Welcome to Spark... and to this team!

First key to success: get the "diet" mentality out of your head! Deprivation NEVER works! SP is all about making permanent healthy lifestyle changes that can lead to lasting weight loss. Don't create a "do not eat" list... that'll just make you crave those items more. Instead, depending on what would normally be on that list, allow it in some form of moderation... either a small bit daily, or a normal serving, but just once a week or month.

Second bit of advice: to prevent boredom, get involved w/ this site. Between the message boards, the teams, the challenges... there's always something to do! That's what really keeps me motivated... my interaction w/ the Spark community!

Hello everyone. This is my first night on Sparkpeople.com. I am in dire need of support and friends to help me get this weight loss regiment a kick-start. I have been dieting and exercising off and on for the past 3-4 months. No matter how hard I have tried to prepare myself mentally and physically it seems like the path to losing weight doesn't stick :( I know I don't lack the motivation...that is so not my character. But I definitely lack the will-power. I feel myself getting BORED very quickly with dieting & exercise and more than often when I think about dieting I just want to give up because I hate the feeling of "depriving" myself. So if anyone is up to providing guidance and friendship to such a lost soul in this weight loss game :) send me a note.
