Just wanted to let you know - I did a 16 mile run with the Northern Ohio chapter Team in Training run teams. These are people who are fundraising for the leukemia and lymphoma society and in turn run either the Columbus, Marine Corps, or Nike Marathons.

It was so cool to see the purple singlets - running along the towpath in the fall like temperatures and weather....

It has been quiet here lately! Just so you know, my training for the Columbus Marathon is on schedule. I have run 9-6 and 10 miles this week, and I have had perfect weather.

My run today has a blog - in case you want to read it.

Thanks for the advice, Jan. I will look at the running programs and modify them for walking.

After going to that meeting yesterday, I am definitely joining Team in Training. The people at LLS are just amazing. I was so inspired I came home and changed my LTN walk goal from $100 to $1000!

Good for you Debbie on the LtN. The Pittsburgh marathon will likely be in the spring mailing.

You can do a couple of things. If you sign up for TNT - they will give you a plan. You can Google it - or you can look at Runners world or John Bingham's, Hal Higdon's or Jeff Galloway's programs for runners. (I know you are not going to run it) and look at the distances and then just walk them instead of running, that is typical what TNT does.

SP mail me if you need more details.

I am going to a kickoff meeting this morning for the Light the Night walk in Pittsburgh in September.

I emailed about Team in Training but right now they are signing people up for winter events and the Marathon is not on the list yet. If anyone knows of a training program to walk a half, please let me know where to find it.

Nothing like starting your day with a 40 min run. Have a great day.

It is a beautiful day in the Cleveland area. Commuted to work and home on my bike ... good way of combining joy and usefulness.

Debbie, I know you - you can walk the half. Cathy went from not really walking any distances to walking the Cleveland half this year.

Remember what John Bingham says - the miracle isn't that I finished - the miracle is that I had the courage to start.

Hi, all. One of my good friends is a lymphoma survivor ~ her sister is undergoing treatment right now and it is not going as well.

I did the Light the Night walk with her last year and have already signed up for this year's walk at the end of September. I am thinking about walking the Pittsburgh half marathon next May as part of Team in Training. I have only done 5Ks so far, and I am not that fast, so the half is a little daunting. I am going to look for a training program this week and see what it will take.

Mornin' friends ... it is muggy here so todays 10 mile training run was a bit of a challenge. However, I did it. Five of the fall team decided to use an organized run as a training run - and while there - we ran into a Team in Training coach from last year - and two of my TNT cycling buddies.

I did a respectable run in a 10 min mile pace.

If you have not done team in training before, but have thought of walking or running a half or a whole marathon, ride a 100 mile bike ride, or do an olympic distance triathlon - Team in Training is an awesome way of doing it. Check it out at your local chapter.

If you are less ambitious - you can still help the team in training folks. We often need volunteers for their training (staffing waterstops and SAG vehicles for the cyclists), and I am sure your chapter would love to have you help with that as well.

Tina - I am sorry for your loss - ANDORAH - LiveSTRONG.

I am a 13 event Team in Training alumni - working on my 14th in October. Team in Training and the leukemia and lymphoma society is an incredible organization, and I am glad that was the charity I chose. I have had many great experiences with them, including a ride around lake Tahoe with a former patient of mine who has mantle cell lymphoma (he decided it was more fun to golf than to bike ... go figure LOL) and I ran the last half mile of a marathon with a colleague of mine son - who was diagnosed with lymphoma a year prior.

Tina, there is an army of us out there - who will do what ever we can to make sure couples like you - doesn't involuntarily separate because of cancer.

Hi. Good to see some activity in this team. My mom lost her battle to non-hodgkins lymphoma in January 2003 a few days after her 60th birthday. I walked the Walk Disney World Half Marathon in 2005 in her honor but haven't done any events since. Hoping to train to run the half maybe in another year. It was a tremendous experience - one I would hope to do again.

Tiny, so sorry for your loss. ANDORIAH, yay to winning your battle and congrats on doing an event in November. It's an awesome experience to see all those purple shirts together! You'll love it - I'm sure.

Congrats on joining TNT! And I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm a Lymphoma survivor and I've joined TNT to do a cycling event this November. It's a great group and I'm very excited about it.

I wish you the very best!

I don't see anyone on here but figured i would introduce myself. I'm Tiny a 27 year old single mom- not by choice. My daughters father and my husband was taken from us March 2007 to Lymphoma. He fought hard 3 months, but it was too much in the end. My daughter was 3 1/2 months old.

Now i want to lose weight and run in his honor. I've just requested info from Team in Training with the LLS and i'll be looking into American Cancer Society.

I was born and raised in Queens, NY and currently reside in GA. Look forward to getting fit with everyone!
