To me three weeks seem a little long - of course depending on where it went and what they are looking at.

You also may want to consider getting a second opinion. We had all my niece's (leukemia) labs, scans, and tissue sent for a second opinion at the Cleveland Clinic. (My niece lives in Detroit - and did not have to be here) We are glad we did because there were some options they thought of here they had not thought of where she was treated, and we found another program in Detroit.

Thanks Jan. It's been 3 weeks now since the biopsy was sent off to another lab. I don't know if this is normal or not. That test is supposed to give me more information.

Fran - call the chapter anyway. They may have a solution to the 5 hr distance for you. I am sure you are not the only person who is that far away. - If you run into road blocks - send me a SP mail.

Still no report from my labs. My daughter had a breast biopsy today and her results will be in tomorrow afternoon. We are so focused on her right now that until I read this page I hadn't thought about my tests. That's a good thing! I'll feel like we can exhale when she hears something tomorrow. They say God never gives you more than you can handle......well I hate to be his first student to get an "F" in the "handling" department....lol

Fran, that does not sound silly at all. You must be overwhelmed by everything right now. I hope you get the second half soon so you can get rid of that limbo feeling and move forward.

Thanks Debbie. I went to their website as soon as Jan gave it to me. The closest chapter is 5 hrs from me. I signed up for their newsletters. I'm waiting for the second half of my diagnosis to tell me what type of lymphoma I have so I feel a little in limbo. That may be the denial part of my brain kicking in. I didn't sign up for the patient support yet but I will this week. I guess being a "patient" makes it all too real. Does that sound silly? For the last year I've had one scare after another with my lymph glands and they always came back negative. This explains all that stuff going on all year anyway. Thanks for your input.
Fran

Fran, I too am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Jan is right about contacting LLS. I was just at a kickoff breakfast yesterday for our local Light the Night walk. I went with my friend, Leslie, who is a 5 year lymphoma survivor. I met lots of great people there, both survivors and the LLS people who work with them. I was amazed that every survivor was greeted by name by the LLS staff. They all remembered each person, what their story was, and were genuinely concerned about their progress. I also learned about all the great strides made in the past 20 years in lymphoma treatment. They will be a great source of support and information for you.

Fran, a marathon is intimidating - for some - even a 5k is intimidating. Do what you want to do, feel like you want to do and can do - and don't be intimidated by crazy guys like me. :-)

Thanks for the link Jan. I do stay active but doing a big thing like a marathon or run sound real intimidating. I will keep active to get my body stronger.

Fran - I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Make sure you contact the patient services at your local LLS chapter www.lls.org (you can find the chapter using your zip code).

You may not be there to be as active as some of us. However, I want you to know, there is a lot of science behind the benefit of activity in the cancer patient. You need to continue to exercise as much as you can - you want to be in control of the cancer and do the things you want to do - not the other way around.

This week I was diagnosed with stage 1 - B cell lymphoma. Next week the next results are due to let me know if its indolent or aggressive. Then I'll find out the course of treatment. I've lost 70 lbs this last year and have been feeling better than I have in years. I worked at getting that weight off so it must not have been the Lymphoma...lol

Reading the posts on this team you guys are so active, I'm not there yet. Congratulations for all of you doing the runs and other activities.
