I am pretty sure that is the same one. The first day's breakfast sounds good - fluffy pancakes...I don't have any syrup in the house...what else could I use....any suggestions?

I think I saved the GH plan to my computer. I know I printed it off too, but can't find it. Need to start eating better than I have been. I need less sugar in my diet. I drank my last pop sometime last week. Now I need to cut my sugar from my tea and just add lemon.

I will have to check out the meal plans for lower cholesterol on Spark, since I need to lower my cholesterol. I have changed anything in a while. Thanks!!

I found a Meal Plan for the Mediterranean Diet on Good Housekeeping's website that you might want to take a look at. It might give you more ideas.

On you SP Nutrition page you can chose to Edit your Nutrition Goals. "Meal Plan Settings" towards the bottom is the place where you can to choose Low Cholesterol.
There is also "Suggested Nutrition Program & Goals" where you can add things manually that you want to track. This is where I added my supplements I want to track.

* Lately I haven't been the best with doing my tracking like I used to. I do share my Nutrition & Fitness on my Spark Page if you care to take a look, but like I said... I've been neglectful lately, but I do plan to do better.

Thanks for the quick reply - I do have to watch carbs because of some cholestoral and blood sugar issues that just came to light in the last week - but what you suggest sounds do-able for me without quite so much of the fruit and grains. Thanks!!

Do it, NOW!

Follow the Spark People Nutrition plan and it will help you know how to eat. It is really close to how we should eat following the Mediterranean Way. When I follow the SP Nutrition Plan and I substitute with fish whenever I can.

Here's an example of my typical day:

Breakfast
3/4 c Cream of Wheat made with water
1/2 tbs real butter (this is the only time I eat butter. I love butter on hot cereal.)
1/2 oz of raisins
1 tbs honey (sometimes)
black coffee
1 serving of fresh fruit like blueberries, strawberries, an orange, or grapefruit.

If I don't eat cereal I will eat 1 serving of Plain Greek Yogurt instead. I try to eat Yogurt sometime during the day. Sometimes it is a snack with fruit.

Lunch
1 - 3oz can of Albacore Tuna (in water)
on top of 1 small tomato cut into wedges (or lettuce or both)
topped with 1/2 tbs of Kraft Olive Oil Mayo,
1 tbs capers or 2 Queen olives.
1 serving Ak-Mak Crackers

Dinner is sometimes tough for me because of DH so we try to eat simple grilling is our most favorite
1 4oz chicken breast (no skin)
1 c steamed broccoli
1/2 c brown rice
1 c romaine lettuce salad with olive oil & red wine vinegar
3oz red wine

Snacks
carrots with hummus
or
string cheese & Ak-Mak Cracker

I adjust this according to my calories needed for the day. I sometimes have a problem with gluten so I don't eat as much of the grains and breads as suggested. To get the grains I eat the brown rice, Ak-Mak crackers, or sometimes I'll have a whole wheat tortilla filled with 1 oz cheese & 1/4 c black beans to make a quesadilla for lunch.

Drink your water. NO Sodas. NO Junk Food. Whole Foods whenever possible. Limit sweets. The Pyramid will guide you.

I hope this helps you. Back to my first comment; I think the SP Nutrition Tracker will help you a lot. From what I've seen they are almost dead on the Mediterranean Diet.

I'm still trying to get my feet under me with this Mediterranean Way of eating, and find myself asking for some helpful hints from those of you who are more experienced with this plan. What does a typical day of eating the Mediterranean Way look like for you?

Do it, NOW!
