR FOURTH TIME TRYING SPARK PEOPLE. I AM MARRIED AND MY HUSBAND IS ATHETHLEIC, BUT HE LOVES ME AND NEVER MAKES ME FEEL BAD ABOUT MYSELF, IN FACT MY SELF CONFIDENCE IS FINE, BUT I FEEL THAT BECAUSE HE TELLS ME HOW BEAUTIFUL I AM ALL THE TIME IT HAS ENABLED ME TO ALLOW MY WEIGHT TO GET OUT OF CONTROL. MY HEALTH IS NOT I HAD A HEART ATTACK IN APRIL 2013. I SMOKE AND HAVE COPD! [NOT GOOD] I AM ABOUT TO GRADUATE COLLEGE IN MAY AND I'm TERRIFIED I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO THE STANDING AND WALKING THAT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS. I HAVE A HARD TIME DOING EXERCISE AND I HAVE A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP WITH POP AND CANDY, MORE SPECIFYING: PEPSI AND REESE CUPS! LOL, I NEED TO CHANGE AND I'm AFRAID I CANT I DONT WANNA DIE OR SIMPLY JUST EXIST IN THE WORLD I WANNA LIVE A FULL AND ACTIVE LIFE AS IT STANDS I BARELY EXIST. OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL AND SCHOOL RELATED ACTIVITIES I MUST ATTEND I AM JUST AT HOME.....VERY SAD!! I DONT HAVE ALOT OF MONEY TO BUY ALL THIS HEALTHY STUFF AND DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO BUT I AM TRYING :)
