You'll find lots of great people here, and it's encouraging to know we don't have to lose all at once all those extra pounds we gained over the years. Here we just go slow, but steady. And if sometimes we take a step backwards, that's OK, as long as we get back to work and take two forward! Then we'll still ahead of the game! So track your water and food, exercise at least 10" a day, and drop by the message boards to keep touch! Good luck on your journey!

I am the mom of four, they range from 9-19. I have been married to the most wonderful man for 13 years now. I will be 39 this year and I am really tired of being fat.
I am new to Spark-people and I really liked the blog posts from this group so I thought I would mosey over and check it out. I am trying to lose weight- yet again. I have gained so much weight since high school and am about to turn 40 I decided I don't want to be fat at 40 so we are workin' it now, actually putting an effort into it just not doing it halfway.

Hello, I am the mother of 2 boys , 2.5 yrs and 3 months. Like most moms I put my children before myself and have let my health and weight maintenance take a back seat to parenting. However, I want to be a good health role model for my children so I have to act now while they are young and impressionable.

Finally decided to come to this team. I have lost approx 40 lbs in the last 2 years. guess that qualifies me for a slow loser. I love it when people lose so fast and I have spurts, but over all I am not losing fast. I guess I am happy to be maintaining a sloooooooooooooooow lose. Maybe I will fit in here. I live in Alabama and am 70 years old and still working and playing.

Happy Friday Slowest Losers,

I LUV the name of this team. I believe that I belong on this team BECAUSE!!!!! I have been trying to lose weight my whole life. As a child, as a teenager, as a young adult, & now as a middle age adult. Talk about slowest loser. I have lost weight, gained weight, lost weight, gained it back & then some. I have had it. I could give a thousand ligitamate reasons, and excuses about why I am now at an all time highest weight of my life and it is very scary.
So, now I hope & pray that I can lose weight SLOWLY and KEEP it OFF with the help & support of all of you. Im happy to announce that since joining SparkPeople this past Monday I have lost 6 lbs. Water weight I say but I made several changes that I knew would make a difference. The rest of the lbs I know will come off much harder but if I hadnt stopped in here on Monday well you know the story about that.

I just cant help going on & on. It just feels so good to talk about all this with folks who know where Im coming from.

So thank you everyone for the welcome and I look forward losing weight with you all.

Good Friday morning!! new to slowest loser, but not to SP....Not only am I the slowest loser, but the most stubborn loser...I have a tendency to like food and therefore, not change my habits...Can't keep up with the rest of the fast challenges, I get frustrated and quit. Hopefully, here I can make progress without feeling like I quit.. emoticon

Hello ~ I'm Lzjrnyhome. I joined Spark a few months ago and as per my personality tried to rush through the steps only to become frustrated and overwhelmed. Then I went back and reread the Slowest Loser blog and reaquainted myself with why I'm trying to lose weight, to become a healthier person to live a longer life so that I can enjoy my family and future grandchildren. I have multiple health issues stemming from CRPS and thus

Now taking things one step at a time I'm focusing on developing good habits - drinking water, sleeping well, and moving everyday - concentrating on building a solid foundation instead of a card house that falls over when I exhale.

I look forward to being part of this optimistic team and developing good habits right along with all of you.

Tracking your food is very helpful. Also measuring and weighing your portions. I was TOTALLY amazed at how bad my estimations were...I almost always took twice as much as I should have. Now my little kitchen scale is my best friend.

Hello from not so sunny California (its been pouring all day).
My name is Rayne, (just like the weather today) I have a 13 and a 16 year old, and 10+years of old fat to lose. I have tried every diet there is and have finally come to the conclusion that I have to eat the proper food and portions as well as get some movement into my daily life. I think I have been more of a slug than a tortise, but that has begun to change. In the last few weeks, I have finally begun to exercise in earnest. Yep my ticker tape only says I want to lose 15 lbs, but that is by MAY - I actually want to lose about 75 lbs. I finally got a Wii and have been doing the wii fit plus every day for at least 30 minutes. Now if I can only make myself track my food, I will be headed in the right direction. I am happy to be here and to join you all in this journey to a healthier life.

Hi! It took me 56 weeks to take off 40 pounds (which I suppose is already "Slowest Loser" status), and the weight is definitely not coming off as fast as it was before, since i could just cut a few hundred calories and exercise more. However, since then, losing a pound a week is seriously pushing it; due to the weight loss, coupled with my height (5'1"), now my basal metabolic rate is at around 1300. Weight loss of over a pound a week would involve cutting my calories drastically and exercising much more than i am willing to. I don't want to injure myself overexercising and i don't want to put my body in starvation mode. Therefore, i completely revamped my goal date for 40 weeks from now to lose 20 pounds. Half a pound a week!

Hello, I am one of the turtles who is always working at loosing weight. I bounce back and forth so much I feel like a yoyo... I started at 378 and I am down to 308 then when I weighed at the therapy office today I am back up to 311.Dr said it has to do with my diabetis being off. and the pain and swelling in my leg still from my total knee replacement. I will loose this one way or the other. I am walking a mile and a half 2 days a week and I do exercise everyday. please check out my page and it will tell you more about me.

I've been reading the blogs & absolutely LOVE them! I joined in today & am excited about being sensible. I was doing quite well losing before 2 or 3 # per week but the closer I got to goal the more I panicked about maintaining. Surprise - I stopped losing & started gaining. Hi everyone I was recommended by one of your members to come here. I am a slowest loser. I've lost 34 lbs within the last two years. I've got a short term goal to lose 7 lbs and to be 160. I'm not in a hurry however, my long term goal is not to gain and be as heavy as I was before.

I'm here to give support for you and I'm hoping you will give me support in my journey.

ps I found the right thread to post and introduce myself., lol
