Hi all! I used to be more patient, and in the past 5 years have allowed myself to give in to being discouraged. I love that this is a group who celebrates all the small, slow, steady steps you REALLY need to make to actually lose and keep it off. I always told others, make baby steps! But for the past few years, I haven't reminded myself of that!

I'm back onto baby steps - I decided 2011 was my year of making small changes, and my year of NOT beating myself up for any "slips" or even for enjoying food.

I really am glad I found this group!

Hey team - I have been a sparkmember for a couple of years learning, reading, and only until lately, really utilizing all the tools the website offers. I have learned lots of good things on here, and gotten lots of encouragement from other members on here as well. I initially lost 22 lbs, but gained some back. I CAN say that I have maintained an average 12 - 15 lb weight loss over the last year. I too realize this is a slow process and having hypothyroidism and PCOS makes it slower. But I am learning to take control and not let things control me. Thanks for creating a team like this. Go Team Go!!

Hello all.

I'm Jenn and have been sparking - on & off - for about 4 years. I recommitted on Jan 3, 2011 and am down 10 pounds so far. I know that it won't always come off quickly, or even at all sometimes.

I've lost weight in the past and never been successful at maintaining. So now I'm focusing my energy on building a healthy lifestyle. My dog loves all the walks and I am enjoying the fresh air.

Look forward to getting to know you!

Hello from Germany!

I've been trying to lose those "last ten pounds" for what seems like forever now, but in reality is about six months. This is the year when my plateau will realize that I'm going to turtle it away, so watch out, 160, I'm getting close! emoticon And once that line's crossed, who knows what can follow!

I'm about to celebrate one of those 'milestone' birthdays and have decided that what I really want is to finally be as strong and fit as I've always seen myself as. So what if it takes some extra time! So I'm happy to be here, to find new motivation when I feel more like slacking, and to help keep that spark going!

Hello.
My name is Chrisssie and I lost 68lbs in 2010. It was so easy the first couple of months and has slowed down to almost a hault. I have been stressing the last couple of months about this plateau I am on, and have had to really focus on consistency. I love sparkpeople and have met such great people.
I needed to find this team! Just reading the thread about what this team means to you...makes me feel at home already!
IT IS OK FOR ME TO LOSE 1-2 LBS A MONTH!

Hi everyone! My name is Terri and I'm a Turtle!

I can't begin to tell you how thrilled I am to find this team. I'm always discourage about how slowly I lose - so discouraged that I have considered any loss a failure and find myself diving back into old habits.

But not today. Not this time.

I have all of you to understand my slowness...and I can understand yours.

I'm happy to be a part of something that recognizes success - however tiny. A team that reminds me that if I add all the tiny together, they become something substantial and something I can be proud of.

Slow and steady wins the race - I will remind myself of this everyday - and everyday, I will have you.

Thanks Team!!

I love reading Buddhabelly every week and thought I'd join the team to see if it would make a difference in my attitudes.

I have 10 more pounds to go and have had this since last Summer. I can't seem to get them off. I like food. I have cut out some foods and done all the right things but the last 10 won't budge.

I am hoping that come spring and summer and I get out of the house and do more things that the weight will come off.

I am just so tired of not losing, and not eating chocolate, that I am about ready to give up. But.... I really want to be all i can be and this 10 pounds means that I can hold my head up high and call myself a winner. So 10 pounds in 6 months is a pound or so a month.
Slow enough?

I am hoping you all will give me the extra boost I need.
Thank you ,
Barbara

I'm new to the Slowest Loser Team but have been trudging along trying to lose weight.
I have lost over 60lbs since I started in August with a significant loss in the beginning but then again I am Morbidly obese so should have a large weight loss especially in the beginning. I am now going at a turtles pace. My weight loss icon is a turtle :) then I saw this blog and didn't even know there was a team called the Slowest Loser and I said "My People" so here I am. I hope to be motivated, encouraged and inspired by this team.
We are all in this together working for the same thing. Weight loss and better health. emoticon

Hi everyone! Loved the blog and thought this is a team that fits me. Due to hypothyroid issues I struggle with losing weight and of course living in our society "I want it off NOW". So I look forward to this team that might help me lose that attitude and be happy for the small/slow progress I make.

I live in wyoming with my dh, a boxer named nottingham and our cat Sydney.

I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi everyone, I just found this SP site a week ago and this team today. What a God send.
I want to lose 50 lb this year and this team is so right for me. Slow and steady. I'm slow at losing weight I'm concentrating on healthy eating and not the scale which has been hard for me in the past as I would weigh every day, this site has taught me to weigh once a week, I'm thinking weigh once a month. The Slowest Loser Blog was inspirational and motivational.
Thanks everyone
Oh, I'm 52 and married 32 years, have 2 grown daughters no grands yet. Like to play golf in spring and fall, read, knit, travel. Going to Greece in May to travel the path of Paul. Trying to get in 5000 steps / day to be able to sight see and walk.

I loved reading your blog. I have wanted to lose weight for sometime now but seemed to get side tracked with life. This has been already a year of change for me due to health problems and I am ready to fully dedicate myself to this lifelong goal of mine. I hope I will find the support that I am needing to overcome this huge hurdle. Just reading the recent blogs makes me feel I am in the right place.

Good morning everyone: After reading your blog I knew this was the place for me because " I WANT THE WEIGHT OFF NOW"!!!!! But I know it won't happen that way. It took me years to get this weight on and the safe way to get it off is slow and steady. I just get so discouraged because I don't have the support I need at home so after work I always fall off my diet plan. There is always beer and goodies at my house every night. At work I have the support of my co workers so I do well during the day but in the evening when I get home I can take in anywhere from 1 to 2 thousand calories. What does tend to help is the fact that I like to exercise. It helps me to burn off the frustrations of the day. Unfortunately I don't have on line access at home so that I can get the motivation I need during the evenings and on the weekends but I am going to continue to try.

Hi everyone!
My goal isn't really a poundage goal but more to get into a healthy body fat range, and get more to the middle of a healthy bmi range. My body REALLY likes where I am now, though so I lose about .2 a week, (if that) so yeah, I get the slow part. But reading the slowest loser blogs always make me feel better, I am not alone!

New to Slowest Loser after reading recent blog -- this sounds like the group for me! I started with SP in the summer of 2010 because my BlackBerry app world included the SP app that let me count my calories, but I was a late bloomer and did not start losing in earnest (THIS decade) until, after a ballroom dance competition, a friendly judge whispered in my ear that the reason my husband and I did not win is because the judges did not watch us because we need to lose weight. I was really miffed at narrow minded attitudes and we have changed how we practice and learn (I have decided to dance for ME, to still compete because the process is fun, and my hubby/partner and I are having WAY more fun dancing now). I have hit a plateau and instead of giving up, just today, I changed my date to reach goal and NOW I found this group yeah! I have not gotten any comments on my last few blogs and am feeling a little lonely and could use encouragement (I am still posting encouraging notes to others, but they seem to be going into a black hole - not like the first few months, when I had so many folks responding back. (Makes me wonder -- do I stink or something? Just kidding. Thanks for putting this slowest loser group together!

Hi, I am Leneisha from Jamaica. Loved the blog. The concept makes real sense!! I think I fall in this category. I have lost a little over 28lbs since June 2010 and have kept it off. I have friends who have lost more than this in a short period of time and put it right back on with even bonus. Looking forward to the conversations!

Read the blog - loved it.

I've been a fast loser before but whenever it gets slow I give up. This time I'm a slow loser from the beginning and I'm determined not to be disheartened by it and keep up my good work!

I keep reminding myself that to maintain weight is positive, and while the energy I'm putting in at the gym, or the restraint I'm placing on myself when it comes to food is not translating into immediate weight loss, I'm actually doing wonders for my overall health and fitness. And embedding a lifetime of good habits while I'm at it!!

Looking forward to being a part of it!

Hi all!

My name is Cindy. I'm a 41-year-old mother of two, a karate teacher, organist, writer, knitter and sewer. Also busy emoticon I joined Spark People back in May 2010, and have been losing slowly, with frequent pauses, ever since. I seem to be a turtle in weight loss no matter what, averaging about three pounds a month, but I'll get where I'm going in the end!

Hi,

Hi, all. Definitely not new to SP and have been a team member for several months, but finally feel like introducing myself and getting more involved in the team. Have lost and regained weight so many times I feel like I know every approach to losing weight that exists, but I still learn something new on SP nearly every day. Good luck to everyone

Hi,

I have been a member of SP for awhile, I started out pretty good last year but then within a month or two it all fell apart. Then I went thru a some medical issues that lead to hospitalizations. Anyway I came back in December and I have been trying really hard to stick with it. I have been having little 1 pound losses but instead of getting discouraged I am trying to be positive that at least it is a loss. Oh and I joined because I love reading the Slowest Loser Blogs. emoticon

Greetings! I am Lori, queen of the fast start followed by the slow slide off the plan 2 to 3 month later. That resulted in a lose 30-ish pounds, gain 15 or so, followed by another round of lose and gain. This time i'm taking it a little slower. To get to my goal weight will require at least 2 years, i'm estimating, then diligence for the rest of my life to stay there.I've been on SP for a little over a month and have lost the first 10 pounds, which for me is the easy weight, now i've slowed down. So far i've mainly been using the calorie counter. I've just joined a couple of teams, and hope to find the motivation to add some activity to the mix. Maybe this time the emoticon will evolve into the emoticon .

Welcome, Norah! emoticon

Sounds like you are putting together a plan.
You might find it helpful to try the Spark meal plans for some good ideas on what to eat within your limits.
And of course move, move, move! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello! I'm 50-60lbs over weight and a very slow loser. Right now I'm trying to get into the habit of tracking everything and trying to figure out the right combination of foods to eat and what not. Also trying to work in a bit of exercise every day, even if so far it's only 50 squats and some situps and walking up some steps here and there. Nothing really structured as of yet.

Norah -- If it's in a can, a bag, or a box, it's probably not good for you so put it down.

Hello everyone on the Slowest Loser Team. My name is Jan and I'm from NJ. Have been a SparkPeople member since Nov. 2007 and have been a fan of the Slowest Loser blogs since they started. Reading one today, I realized that I am definitely a Slowest Loser since I have been unable to shed a single pound over the past several months. If that's not slow, I don't know what is. When I first joined SP, I lost 10 pounds, then regained it when a health issue prevented me from exercising for several months. Recently, I've doubled my exercise time and held my calorie count under the maximum daily amount, but not an ounce can I lose. I don't think I have the will power or strength to go on my 'no carbs - 4 hours of exercise every night' diet as I did in my 20s, but I've got to try something new.

Good morning everyone. My name is Gloria and I've been on sparks for quite a while and can't seem to reach my goal. I'd like 2011 to be my successful year, I'm so tired of doing the yo-yo thing!
I need to cut the strings on the yo-yo and GO!!

Hi everyone. My name is Jennifer and I have been here on spark for about two years now. I am still struggling to meet my goals and make this a lifestyle. I just can't seem to stop slipping back into my habits of eating to much and moving too little. The good news is that, after three years, I have not given up and I have not put the weight back on. But my motivation is slacking and I hope this team can help put me back on track!
