Fantastic! I have a friend -- a fellow MT -- who is studying acupuncture at the moment, and she loves it. Unfortunately there are no schools that offer either it or OM here in Michigan, otherwise that would be something I would pursue, as well.

I do a lot of stretching, joint mobs, MF, positional release and other sports-oriented techniques in my practice (75% in a chiro office), too. I find the work so much more INTERESTING (not to mention effective) than just rub-rub-rub...er, I mean Swedish, lol.

Hello, Rheynklaw. Thank you for replying and the congrats. The program, through Rasmussen College, is a 2-year AAS degree program (3 years if you are are a part time student like me). I do well with Swedish Massage. However, I excel with deep tissue and trigger point release. In almost all cases, I incorporate stretching and myofascial techniques. Whatever the modality, I try to tailor the session to the individual's needs. Once I have my certification and license in hand, I will probably get a business license to practice part time on my own and continue with my full time grocery store bakery job. The reason being is that next year my plan is to enter an Oriental Medicine program.

Congratulations on finishing school! How long was your program? Do you have any favorite modalities?

Good for you for not just giving up on yourself. What's the game plan?

I am an aspiring massage therapist. I just recently passed my NCETMB, and I am completing my associates program this week. After which, I will be able to apply for state licensure and conversion to National certification. This is a very exciting time for me!

I started SparkPeople, because I thought I was infallible. Everyone always told me that you gain weight when you quit smoking, and I should have started working out and watching what I eat when I did quit. Over the course of about a year and a half, I put on about 35 pounds. I decided that it is time for me to lose that extra padding now.

Be Well!
