Hi everyone!

I love to cook but I love to eat more and instead of cooking what was in my freezer/fridge, I would just go by a drive thru...No more!! I hope to be able to cook more recipes, make healthier food choices, and lose weight in the process!!

Never looking back or too far in front of me/The present is a gift and I just wanna BE....

Hello teammates!

My name is Tracey! Right now I live in VA but will be moving in a few months to WI. I am getting married June 18th. I have been on Spark since July 2009 and I have lost about 120 pounds. I love to cook! I have been able to adapt recipes and create new ones. I decided to join the team to get new ideas!

Hi I"m Nanna. I've been cooking for the last 35 and a half years. I've learned most of my cooking from my late mother-in-law. Her idea of eating was meat and potatoes. She taught me how to make spaghetti sauce. That recipe is My cookbook Nanna's Cookbook. I went along for many years this way then the last two years I began thinking about healthier eating. I got serious this February when I came on board. I accept the challenge of cooking healthier. My salt shaker is very lonely and I have become an ingredient reader. I went from being scared to being angered at the unpronounceable ingredients.

I never plan anything, especially meals. I want to learn how to make heart healthy foods with the little time I have, steer my family in that direction when they're making dinner, and make my kitchen a cleaner more organized place.

I am a total dining out diva who wants to change her ways. I live alone and eat out entirely too much because it's convenient and I don't like to cook. I joined this team so I can get extra motivated to organize my kitchen and meal planning, force myself to cook more, avoid tossing out leftovers and save money.

Hi, my name is Kal. I am a self professed foodie. My son is a chef. Every week I make a meal plan and shop from it. We have culled our cookbook collection (hundreds) to include MANY that are healthy and I use many that I get from healthy online sources. It is my goal to add more and more whole grains and locally grown produce. This is a great challenge. I'm glad I came across it. Can't wait to dig in and have it help me help my family further our journey to a more healthy lifestyle!

Hi, I have always wanted to eat healthy, but I love food, the taste, but also I am picky about my food too. So I hope to learn some healthy ways to cook food that is full of favor and yummy. :)

Hi, my name is Angela. I decided to join this challenge hoping that I will get some new ideas of how to incorporate even more healthy foods into my diet. Since joining Sparkpeople in late January, I have already made adjustments to my diet (thank you Nutrition Tracker). I eat food that I prepare about 90% of time and some new ideas and/or recipes would be welcome.

Hi I am a wife/mother of four/and Nanna of 1 beautiful granddaughter. My family is a mixed health bag. My husband is a must have something sweet before going to bed. I can't curse him for that. My daughter is in to health while her husband loves to eat. My other three kids eat on automatic. My granddaughter has a sugar intolerance in that when she eats too much we spend the next four hours pealing her off walls. Then she goes into a total meltdown. I am looking forward to cooking healthy meals that are agreeable and very much liked.

Hi All! My name is Aimie and I am in my third week of cooking healthier meals for dinner. I have noticed that the dinner meal is where I seem to struggle most with calorie and portion control so I started posting pictures every night on my facebook account to keep my friends holding me accountable for my choices. I have had great success with this approach and I am sure this challenge will be very fun and rewarding. I love cooking and am eager to try new techniques and experience different foods.

Hello everyone, my name is Sandy and I am married for 30 years to a wonderful man who has recently been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and I am learning to cook for him and his dietary needs. I have a kitchen set up for his needs and I am wheat intolerant so we have a rule in our house nothing white, no white flour, no sugar and no starch allowed.
So it makes it very interesting when I prepare our meals. Hope to meet others who have the same issues when cooking for these health conditions. emoticon emoticon

Hi everyone! I am 25 and have been consistently on Spark since Jan 1, but originally joined in May 2009. I have no problems with getting exercise in, the biggest challenge for me is eating clean and healthfully and COOKING...aka NOT eating out at restaurants. I come from a family that loves to eat out at restaurants so I kind of think it's "in my blood" so to speak. ANyway, very excited about this challenge!!

Hello everyone, my name is Bernadette and I'm happy to be a part of this Challenge. I've started cooking health a few weeks ago and really really enjoy it. I shop a lot at Whole Foods and love love love the products there, they inspire me to cook healthy. So, I'm so ready to meet this challenge. I began Sparks back in 2008 and just didn't do so well, but I'm back now and very committed. I'm also looking into trying the raw foods. I've had several dishes and loved them. Does anyone have the Vitamix? emoticon

Hello Everyone!

I always try to cook foods at home and stick to the all natural way for everything. Whole Grain Breads, Brown Rice, Freshest Vegetables, No Packaged foods, etc. BUT....my boyfreind is a Hamburger/FrenchFry/Pizza/TacoBell/Poptart kind of guy so it is REALLY a challenge to cook around my house.

I'm looking for help with creating some nutritious meals that we both enjoy! emoticon

I joined the Cooking Challenge so that I could begin cooking healthier for my family. I work full-time, so I fell in that pit of always doing quick and easy meals that were primarily processed products.
As wife and mother, it's my responsibility to see to it that my family eats healthy, and by joining this challenge I'm one step closer to meeting that goal.

Hello! I believe strongly in the value of sit-down family dinners, which we have at least 6 days a week. Now I need to make those dinners healthier! My son and I are both celiac and dairy-allergic, and I'm a vegetarian. So it's not easy to cook in our home :) I'm really good at adapting recipes to be gluten-free and vegetarian; dairy free is harder, and now getting enough protein in relation to carbs is a challenge!

My name is Peggy and I have been doing SP for a about 6 weeks. I completed the 28 day Boot camp and found it helped me stick to some kind of strength training most every day.
This challenge appealed to me because I have recently wanted to break out of the rut of eating the same foods all the time,. Over the past year I have changed my food buying habits - purchasing to more local and organic food products. I have always taken a brown bag lunch and find it more appealing than cafeteria food( plus a lot more cost effective) I do need to develop better habits around planning meals and a grocery list, I know it would help me save money and also cut down on food waste. I think this challenge will help me develop habits to reach my goals to eat healthier. emoticon

We have a restricted diet in our home, my second son is type 1 diabetic and has milk intolerance, I have celiacs. So our home is grain and dairy free - makes cooking meals a challenge sometimes.

My biggest goal is to develop a plan, avoiding the 'what the heck do I cook tonight' anxiety at 5pm.

Hello Everyone! Just signed up today for the challenge. I love to cook and starting to use a variety of foods and herbs. I plan meals every week because of my work schedule. I usually shop once a week and complete all prep work on sunday.

Recently I find myself challenged with meal planning because my husband was diagnosed as gluten intolerant. Not all gluten free foods are the best low calories choices so I typically make two sets of meals; one for me and one for my husband. Fortunately, it works for me because I LOVE TO COOK. I need to rearrange my kitchen to prevent him from eating foods that he should not consume as well as separating those that are a good fit for both of us.

So it goes like this...I can lie really well when it comes to food and eating. Sadly/Happily not sure which, the lab reports from my Doctor does not lie nearly as well as me. Time to make the commitment to change.
Did you know for instance, that food doesn't always come in a box or in the freezer. I have just made it through the first week of cooking a real meal each and every night. best part the left overs the next day means I don't have to think about what to make for lunch.

Hi, I recently completed the 28-day bootcamp challenge and I learned so much. I also created some good habits. I joined this challenge because I have some bad habits such as lack of portion control, cooking way too much for two people, shopping too frequently, and not planning meals until the day of. I think that this challenge is going to get me on track with portion control, get me back to eating at the table, and help me to plan meals better and plan better meals.

Hi! This is my second go around with Sparkpeople. So far I have loved it now that I know I can vary different things. I don't view this as a diet as I did the first time around....instead focusing on changing my life style to a healthy one. It has been difficult to an extent but I have been feeling better. I am eating better, tracking what I eat, staying away (for the most part) food that is so not good for me, learning to control my portions and being active. I don't know how much weight I have lost so far (don't own a scale) BUT I feel better. Clothes are less tight and I can see my tummy getting flatter. It isn't always easy but I am trying and by logging onto to my page every day I can easily stay on track although I must say weekends are the most difficult!

Hi! I started this a couple months ago. Just never got pass getting the kitchen in order and working out a menu for a week. Will try my best to do the menu and shopping list. Would like to have help in how to plan a menu for a week. The store that I shop at changed everything around and feel lost. I don't have a lot of time for shopping to look for everything I need to cook a home made meal. I really want to do this. Just feeling a little lost right now.

Hello, All- I just made the blueberry muffins from the Chef Meg recipe on this site. It was easy to make and fabulous! My kids and husband loved them! They are made with whole wheat flour and applesauce, and they tasted great! I have tried a lot of healthy muffin recipes, and this is the best one by far!

Hi I'm Alyssa and need help reaching my goals and figured that maybe a challenge will help me stay more active on the site. I live alone and I don't mind cooking for just me, but I do find that some nights I am just too tired and lazy and will have an egg and toast instead or just snack. I have plenty of great meal ideas as I am culinary student but somedays after being in the kitchen all day I really don't want to come home and cook.

Hello, All! I am new to this challenge, and I am really looking forward to it! As a working mother of 3 girls, I know I need to set a good example for them by cooking and eating healthier meals. We often get busy, as I know you all do, too, and I fall back on frozen food or takeout. I am learning, after watching a few videos on this site from Chef Meg, that it doesn't have to take a long time to make a good meal. I look forward to learning from you and supporting you in your goals as well. Here's to us!!

Hi I'm Sarah and I love to cook but I tend to get a little burnt out on it. I also find that I have to go to the grocery store ALL the time otherwise my groceries seem to go bad before I cook them so any tips on that would be wonderful! I think I just need to be better about planning :) Good luck on your goals everyone!

May we all know that we can do anything we put our minds to and may we all come to know the sides of ourselves that are unstoppable!
