Name: Anita
Location: IL

Interests: Reading, nature walks, DANCING!!!

Goals in life: Lypossage cert., learn ashiatsu, world travel with fam.

Why choose LMT?: Been in a hospital job for 8yrs and hate it. Too much stress and we are open 24/7. I never see my fam and have missed out many important things due to school and work. I just cannot handle people yelling at me everyday. I have always wanted to do something I enjoy for a career, but also something that was actually meaningful and help others.

Been an LMT: grad in jul 2007, cert and lic. '08. Self employed due to son's birth and work schedule conflicts with the hubby.(We switch off with childcare.) I hope to finally be with an employer within the next year *fingers crossed* I have a place in mind, I used to be a client there and just fell in love with the atmosphere. Even after 8 Yrs., I know its the place for me.

Modalities: Deep tissue, connecting style, reflexology.

Rewards: I've met wonderful, open- minded people. I love working with the elderly. I did some hours at a nursing home and it opened my eyes to how lonely these people are. They were so grateful for my being there to chat them up and give the a "lil rub!" The oldest lady was 104. I felt honored in her presence. Its a big thing for a stranger to let you into their personal space. I am happy to give them a safe and comforting environment in which they may connect with themselves once again.

5 yrs from now: I want to be employed by someone other than myself, and just keep learning and enjoy my life!

Massage is an awesome career choice; the best thing I have ever done. I really hope it continues to get the reconition it deserves in the medical commmunity. I am much happier, relaxed and I appreciate people more. At the hospital, I was negative, depressed and unwilling to enjoy life. I felt like a robot. With massage, I have a purpose, it calms me to slow and enjoy my moments on earth.
