Hi Jude,
It sounds like you have the right mentality and drive. Slow changes that last rather than fast changes that burn out. I found healthy eating much more fun when I knew what was and was not healthy. Tracking my foods allowed that. Sparkpeople has an amazing tracking system that is intuitive and easy to use after a little practice.

Plus Spark recipes has some amazing recipes that are delicious and healthy!!!

Glad you are here. Look forward to seeing you on here often.

Hi ! I'm a 51 year old single mom of two older teens. I work with special needs kids. I've been battling my weight all my life, and so far the weight is winning! I've had periods of time when I've been thin and in great shape, BUT, the way I did it was unrealistic, impractical, and unsustainable. (Eating 1200 or less calories a day, working out for an hour and a half every day, including running 6-7 miles...) I'd like to get real, change how I eat, and incorporate moderate exercise that I want to do, rather than have to force myself to do.
Right now I'm trying to become mindful of what I eat. I do great until I get home from work, than it all falls apart! I'm hoping by tracking what I eat and making mindful choices (and by being held accountable!) I can break that pattern.
I'm also beginning to run again, after a long hiatus due to back problems. Currently I'm doing intervals for an hour during my morning walk. I'm hoping to get to 1 minute intervals in the next few weeks ... especially when this heat wave passes!

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and getting involved here. i need all the support, motivation and encouragement I can get, and I hope I can do the same for others!
