How did everyone do with week1? I am on Day 6 and have lost 5 lbs. Amazing. And I have not been exercising (bad, I know) or drinking the morning lemon water. Otherwise I have been sticking to the diet. I need to incorporate some work outs, but I'm excited now after this weigh in!

I'm starting cycle 1 today too! It will be great to have some other people starting along with me. So far so good today, except didn't have the morning water with lemon. Oh well.

Welcome to you newcomers! I have done low-carb dieting in the past with pretty good success. My problem was that it became too restrictive and I couldn't stick with it. With 17DD, the cycles help you stay motivated enough to know that there are only "X" number of days til you get to switch it up a bit. For me, someone who battles a lot of pain and inflammation issues (fibromyalgia and arthritis), I really feel good when I follow 17DD. Hope you guys do, too! --Julie

Hi Kimberly :-)

I am starting tomorrow, so we will be going through this together! Having been on every diet under the sun, I am really looking forward to doing something I know, once I adapt, I can do as a lifestyle. I only want to lose between 10-20 pounds, but what I am really looking for is to feel better and not feel so OUT OF CONTROL. Years ago I did the Carbohydrate addicts diet, which worked, except that after awhile my "eat anything meal" got , yes, OUT OF CONTROL. LOL.
I just hope I can really stick with it, especially because I just bough tout the grocery store's produce section.
Keeping my fingers crossed!

p.s. I know it mentions ff cheese in moderation-- does that include ff cream cheese?

Hi Kimberly.....I am so happy you decided to join us!

As you know, I am a newbie too, but I wanted to give you some encouragement. I am on day 12 of Cycle 1.

The diet can be a bit of a challenge the first week as others have said, but keep with it. I didn't have any headaches, but I did have body aches and some extreme fatigue. I just listened to my body and when the fatigue hit, I chose not fight it and took naps instead. That's what helped me get through the tough part.

Today I am on Day 12, and I have to say all that has passed. I feel really good, energy is coming back as I am adjusting to the diet, the only body aches I have now are just from playing tennis, and I have lost 9 1/2 pounds!!!! I have never had this kind of success with any other diet.! And, what I love most about this diet is that in 5 more days, I am looking forward to adding back in some of my favorite foods, so this does get easier!

There is a ton of info on this site and lots of great support. Best of luck to you!

Deb

WELCOME, and yes, "support" is the middle name of this team. You're in the right place, and I've never really "dieted" before & the 17 DD works!

It will be great watching your weight removal success right alongside of us.

emoticon and as Gabby said if you feel any kind of yukky, it is probably detoxing going on.
This is an amazing diet, in another week I will have been on it since April 2/11..that's a whole year and I still love it. This is a healthy lifestyle way of eating and one to take with you for the rest of your life.
If you have any questions whatsoever, this is the place to ask them.
This team is so supportive and helpful in any thing you need. We are all in the same boat and none of us is a professional just professional dieters lol.
We look forward to hearing how you enjoy your first week. Come in and post on a daily basis to get the love and support you need. emoticon

emoticon Give this diet a chance. If you have severe headaches in the first few days it means that you have a lot of toxins in your system from processed foods. When you start eating clean and cleansing, the toxins which are stored in your fat cells are being released faster than your liver can process them, go in your bloodstream and cause symptoms such as headache, fatigue, muscle pain, etc.. I felt like I had the flu for 5 days and had extreme fatigue for 9 days but I had (have) a LOT of fat cells and had a lot of toxins. Some people who already ate clean didn't have any symptoms.
So consider headaches a sign that the diet is working to cleanse your body and in a few days you'll feel great!

My DH who lost a lot of weight fast discovered that he did so because he is diabetic. Since he didn't need to lose weight I put him on C3 although he won't eat yogurt and his doctor told him no fruit. (no wine or skinny cow either); but he was eating clean with carbs coming from vegetables. legumes, yams and whole grains. In 5 months he went from his sugar being off the charts, to normal and his doctor told him that he never had anyone improve so drastically. Point is this diet is great for regulating blood sugar.

Hi, I'm Kimberly! I ran across the 17DD here on Sparkpeople about 3 weeks ago. I started reading through the team page and the Facebook page to decide if this is really something for me? YEARS ago i tried South Beach, I got severe headaches. My DH has diabetes so I'm going to check my blood sugar if it happens again to know if I am hypoglcemic or just withdrawl symptoms,
I bought the iBook on my phone about a week ago and have been getting prepared to get started. I have been out of town of a family emergency, but plan to start when I am back in town and get to the grocery store which should be Wednesday!
