Hi, welcome. I know how difficult it is to cut sugar. When you need a sugar fix try a fresh fruit in season. Watermelon, strawberries, peaches what ever you like.

The freezer thing is a good idea for me....the freezer is in the other room and I am too lazy to go rooting for something I shouldn't be eating...lol. I am the same way with sugars and carbs. I have to be very careful about what I eat. I love sugarfree jello. It has a sweet taste and satisfies a lot of the sugar cravings.

The Lord doesn't expect us to work harder than we are able. He doesn't (nor should we) compare our efforts to those of others. Our Heavenly Father asks only that we do the best we can - that we work according to to our full capacity, however great or however small that may be.

Pam I should write dramas. I can "picture" conversations. One names a food recently eaten, "That was so good that I don't want to spoil the taste of it in my mouth." The other is to take whatever is offered and, with great drama, put it in a freezer bag. "I will share this with you to celebrate (name the number of pounds you will lose before it comes out of the freezer)." You can probably do better than this, but have fun in the give-and-take.

Try adding almond, or peanut butter (the one w/o corn syrup or sugar , to that healthy oat meal (2 T) and, see if that makes a difference for you Susie_D

Pamela- try eating a few (6-8 half walnuts) when you crave a sweet.

Also, check medications you are taking for corn, sugar and sodium content, so you are aware of it.

Pamela, I have the same problem! If I stay off sugars and carbs for two weeks (like South Beach), the minute I add a carb back (even if it's healthy like long-cooking oatmeal) I'm in BIG TROUBLE! I get hungry - really hungry and I eat carbs like crazy. It's CRAZY.

Thanks Susanne! Yeah, I am trying really hard to figure out how to get them to understand how hard I am trying. I will try those words :) I can do that. But, it is a constant barrage of, here honey, try this. Or, oh, this is so good. Just try a little bite. gahhhhhh :( My MIL is really slim and can eat anything and I really think she doesn't want me to be successful with this. I'd love to understand the psychology of people who try to sabotage other people's efforts at health. My hubby too. I just don't get it.

Hope they (the saboteres ) wise up.
When faced with sweets I just excuse myself and go brush my teeth,
I don't care what you try to eat, it tastes nasty right after tooth paste,
makes it easier to say "No, Thank you!" and really mean it.

I am so worth this!!
Nothing tastes as good as thinner feels!!
I do random acts of kindness.

Pam, peppers and cucumbers and tomatoes and green beans and broccoli are carbs. I don't have any problem with them. It is "stuff" made with sugar and flour or fried and gooey and sweet that cries out "more, more" when I eat any. This is just to say that I understand. I wonder what the reaction would be if you smiled into the eyes of the saboteur and said, "You are such a tease."

Hi, I'm Pam, 47yo, and live in California. I am trying very hard to eliminate sugar (and most carbs) from my diet and am having a very rough time of it. I've done it successfully in the past and felt so much better and lost a bit of weight by doing it, but when I started adding carbs back in I totally went off the wagon and started inhaling sugar again at every opportunity. It is like an addiction for me and I am finding that I really need some help with this. I can't just eat sugar in moderation. It doesn't work that way for me. Even a little bit sets me off and I can't stop. Additionally, I have a husband and MIL who are really unsupportive of my effort and actually try to sabotage me for some reason, which makes it doubly hard. If anyone has a similar reaction to sugar and has any tips or tricks, please share them. I really need help with this. Thank you!!
