Welcome to the group. My last fasting blood glucose was 124, so the doctor is going to order another FBS and the A1c test for mid-August, 6 weeks after my last one. I'm also hypothyroid and had my dose of synthroid changed, so that's why I have to wait 6 weeks instead of 1 month for the retest.

Depending on the results, I may be pre-diabetic, but I decided to get proactive and learn about this condition as soon as possible. I went to the library to get some books, then decided to purchase a couple of them from The ones I'm currently reading are:

"Prediabetes for Dummies" by Alan L. Rubin, MD;

"Managing and Reversing Pre-Diabetes" by Gretchen Scalpi, RD, CDN, CDE - certified diabetes educator (included 200 recipes);

"What do I Eat Now?" A Step-by-Step Guide to Eating Right with Type 2 Diabetes, by Patti B. Geil, MS, RD, FADA, CDE & Tami A. Ross, RD, LD, CDE - published by the American Diabetes Association;

"The Official Pocket Guide to Diabetic Exchanges" - The American Diabetes Association.

They are all very informative and easy reads.

Like all of you I am on this journey to become healthier. My doctor sent me to diabetic counseling because I am pre-diabetic and I need to halt this in its tracks. I have been trying to lose weight - but not really dedicating myself to it because I let other things get in the way. happens now and tracking my food on the nutrition tracker and exercising everyday are the two things that will be my priority. I have been tracking about a week and already had a revelation - I had a day that my calorie intake was fairly low - the next day was a disaster..eating all the time and unhealthy choices. Good luck to you all..we can do this!!!
