Hi I'm Cindie--I was told I had prediabetes several years ago and I thought with a family history, I wasn't surprised. I'd always been aware it could affect me but didn't take the risk factor seriously enough. I also knew I didn't want to take meds for a long as I possibly could avoid it. I've attempted reversal for those years and managed to keep my A1c at 6.0 (somewhat acceptable) or below and then it started creeping up to as high as 6.5 because I was being careless. I decided I was on a path to disaster if I didn't take this seriously and make better choices. It is reversible, per the Dr., if I get real and take the Diagnosis seriously. If I don't put the effort into it to make myself healthier, I won't have any choice but to take drugs which can potentially lead to other things. It catches up with you when you aren't looking. After several months of being serious and finally accepting what I'm dealing with I started a healthier path and making better food choices and exercise almost daily. I managed to drop my A1c down to 6.2 so I'm told my body still reacts to a better lifestyle, which gives me hope that I can reverse this for the moment. If you have a pre-diabetes DX, we all need to GET REAL and accept what we are dealing with. I have found for years of working in healthcare that we are all too easily ready to take another pill and I hope to avoid it as long as possible. Take back your health and let's all work on being the best we can by taking better care of ourselves! Go for it and GET REAL--GET HEALTHY!
