Hi my name is Cori. This is my 3rd day in a row of Sparks dieting. I am a stay at home mom of 4 children: A 17 yr old B who is MR, a $ year old G, a 2.5 year old B and a 1 year old B. I have been with my fiancee for 2 years who is an ex-marine so very healthy and active. When we first met I was 165 lbs and very active as well but after a rough pregnancy of being on bed rest for 8 months due to a liver and heart issues I have gained and now weigh 221. In 1997 I had a gastric bypass and weighed 287 some place I do not wish to be again. I am having my staple line reassessed and may need a revision. I am hoping here will help get me back down without having to. I am starting exercise today as well. Hoping it all goes well. I hope to get support from here and give it too. Luck to us all!

I was browsing the recipes over the weekend and will definitely be trying things out this week. Any favorites I should try? Thanks for the suggestion and good luck!

Thank you for the great tips! I have to agree healthy eating isn't as bad as it use to be and I like trying new things. I'm very excited to get healthy and I believe that my BF is on board. He did try in the past to be supportive but now he better understands how important healthy eating is for him as well.This will be the first solid week and I'm excited to track my progress I will let you know how things go. Thanks again!

I would strongly suggest taking some recipes from sparkrecipes and trying them. My familynhates "healthy tasting meals". But they eat true healthy foods every day and enjoy them. Gone are the days of tofu for dinner with rice patties. You can eat well and still eat healthy.

Elaina....welcome and good luck. What I have found is HEALTHY cooking isn't as YUCKY as in the past. I have found that cooking healthy can be done with some of the slightest changes....and if you don't broadcast how you cook....it would probably go unnoticed. Also, if he TRULY loves you, he should be willing to make small sacrifices for the benefit of your health. Good luck to you....

Hi everyone my name is Elaina and I'm a new member of Sparkpeople.com. I joined to get help w/ losing these 10 + lbs hanging around my midsection.I'm 30yrs old and losing weight isn't as easy as it was 10yrs ago. Its been difficult to eat healthy because my BF doesn't like lowfat/lowcal food so I'm stuck eating/cooking things that make him happy. What I've had to learn is portion control and that seems to be helping. I can make what he likes but I don't have to eat a lot of it. I think using the calorie tracker is very helpful with aiding me in the portion control and calorie intake. I wish everyone great success and can't wait to starting hearing the stories of accomplishment in a few weeks.
