Day 32 got over 3 miles done today. Time for dinner!

I'm 5'8" and determined to make a change now. Ten minutes of fitness daily. Too many times I've fallen off the wagon, time to make long lasting positive habits stick. Can I do it?!

Keeping up the streak. Day 30 was a 1 mile walk and day 31 yesterday I got in a 12 minute walk because I had to park so far away from work.

This challenge has been fun. I'm about to head out for a quick 1 mile walk. I'm currently a carb addict and haven't been focusing on food so much and I need to! Poetess we're going to be great at this!

Are you busy? Let's head out for a walk!

Yes, yes, yes, Jenn you can make it. And you WILL make it. You and I are at about the same weight, and doing similar exercise. We could be partners. I am working so hard at eating enough protein, lowering my sodium intake, and increasing my fiber. It's hard to keep it all in balance. I am here to support you, and would appreciate yours as well.

Day 24
Back and shoulder workout with light weights. Slow, long moves helped with a good stretch too.

Day 25
Serious hike up and around Breakneck Ridge. If you live in NY it's a famous hike, really tough at the beginning with gorgeous views of the Hudson.

So I went out for a walk for day 21 trying to beat the rain and lucky me...the center of the red blob part of the weather radar passed right over me on my nature trail on my run/walk with a mile to go back to my house. I was soaked to the bone and had to wring out in the bathtub. I did get to see a not even knee high baby deer bound onto the trail not realizing I was there the rain drowned out all noise.

It was a crazy walk but I did it, 3.48 miles total today.

Day 20, one of the harder ones for me to do, wasn't an easy Monday. I didn't think I was going to do it and then I just grabbed my dumbbells and got in 10 minutes of bicep and tricep work, simple as that. Doing my curls with 12 pounds and triceps with 5 right now. We'll see what the weather lets me do outside today.

Day 18 Got a 3.6 mile walk/run done today and included the Week 2 Day 1 of the 8 week rookie running program. I wanted to fill up my Spark Activity Tracker so after I did my 25 minutes, I kept walking till my tracker was full.

My tracker is set for 6000 steps which for me is 3 miles.

Day 16, almost thought I wasn't going to make it and then it just happened. I wouldn't have managed it a few weeks ago. I wound up snoozing on the couch after dinner, I was just torn down and exhausted. Woke up around 8pm, put on my sneakers and just walked a mile and came home. Done. So simple, 1 more mile than yesterday. Forward everyone!

Thanks Everyone!

I hope you guys are all having a wonderful Saturday and your weather is as good as the weather I'm having here in NY. It's a little humid and we have 3 days of rain in store starting tomorrow.

Day 11 done, 3.7 mile walk, ran every 5th minute. I run a 5K every October, this year will be my 3rd one and I want to beat my time again and get down to 30 minutes flat. Why not start training now?! Spark has a great 8 week and 5 week running program, I plan to string the two together so that after 13 weeks my normal workout should be running a 5K in the evenings. I think it's a great way to ease into running for real. As I lose weight it'll be easier on my body to run too!

Enjoy all!

Here is a link to the double red cell donation. Yes they separate my red blood cells, and in the end there are 2 units instead of 1. They give me back my plasma. Red cells are important during transfusions and my blood type is only 7% of the populations. I'm Rh negative so it's safer for patients too. It's one sitting, takes a bit longer than the regular pint of whole blood since there are 4 cycles of taking, separating, and giving me back my plasma...it's cool you can watch the machine do its thing. Here's a link to the details!

Jen,

I understand giving blood, as I used to do that at work, also. But what is this red cell candidate and what do they do n that instance with you? Are you still just giving blood and then they separate your red cells? What do they do with those red cells? With you doing double red donations, do they take blood from you twice in the course of the day? This sounds a bit complicated to me, as you can tell from my questions.

emoticon Keep the walking up! IT doesn't matter what time of the day you get your walk in, it just matters that you get it in! You're doing so well, and yes, you are cultivating a habit! emoticon

Blessings!

We had a blood drive at work, I donate all the time. Recently I got a letter saying I was a red cell candidate and they needed my type, so now I guess I'll do the double red donations from now on. I guess I'm helping more people that way.

Hope everyone had a great day. Did a quick 2 mile walk after dinner. 7pm seems to be a good time to get out for a walk. This is a good habit starting to form in me and I love how it feels. I hope everyone is getting just as much out of this challenge!

Yes, the fox was better than the skunk in the bush! WOW!!! I wonder what made the skunk squirt it's stink? At least he didn't get you!

Good for you sneaking in a 10 Nicole workout, before bed. Why are you donating red cells? Are they for you, or someone else? I pray that you're okay!

Blessings!

Yeah his choice of dinner was a bit yuck, but it was the cutest wee fox I've seen in a while. They're a bit more rare where I live, but we still get them around. Better than the skunk I smelled in some other bush.

Donated double red cells today, managed to squeak in a quick Coach Nicole arm and shoulder video to get my 10 minutes in. Now I think I'll go to bed. Red cells get me a bit more tired than a normal donation. I super re-hydrated and ate very well today so all I need is an early bed time and...time.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Hey team! Hope everyone had a great day. Snuck in a 2 mile walk today. I didn't get a picture but I got a treat on my evening walk today. Doing a quick 2 miles down Bryant and back and out from the woodsy area of Burke comes this wee fox determined to get this bit of road kill from the lane without getting run over. He wasn't giving up and it was a big chunk of dead something. Finally the cars slow down long enough for him to get a good grip on the road kill and run off into the woods with it, what a great nature show.

Evening walks bring the best wildlife sightings.

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend? Got in workouts all 3 days. I just don't seem to take days off...I just cut way back for a couple of days. Today will be cardio and lower body work.

Jen, you're doing so well. I noticed in your post you got in your FULL WORKOUT, got a shower and had time for dinner with the family!!! That's what we're talking about. There's all that free time and we think we're too busy to do a workout.

Nancy Jean, you too are a great inspiration for us all.

TCANNO & DELLMEL, sounds like you 2 have a little workout challenge going? Keep it up and I'm pulling for BOTH OF YOU!

I'm off to the gym now...til next time

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Jen,

You're managing your time very well, and I love the surprise you gave me, when said that you got the entire walk in and you just kept adding things to it! I LOVED IT!!! Keep up the FANTASTIC work!

Thank you for recognizing the men and women in the Armed Forces, who gave the ultimate price for us, but let's not forget those that did make it home, also. They also fought for our freedoms. I served during a time of peace, but I saw the horrid atrocities, when I was in Central America, that were happening there and with the Jim Jones murders, too. It wasn't pleasant, at all. We had a mission to fulfill and we did it with the utmost respect.

Blessings!

Day 5, rugged 3.43 mile hike at a local nature preserve. My SPAT doesn't like my sports bra and missed a mile of tracking, but got the time right. Glad I use a back up for true mileage. It's an app called sports tracker on my iPhone it was free and has a normal website too to manage your workouts. Love it. I give it 5 stars.
Below is the link to their website.

A 4 mile hike is fantastic. At that pace you'll be achieving your goals and going beyond.

I'm off to the gym shortly for some cardio and upper body work.

Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day week-end...

Jen, Welcome to the team Jen. I hope you get as much out of this as I've gotten in the past 11+ months. Like Nancy Jean said, don't sell yourself short. 3 days is a big deal! Even you said, it's 3 more days of exercise then if you hadn't done it. That's the important thing to remember. You can't take a journey until you take the 1st step! And as Trev said, keep it fun and you'll be coming back for more.

I'm off to the gym shortly. Today will be Cardio only; shooting for 90+ minutes.

Hope all of you have a great Memorial Day Weekend and remember who we're honoring here...those that paid the ultimate price and continue to do so for us, so we can have all the freedoms we so often take for granted.

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Good Morning Spark Team. I hope you all have a great day today. I'm just happy it's Friday before a long weekend. We're expecting good weather here and I see a 20 mile bike ride in my 3 day weekend future. Plus a brisk 10 minute walk or more after work today. I think I'll do my regular 3 mile nature power walk today after work.

Three days is no big deal, I know, but it's 3 more than if I never tried!

Okay so let's try this. I'm on day 2 now and I got in a mile walk the last 2 evenings. It was quite awesome actually. I said to myself, it's 10 minutes, go walk/run a mile and change into your pajamas when you get home. So I did.

Hi, I'm Jenn and I'm going to see how long I can do this. Even on my off days I'm going on a 10 minute walk.
