Been here about 3 months or so after finding out I am diabetic and also weighing in at 245,
more than I have ever weighed in my life. Started walking at least 5 days a week and my wife is a great motivator for . We have also started eating healthier and so far I have lost 25 lbs and continuing to work at it.

Using this to track my meals so that I can correlate to my glucose readings and also understand my diet.

Hi every one and Happy New Year to all. I want and need to lose weight for health and comfort lol. But may have a little delay on the exercise part for a couple of health reasons that I am going to the doctor for but they aren't serious. Anyway looking forward to starting a program here to better my health.

Hi ya'll! I'm Missy! I am a Christian! I live in Benton. I am 51, married almost 23 yrs, have a daughter at Louisiana Tech and my son is about to be a jr in high school. This is my 3rd time coming to SP. I need to lose 50 lbs. I work as a special ed para in an elem school. I love reading and especially reading the Bible. My exercise of choice is walking mostly indoors on my treadmill or elliptical and with my Leslie Sansone videos. Having trouble getting motivated. I am addicted to food. Looking forward to meeing others like me here.

HI my name is Donna and I am 315. I am having trouble sticking with a healthy eating habit and workout plan. I work from home and am struggling. I have 4 small children three boys 8,6,1.5 and a daughter turning 3 this month. I start out good but stop. That gets very frustrating. I love fresh fruits and vegetables, love salads, seafood etc. I love too cook but am on a budget. Any advice for a emoticon stressed out mother/wife.

Hello my name is Connie and I live in the country not far from Deridder La. and I love it. I had gastric by pass surgery Aug. 8th,2013 to have a better quality of life. I was a bad diabetic, my Fibromyalgia was flaring up a lot and I have a bad back. My family doctor encouraged me to do it and I'm so glad he did. Since the surgery I have lost 85 pounds, I no longer take insulin shots or take diabetic pills. My back is feeling a lot better and my Fibromyalgia seems to be doing a lot better. loosing the weight was the best thing I could have done for myself.
I don't know what has happened but for some reason I took up a lot of room, I tried to correct it but it won't let me. Sorry!

Hey, Since I'm stalking around and posting I guess I ought to introduce myself! Might should have done that first. lol

Anyway I'm Victoria! I lost 90 lbs before I found sparkpeople.
I went from 365 to 330 my senior year of highschool just being a little more active and paying attention to food for the first time.
I went from 330 to 290 in college doing Atkins.
I went from 290 to 271 doing weight watchers with my coworkers.

Now thanks to Sparkpeople I've gone from 271 to 241 lbs!

I do Zumba 3-5 times a week depending on where I can fit it into my schedule. On non-Zumba days I try to walk or do a workout video.

My current goal is to get to 230 and start strength training! I used to love lifting weights, but once I started doing so much cardio I'm having trouble getting motivated to strength train. I'm working on it though!!

I may not be there yet,
but I'm closer than I was yesterday!

I'm a recent re-joiner to SparkPeople. Welcome! I have experience the yo yo-ing you mentioned. I was down over 100 pounds following the Weight Watchers plan and now I'm back up 60 pounds. My experience is you need to eat less and use a food journal. This site has a good one. I also need to move more and journal that too. Strength exercises are important as lean muscle burns more calories gram for gram than fatty muscle. Let's hope we can put all of this theory into practice and reach our goals!

Angie,I know the feelings you speak of. After heart surgery in April '12 I had lossed down to 183. Gained back to 195 at Thanksgiving and have stayed with two lbs. of there since. I kept eating "smart" but didn't monitor portions anymore. Back to watching amounts now and staying active. Hoping it takes, a lb. a week would be fine with me. I'm a retired teacher so I can relate.

Hi! I just signed up to take the SparkPeople challenge and I'm really excited! I've been using Plexus Slim for the past few months and at first I lost 20lbs. However, I have stopped losing weight and have actually begun putting some of the weight back on. So, as you can tell...I'm definitely in need of help! I'm a teacher so I'm not working right now and I'm hoping that I will be able to lose a few pounds and inches before I go back to work in roughly six weeks. Advice welcomed....
