I just joined this group I was not taking the weight loss seriously but now I have resolved to start over. Now I track everyday and have lost 6 pounds. My goal is to lose 150 pounds and weigh 150 pounds. I need to lose a whole person. I am throwing myself a 40th birthday bash and I want to look amazing. That gives me about 4 years to do it.

This is the first time I have posted in this group. I have lost since I joined. I am a diabetic new diagnosis and got out of the hospital at the end of August with pneumonia. I am still using oxygen and I am not yet 50!! I am going for the old me the one I knew 20 years ago the size that is. I would like to think I am smarter by now. But any loss is a gain in my health.

Hi my name is Emma I'm from Sydney Australia. I joined spark people as I need to loose 12 kg and get fit. I have put on soooo much weight in the last couple of months as I have been on workers comp and unable to move much due to a back injury.
I have really been enjoying reading all this fantastic info and working my way around this site.
I am looking forward in becoming motivated and loose the weight and become fit again.

Hi everyone. I'm Lan and I may be the oldest in this group. (You'd think I'd have learned by now!) I am widowed, live in a great condo complex where I have an indoor and an outdoor pool so there's no excuse not to exercise despite arthritis in both knees. I love the Nutrition Tracker. I've never before had so much trouble losing weight but when a dr. told me I was VERY obese (previous dr. said I carried my weight well) I took that as a challenge. I've been careful since mid July and have lost 7 pounds. I'm not HOPING, I'm DOING it!

Hi all. Weight has always been somewhat of an issue for me, but overall I was a fit person. Life changed a few years ago when it became about taking care of a family member and learning a new job. Finally I feel like life has calmed down and become somewhat routine. I can't wait to feel good and to look better. I have done okay this week, but I don't think I will see any results at the next weigh in. emoticon

I'm Jen, 38 years old, and in Southern California. Back in 2004, I lost 80 pounds and then got pregnant--and ended up gaining it all back again, and then some. I've battled my weight all my life, and I'm at the point where it's not about vanity or a dress size: it's about taking care of my body and my health. I'm on several prescriptions for high blood pressure and my blood sugar readings and hA1C have me as pre-diabetic. It's a big wake-up call, and I'm ready to make changes to improve my health.

Although I have a weight loss goal, it's not my highest priority. My first goal is to be able to walk my son to school (he just started kindergarten) without being winded and not have my hips and knees hurt. I hope to be able to run a 5K race by my 40th birthday in October '11.

That is always hard for me too as hubby and I both have been cautioned to watch our mercury levels from too much fish. I hate pork! We try to avoid beef as hubby has some health issues and needs to steer clear of it and I get so tired of chicken and turkey!!! I love nuts but if I have them around I get VERY carried away...

Its tough to work on the happy balance!

When I started tracking (the first time around) it was a shocker for me as I had never given much thought to it and I actually learned I had a pattern of extremely high calories on the weekends or other nights I'd go out... we're talking 5000 + calories in 24 hours NOT counting the drinks!!! and have 4 or 5 days a week that I was lucky if I hit 900 calories and they were all carbs! I still have to watch myself as its hard for me to remember to eat enough of the right things on a busy day but on a slow one I can pack away way more than I realize...

I'm the mother of three, ages 5,3, and 1 and I work full time and have a partially disabled husband (whom I adore). My 5 year old daughter has autism, so I've kinda got a full plate. I don't take care of myself, but some events in the last week have put it into perspective that I had better because too many people are counting on me.

Just joined last week and am excited to be part of this team. I turned 60 about 6 months ago. My plan to be at goal (40 pounds to lose) by that milestone birthday wasn't possible because of a minor medical problem (which has been fixed). So now it's time to begin. SparkPeople website is a fabulous resource but it's taking some time to find my way around!

Hi. I am 38 and have been struggling for the last 10 years with my weight. Up and down it goes. Now, it is the 2nd highest it has ever been. I have a 4 year old daughter (so, I can't use the baby fat excuse anymore) who is my motivator. My sister is my buddy. I know we could both use some help. Alright, I reckon I'm on the tail end of this group (just signed up yesterday).

I've never been on a diet before, never had a weight problem until a few years ago. I used to be a big beer drinker, quit that 3 years ago and lost about 20 lbs. Somehow those crept back up and brought friends! So now I have about 35 lbs to lose. I turned 50 this year so I don't want to waste any more time.

LOVE the nutrition tracker. Already I'm eating better. :-)
