There is a core foundation to being healthy that I learned reading the spark.

Eating healthy
Exercise
Sleep
Motivation

I listed them in the order I consider more important, but honestly they are all so vital. If you eat healthy, you exercise better, then you are tired from working out so you sleep wonderfully, so you wak up refreshed and ready to go (ie motivation). You see how they pay off one another? That is the part that excites me. I do a little each day to make sure I am blending all 4 aspects into my day to day life. Now if only i can get my boss to let me sleep at work!! LOL

Thanks so much for that! I will try making small changes at first to keep myself motivated, but I am a very "all or nothing" type of person. I often want to go to the extreme when doing things, especially losing weight, and I end up setting myself up for failure because of it. I give up because it's "just too hard!" But I think if I try doing small things first, I should be alright. For example, this past week I have stopped eating mindlessly in the evening. In fact, I have been doing well with eating dinner and then nothing else for the rest of the evening. This has helped me in the past and I think it will help me now. Thanks again for the support!

Focus for the duration is a big deal. For me it was starting small that worked for me. When I was at my heaviest I would drink three 20oz sodas a day at work. Instead of stopping those completely I reduced the # to 2 a day at first, then 1 a day for a while and finally I kicked them completely. Now that I am at my target weight I still enjoy a soda a few times a week and I enjoy it completely guilt free because I learned with Spark that it is VITAL that we all embrace the bad times as well as the good.

Use the site for those down times Colleen. That is the difference between failure and success.

Hi everyone!

My name is Colleen McMurray and I am glad to have found a support group to be a part of! I am very aprehensive about my weight loss journey, as I have tried many many many times before to lose it with no luck. My biggest fear is that I will be motivated to do this for a week or so, then fall off the wagon again. Regardless, I need to stay focused and on track and I am so glad I have people to relate to! Nice to be here!
