Hey Everyone!
CarlyDB85 - My name is Carly! I joined Spark for the first time in 2010, had a lot of success with it, but malfunction with my account. I started up again in September 2011 and have been working hard ever since.
I started because I was obese and I really didn't want to have to find a store that sold even bigger clothes than the plus size store I already went to. Silly reason, but it got me looking at the better reasons, like being healthy for my kids.
I have two kids, ages 4 and 5. They're amazing. Me and my partner never did get around to getting married due to lack of money for a wedding, but he proposed this year and we're planning a wedding for next year(not a lot more money than before but it seems like the right timing and we're keeping things simple).
I'm also in the process of upgrading my highschool marks to get myself into university. I should start a couple of university courses in the fall, but because my kids are only in school/daycare part-time, I'm waiting until next year to begin full-time classes.

Hi my name is Cindy to except I put a y on the end . You are doing a good job. I have only lost 4 lbs. since starting exept Ive lost more inches. I exersise 3 times a week at Fit Expess {like Curves} I love it. It gets me out and excercising and I love the results it is giving me. Dont give up You can do it.SparkPeople is a good tool for me Im glad I found it. emoticon

Yes, I to like all the articles and have gotten quite a few good recipes too. I like the quizes to they are fun. I havent really used this site to track my food yet I probably should. I need to get some grocerys and then I will. I have never did that before but they say you can lose more weight that way. I to would like to add you to my friends list but I dont know how to either Ill try to find out then let you know.

Yes Thank You!! I have used another site before and of course ww so I know that being accountable for what you put in your mouth is the best way for me to loose. Being on a site like this with so much information and the ability to share ups and downs is great. Don't you just love all the articles, tips and recipes? The quizzes are fun and informational as well. If you haven't taken one yet try one, they are not as easy as you think. I wish that my fiance would do something like this. He feels it is to much work so I told him then to just write things down and plug it all in later, but to no avail he wants nothing to do with it.
Well I better get going, I would like to add you to my friend list if I can figure out how so that we can talk easier. Keep me posted on how you are doing. Bye for now

Hi my name is Cindy, I found out about SparkPeople in tne Womens World Magazine. I really like it, I log on every morning for at least an hr. I have lost a little bit of weight. I go to Fit Express {like Curves} to exersise 3-4 times a week, and I am drinking 8 or more glasses of water a day.. How you came to join Sparkpeople: I got fed up with being overweight, feeling tired and worn out all the time, not being healthy (being a nurse I know the drawbacks of being overweight), having to take meds for a fast heart rate and list goes on...... I was looking for something other than the conventional expensive programs and found this by accident or my fate take your pick and have decided to go with it. So far I am down 5 lbs since starting last week.

What are your goals? I am hoping to lose about 100 pounds. I work night shift and I am gone 15+ hours on the days I work so I have trouble getting in exercise those days but will exercise on my days off. I am planning on going back to the gym when the weather turns rainy, but until then, I want to start walking again and eventually work by way up to doing a 5K. I had a hip injury at work this spring and was down for the count. I regained all 35 pounds I had lost last fall. I am determined to lose that plus the other 65 lbs.

Three interests or fun things you'd like to share:
I love being a mom to my son and wife to my husband.
I have a love hate relationship with my job.
I love to read and crochet and be lazy. (Working on changing that the lazy part though.)

Looking forward to making new friends and getting to know everyone.

Hi ~ my name is Pat, I am recently retired and now have the time and stress free lifestyle to improve my physical health. I am on Day 4 and already feel better than before I started on here. I find the nutrition tracker very helpful, the fitness tracker will be my challenge as I have a fairly sedentary lifestyle these days. As summer ends I plan to start fishing, hiking and cycling on a regular basis, they're things I enjoy but only did while on vacation until now. Slowly started cycling again and plan on going fishing this week. I don't believe in dieting, it doesn't work long term & makes me unhappy - I prefer changing to a healthy lifestyle so I can continue making better choices. I hope to learn to make better choices and get rid of bad habits. Losing weight is important to me but being healthy & fit is more important.

Hi My name is Darlene I was on spark a few yrs ago but didn't lose weight fast enof. I got to my goal but gained it back since I went on the south beach diet gain what I lost plus an extra 10. I know it's a carb thing w/me but I love them. I just quit WW the $$ isn't worth it. I decided to come back here since it's free & to start anew. I changed my name I'm on the new diet here. I'm doing some other things as well. I'm elimating foods as an experiment. Mainly just for me as a science project. I swear I have been on every diet out there. I lost alot of weight when I was 40 on no fat. I still eat very low fat. I wonder why I am fat at all to be honest. I'm a vegetarian as much as possible. My hubby has had serveral blood clots so we had to start eating turkey for him I do the same. I don't/won't eat red meat, or chicken, eggs, pork, veal,Only turkey, fish & some cheese. I'm lactose intolerant so cheese is something I just don't volunteer to eat but my hubby loves pizza could eat it everyday. So thin crust has very lil cheese. That I did to lower my cholestrol since my parents passed on I don't know the heredity factor. So it went down now I'd love to chg my diet to get my blood pressure down & I don't want to become the first diabetic in my family. I'm cuttin sugar as one of my goals in the new diet.

I have migraines, I am very aware of w/drawls so I have to be careful of that we are storming to day & I have a bad headache from the pressure chg. Pollen too is out so I wil have headaches this month. TS Lee invited himself to our Labor family BBQ! Creepy ole storm.

I love to walk, waterski,swim, I'm part fish, I exercise alot. I have problems in the winter keeping up w/my summer schedule in the winter. I need help w/this come dead of winter.

I'm 56 happily married to the same man for 39 yrs on Black Fri. Our 40th I have big plans & by then I have to be at my goal. I have short goals before that so I'm going to make it they are w/in reach. My daughter just married last Aug 2010 & I have a grandson Leo. He is the cutest baby ever of course. Cept he cries when I hold him every time.

My cat died so I have a new kitty he gives me the affection Leo doesn't. Thank God. He's the best lil kitty. I'm very involved in politic's but this is going to be my free zone from that. I need a few more free zones it's silly season. It's going to get worse too so I need alot of breaks. This is perfect distraction plus it will help my body.

I tell ya I almost gave up. I was ready for the new wardrobe in an XL size. But my back aches. I also don't like big boobs. Maybe if I would go to V Secrets & got the right bra I could show them off in an approiate bra but who knows I burned the bra in the 70's but I didn't need one either then.

I Love to travel, I'm retired from waitressing. I made alot of money doing that for alot of yrs so invested in some real estate & that's my income now. When I can get them to pay the rent. It sound like such a great idea at the time. My mgr was doing it The other selling Mary Kay so I decided the real estate was better, maybe I was wrong. I should say my daughter is in one house. That's my biggest headache.

So this is it. If anyone is interested in walking w/me on the phone so we aren't walking alone sent me a message we can exchg #'s. I love to walk but not alone.

I'm determined this time this is going to happen. I need support tho & I know you guys are all here for that.

I'm 11 months from age 50, and I need to lose about 130 pounds, but at the moment I am focusing on being healthier...with the fervent desire that the weightloss follow.

Hello To All,
Hi Colleen,

I am Nancy and also from Washington State and just started last Thursday, September 1. Having friends is essential in my life because they lead me to great resources like this. This site is amazing and am still navigating my way through. So much information and support. This is what will keep me motivated, regimented and accountable to friends here and myself.

I am 56 years old, and only in the latter part of my life does my weight seem to be creeping up. Even now though, I am able to lose as fast as I gain and that is a good reason to learn how to keep it off for life.

I do have 52 lbs to lose and have the mindset going, but here is where I hope to find the motivation.

My three goals were to start with a friend, track the weight, and keep a journal of all my feelings.

Hi all, I'm Colleen, just started the day before yesterday, so am still figuring it out. I'm from Washington State, 52, and am convinced I won't give up after a week this time. Last night I went to a party though and didn't do very well.....
My goals are to record on the food tracker (I recorded last night even though I ate a ton of food), to exercise three times per week, and to read a success story daily. I need to lose 50 pounds...seems overwhelming.

Hello everyone. My name is Lynn and I live in Montana u.s.a. I will turn 50 in Dec. of this year 2011 and I want to be living a healthier lifestyle. I have been in a wheelchair since 1973. I am paralized. I live with chronic pain and fatigue and exercise is very difficult. I am hopeing to lose some weight that I have gained over the past 3 years due to medication that I have to take. We can do this!
I enjoy reading and studying the Bible.

My spark name in ginm37. Most of my friends call me gin. I am 46 and been on every diet I can think of...the last one was the 17 day diet and I did lose 8 pounds but guess what. They all came back. Several years ago, I weighed 240 pounds and getting to 180 is an accomplishment but it has taken 15 years and I am stuck here at 180. I want to lose 20 lbs. I wear a size 14 now and I would just like to be a size 12.
Looking forward to the new tools that this site provides and to making new friends.

HI everyone!!! My Spark name is Neonrose1 but really its Kim. I was looking through the internet trying to figure out why I could lose 65 pounds twice on 2 different diet programs (Jenny Craig and LA weight loss) and then stop losing completely, did I mention it was when I hit 265 both times? WELL, I found spark and decided to try. Here is the wierd thing, after numerous searches, it seems I needed to ADD calories..... ????
I dont want to keep spending my hard earned income on anymore diet stuff, so, I quit Jenny Craig, stopped wearing my body media thingy joined spark and joined the gym, oh and I love watger aerobics (good on the bad knee). I thought what did I have to lose (hopefully weight). So here I am and I lost 3.6 pounds this week.
Would love to meet some new people who have common goals and are wanting a new friend.

My sppark name is stompkins6 or you can just call me shelley. I found this site by accident, I was on dr. oz website on facebook and saw the advertisement and decided to check it out.
I have lost 45 pounds since March, and now need to lose the last 20. I did the first 45 alone, and for the last 20 I would like to do it with people heading for the same goals. I feel that I can really get some extra motivation that way.
I know part of this is going to be working out. I have not motivated myself to do that yet, but know that in order to get the last 20 off, and keep it off this is really something that I will need to do.
I am at 150 right now, and wear a size 10-12. My goal is to get to 130 pounds and get back into my size 7 jeans, maybe even 5's. I was there just a few years ago, then lost it due to depression and stress, so I ballooned up to close to 200 pounds.
I am not happy with myself being overweight, and so this is something I need for me. And, I want to be around for a long, long time for my children and my grandchildren.
Although my job is the cause of most of my stress, I do love it. I also have a new grandbaby who is a little over a year old who is the light of my life. So in my free time I like to spend as much time with him as I can.

Hi Team,
My name is River331, and I joined SP on the 28th.

I found it by chance, while doing an online search for a recipe - but I believe that it was synchronicity, since I've been gearing up to a serious weight-loss, fitness lifestyle for a couple of years now. (Yes, I'm slow and also I think I've been worried about failure.) When I saw what the site was about it just "clicked". The time is NOW.

My goal is to be as healthy as I can be, every day, while still loving my life. My plan is to do it using both exercise & healthy whole, organic foods.

I joined SparkPeople on Monday and it has me so revved up and feeling super committed. I know it's still the honeymoon period and it won't always feel like this, but just having a site that encourages (practically requires) me to check in daily is going to be a huge help, I know it.

I've been struggling with my weight for about ten years now. I gained some in college, but it wasn't until I'd started a real job - complete with long commute and sitting at a desk all day - that it became a real problem. I joined Weight Watchers and have been a member off and on for years. I lost a fair amount and was able to keep twenty pounds off permanently.

About six months ago, I could feel myself gaining again. I avoided the scale for ages, and when I finally stepped back on (about three weeks ago), I was terribly disappointed to see the same number that I saw at my first WW meeting. Not good. I gave up Coca-Cola on the spot, and tried to be more conscious of what I ate. But it's not the same as having a tool like this website, and I'm confident that I'll be successful now that I have some help.

* I joined because I was specifically looking for a calorie/food tracker that also had an iPhone app. I checked out a handful of others, but SparkPeople is by far the best.
* My long-term goal is to lose 70 pounds. I would also like to lead a more active lifestyle.
* Fun things:
- I have an amazing dog named Huckleberry (after Huck Finn, not Huckleberry Hound, in case you were wondering)
- I've recently started taking creative writing classes and am loving them
- I'm in the process of starting my own company.

Glad to meet you on here.

I am great at reading the motivational books, not so great at following up on any of it. I get inspired by other people's successes but then the first pang of hunger - wham - back to the fridge!! And its so much easier to watch my favourite TV shows than schlep back and forth to the gym. BUT - you are right, time to GET MOVING!!

wtg Amanda and glad to see you here. 5 pounds is really a great goal, still work to do it, but small enough to not get too discouraged. Sometimes I find I go to extremes and try to set too high of a beginning goal for myself and when I don't reach it I just quit! Too much quitting in my life. So I am with you all the way!

I am 51 and if I don't do something about these excesses right now...maybe I never will. Im sick and tired and blown to bits about being fat. I hate fat. So this is my time to get slim. How you came to join Sparkpeople: My husband got an amazing job offer so we moved from Atlanta on July 22nd of this year. Texas is soooo much hotter than the peach state that it is taking some serious adjustment. I thought since I am working from home it would be a great opportunity to visit the apt. gym on my lunch break and get in some good workouts in the pool. I am really really out of shape and just think that if I can get my habits under control, working out regularly and eating better than I do now, that good things will come as a result.
What are your goals? (Specific weight, improved health, whatever drew you to Sparkpeople) I would like to land in the neighborhood of 170lbs. I am 6'2" and I have a long way to go.
Three interests or fun things you'd like to share: No kids yet, but my hubby and I have a four legged fur-child that is just bursting with energy. I see people jogging with their dogs, and I want to do that! I have a background in musical theatre, and I play and online game called World of Warcraft (which can result in a lot of sitting)

What are your goals? My husband and I have big plans to be able to fit into our wedding clothes by our 5th anniversary next October. I figure I either need to get rid of my dress, or find a way to fit back into it. For my own health and the sake of my family, it seems like working to get back into it is the best option!

What are your goals? get down to 128lbs or lower. I yoyo between 140 lbs and 160 lbs and every time I hit 140 I lose focus and bounce back up
Three interests or fun things you'd like to share: I can touch my nose with my tongue, I love putting ketchup on scrambled eggs (much to my husbands disgust) and I run 2 half marathons a year emoticon

Hello fellow Sparkers,
I am new to this as of today August 31st. I have been at this weight loosing thing since January 2011. I have had GREAT success by just changing how I ate, now I fear I will need to excersie to loose the last bit...uuugh. I have my last 15 - 20 to loose and well, that is why I am here.

I too am new to Spark. I was reading the posts and came across yours. I too started out my weightloss journey via those same DVD's. for me it was an easy way to get going, without over doing...I HATE excersise and Leslie made me fell like I wasnt really excersising.

What are your goals? Overall, to be healthier, but my immediate goal is to lose 35 pounds. I want to be healthier for my daughter, who's almost 1.

How you came to join Sparkpeople: My cousin mentioned being on it, or trying it out. So, I did too.
What are your goals? I would like to lose about 15lbs to begin with, and then maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have to admit that the fact I am getting married next summer has sort of helped this, because I want to look lovely in my dress. Really though, I have been wanting to lose some weight and get into shape for awhile now. So, I may as well start now.

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie, this is the first time i've ever been a part of any type of blog or member of any internet community, but I really want to be more healthy.
I will be turning 50 on my next birthday and want my next 50 to be productive so I need to loose about half of my body weight, I take a lot of meds so I've not had any luck in the past but maybe with Spark People's help i can change that.
I have been married to the same man for the past 25 years and have 2 great sons and 2 beautiful grandchildren. I love to read and travel and live in the South where the weather is good.

Hi Everyone! I'm Renee. I just joined SP this morning. I lost 110 lbs about 3 years ago and have maintained for about a year and a half. I have gained about 20 pounds back and can't seem to get rid of it. This has been an extremely stressful year (divorce & all that goes with it) and I can see old eating habits coming back with a vengence. So, gotta squash that. When I was losing weight I was involved in an on-line forum. It was a tremendous help. Not alot of help in person.

I'm 1LightSeeker. I am joining sparkpeople because I really need to get things with my midsection and my health under control. I keep losing the same 10-15 lbs and forgetting about the other 50 or 60. I have a real hard time sticking with healthy habits, so I'm hoping this time will be the charm!

Hi everyone!! My Sparkname is KRovner, but you can call me Kale. I first joined Spark in July of 2009, and lost 30 pounds. I found out I was pregnant 6 months later and my Grandma passed away, so I just stopped watching what I ate and stopped exercising. Now, I am ready to get back in the game. I'm turning 30 in 6 months, and I don't want to start another decade overweight and hating myself. I was thin once, and I aim to get back to that. When I graduated highschool I weighed 145 pounds. I currently weigh 235, and my goal is to get back to my highschool weight, and even a little smaller. 3 things about me: I LOVE Pinterest!!!! Have you heard of it? It's fabulous! I am a mother to two little girls, ages almost 4 and almost one (both were born in September, two days shy of three years apart.) And, my husband recently won a trip to Hawaii and we are going sometime next year!! (He also won one right before I joined Spark People the first time but we cashed the trip out and used the money as a down payment on our house!) I found SP tonight by googling the best free online diet trackers. This one looked like the best!
My goal is to hold myself accountable, get back into journaling, get back to regular exercise and to go full vegetarian. So... that's a lot of goals. So I'm thinking it would be a great idea to have a support system to achieve them.
Three things I'll share about myself--
1. Big Green Bay Packers fan (who couldn't like Aaron Rodgers, come on!)
2. I love to cook!
3. The Help has been sitting on my nightstand for over a year... and I just can't make myself read it.

I found SP several years ago and lost the weight I needed. Now, I'm back after regaining it all!

My goal is to lose weight in a healthy way. I need to eat less and exercise more. I know it sounds simple but it's difficult in practice. I don't yet belong to a gym but I do hope to find one sooner rather than later. Until then I need to get myself moving at/or around home. I also would love to gain energy in this process.

I am a lifelong yoyo dieter. I joined sparkpeople quite some time ago as research while I was working in advertising selling a dieting plan that doesn't work for 99% of the people who use it. That job and that client had a major impact on my life. 1.5 years later, I have quit the business and gotten my dream job and sworn off for-profit, fad and unhealthy "diets". Found spark people again recently when I downloaded the book at a discount on my Kindle. It was really motivational, and made a lot of sense!

Have tried to start by going it alone a few times, and keep on wishing I had a group of folks to help keep my motivated. The spark community is so big I feel a little lost/not sure where to fit in. I had the brainstorm to try to find a team of people starting out a few minutes ago!

GOALS:
I would like to improve my self image and self confidence, and stop obsessing about the scale. The only times in my life I have found inner peace with my weight is when I am exercising regularly and eating healthily. I'd also like to get down to a healthy BMI for my height, which means losing about 15 lb. I would also like to run a 5k (currently, cannot even run a mile!), and continue on the track of making exercise a regular part of my life. Also, would like to cook more often.

Three interests or fun things you'd like to share:

1. I LOVE to read too, and guess what, Euphrates?? I'm in the middle of Game of Thrones, too!! Reading Book 4 now! :) Who is your favorite character? Mine are Arya and Nymeria, the direwolf!
2. My name is Chicago grey because I live in Chicago and have a greyhound. I am 37, no kids, just a hubbie and my "fur son." I think I have imprinted on him because I have no kids! I am a big advocate for adopting greyhounds, so feel free to ask me about them anytime!
3. I am the world's worst housewife, and working on improving those skills along with the Spark. I actually feel like cooking and cleaning could be a key to my success. We eat out often, and I want to change that.

Also, if anybody on this team lives in Chicago and works downtown, I would love to meet up for a walk once a week!

Hi not sure if iIam doing this right but I do the overnight work too, 10PM - 6:30AM. Rough shift, Started gaining my weight and looking to loose about 20 to 25 lbs.. Want to succeed and determination is in me. really slowed down with this weight and gotta get the blood pressure down along with my cholesterol number.

How you came to join Sparkpeople: I joined SP in 2003 when I heard about it on a news broadcast about fitness (see, I live in Cincinnati, and this is where it all started - Spark Guy Chris Downie is originally a Cincinnati boy), but I didn't really do anything with it until May of 2010. I've now been active for a year and 3 months, and have lost 65 lbs!

(Specific weight, improved health, whatever drew you to Sparkpeople) - My main goal right now is to live life to the fullest, and do things I never thought I was capable of doing before - part of that is hoping to get down to 150 lbs (we'll see if that's where I end up or if I decide to lose more - I have no idea what that number will look like)

Three interests or fun things you'd like to share:

*I LOVE to read (currently making my way through the Game of Thrones books - they're awesome)

*I'm about as "alternative" as it gets in terms of lifestyle, religion etc. - my motto is "Ask me a direct question, I'll give you a direct answer - just be sure you really want to know!"

*I have 4 biological children (the oldest I placed for adoption, we now have contact over the internet), and 6 "heart children" (I guess you'd officially call them "ex step-children", but they all still call me Mommy Lisa), none of whom live with me anymore. I currently live with my mate, and our 3 cats. :)

OH - something else to know about me is that I work nights, 9pm - 9am, and I tend to do most of my sparking at work (at least team interractions). SO, be patient if I don't get back to you right away - I'm probably sleeping. :)
