Welcome to the team! I hope you find the support here you're looking for. I've lost 185 pounds with the help of SparkPeople, Weight Watchers and a gastric sleeve surgery, It's been about 20 months and I am still losing. I still have about 65-75 pounds to go to get to my goal weight, but I will get there and then when I do, I will have plastic surgery to have all my excess skin removed and I may even have a breast augmentation considering I have been flat chested my whole life. I know we can do this if we work together and trust in the process and trust in God. If you're looking for a friend, please friend me and then I will add you and we can help each other out. Hi I am a 45 year old Christian and am disabled by a very bad back (two herniated disks and a "broken" vertebra) . I weigh 337 lbs. I want to lose the extra 200 lbs by my 50th birthday or hopefully sooner! I want health for real. I consider this a life journey and not a fad diet. I joined SparkPeople on the recommendation of my pain management P.A. and am finding it helpful and encouraging although I have just begun to take full advantage of it.
I have struggled with my weight my whole life and when I quit smoking 4 years ago I went from 185 to what I am now. I finally don't expect it to come off fast. Baby steps and slow and steady are my new catch phrases. Throughout the years I have discovered what doesn't work for me and a few things that do. One of the things that worked for me in the past was making a small change at a time rather than trying to change everything all at once. Before I quit smoking, I had lost 85 lbs by using that very method so I know it works for me. I just got way off track.
