Welcome to Spark... and to this team!

Kudos for giving up the Coke... I gave up soda & energy drinks for Lent myself, so I can relate. You'll find plenty of information & resources on this site to help you be successful!

GOOD LUCK reaching your goals!!!

Good going on giving up the cokes for lent. Perhaps you will have the motivation to not pick them back up when it's over. Try.

You will find the motivation within to make positive eating changes. You are right that SP is not a diet. Diets don't work. They deprive you of what you want on a regular basis and then you just go back to them when the diet is over and start all over again.

Set up your goals in SP then start tracking your food. Plan your days food in advance and log it in the tracker for the entire day so you can make adjustments as necessary to stay within your ranges. Study the nutritional report while doing this to get a good handle on how you need to make food selection choices differently for better health and weight loss.

Walk every day. You probably need to get a break from your father anyway during the day so take a healthy walk.

You can do it. Just try. Good luck.

I'm a 60 year old divorced mom of four and mammaw to three, born and raised in Kentucky. I have lived in Indiana and Georgia but couldn't wait to get back to my roots. I live with my elderly father as his health has been going steadily down hill, plus it is cheaper for the both of us to share expenses. I've been known as "The Cat Lady' because I love cats. Sorry to say I only have one at this time because she, Nutmeg a short haired tortie, will not let any other cats in the house. I also have two dogs, a teacup poodle and a very mini dachsund. You name the diet and I have tried it only to fail. This time though is different. I am not 'dieting', I'm watching the portion size and the way the food is prepared. I have to say that I am addicted to Coke Cola, it was habit to pop open one upon waking everyday. I've tried giving them up before but never followed through, but hey why not one more chance. I gave up on Ash Wednesday, five days ago and haven't had one yet. That is a miracle for me. I need support and encouragement as I'm sure we all do.
