Restarted this challenge.

The first time I started this challenge was before 2012. I had my surgery on 12/17/2012 and since then have lost over 183 pounds.

I need to redo this challenge to help me get back in track.

Here to learn more about living with prediabetes. Started my food tracking and joined the Seated Chair exercises this morning. Just feeling overwhelmed at the moment. I realize that knowledge will help relieve some of my fears and anxieties. Thanks for being here.

Hello everyone!
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about eight years ago, when I was 19. Two years later, when I was pregnant with my son, the diagnosis was changed to a "slow to progress type 1." Just what I wanted to hear (note the sarcasm). Since then my control has been up and down and right now it's not so good. I am looking to get control of my blood sugar levels not just right now, but for good!

You must nourish:
-the body with healthy food
-the heart with joy, compassion, and love
-the mind with knowledge
-the spirit with equanimity and self-awareness"

Hi, I'm Debbie and trying to manage my diabetes. I am anxious to start this 8 wk challenge. Is there a printable page I can have as a visual tool to "SPARK" my 57 years old brain. If I see it, I am reminded without taking the time to get on my spark pages.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Thomas Wagner and I was a part of Spark a time back, However I am back, I need to do my best to stick with this. I feel my body deteriorating more and more as time goes on and I know that time will run out and I don't want to look back and regret not having done a think to better my life.

I am here to fight, I am here to win, I am here to learn, I am here for help and in the future, well I hope to inspire and help others as well. Would love to make some lasting friendships along the way.

On a side note: How do you get those weight bars at the bottom like some of you have?

I just joined this challenge. I have been Type 2 diabetic for many years, and I take pills and insulin. After my doctor changed my pills a couple months ago, my A1C jumped from 7.5 to 10.3. Tired of this extra weight and have a hard time functioning with glucoses over 300, so I am getting active about getting this condition under control! emoticon

Hello, I am an educator who is now going to focus on getting myself better educated. I have two adult daughters, one of whom is working on a Masters in Nutrition. She inspires me. As a teenager I was highly active and could eat whatever I wanted. As I aged and became more sedentary, my weight climbed. As many women do, I prioritized everyone else. Now...it's time for me! emoticon

My other inspiration is my parents. They are in their 70's and in great shape. They walk daily, work in their gardens, volunteer and have been in good health despite some serious bumps in the road. One big key to their success is their healthy diet. Another is being active every day.

in the past couple of years, I've watched two of friends work through significant weights losses but in unhealthy ways. One exercises compulsively while eating healthfully sometimes but binge eating at others. The second starves himself, eating two meals a day and then following up with laxatives. Both of their motivation is to LOOK better. Frankly, at 50+ I don't really care about people who judge me by looks alone. My goal is to find a more healthy balance for both eating and exercise. This really is a lifestyle change.

Thanks for listening. Have a great day! emoticon

Hi! I've been a diabetic for quite awhile, and actually signed up for this challenge about a year ago . Needless to say, I didn't complete it successfully. But now my sugars are out of control and my A1c is up.

I've never posted on the message boards before, and am hoping that by doing so, I'll be more motivated. I do believe that supporting each other, we can do this! emoticon

Hey,

I am new to this challenge. I am not diabetic, but my sister is. I have over 50 pounds to lose so I may not have to have knee replacement. They say for every 5 you lose it takes 10 off your joints.

During vacation I injured my Achilles Tendon so I am walking with a foot brace. I look pitiful but my mood is great.

My 18 year old grand daughter left for army basic combat training on Monday. So I am going to try to match my challenge on this team with the unreal challenges that she will be going through in July/Aug. in S. C. I stopped crying about this and got to work instead.

Many bright blessings.

Hi! My name is Lesley and I am borderline Type 2 Diabetes but my glucose tolerance is ok. I would be better off if I got rid of some (a lot of) pesky pounds and I need to educate myself to eat beneficially. I figured this team would be a good place to learn emoticon

Good morning, I actually start 3 days ago. I didn't introduce myself. I have started this challenge before. Failed to commit dropped out. I feel more dedicated. My goal is to get off insulin by the end of this year. I under stand I may need to take an oral medication for the rest of my life. I'm 76 years old. I have already lost 58 lbs and cut my insulin in half. I feel I need support from a community..... Can I count on you?
