I'm not just speaking as a "Sparkperson" but as an old maternity nurse and a mother with grown children here... congratulations on your new baby! Now don't underestimate the work (and I do mean physical) you're about to put in here. Get a pedometer. Watch those steps trend up as you pace back and forth across the room with a fussy little one! Weather permitting, walk outside. Weight lifting? At least your biceps will get a work out! Twist at the waist to get the obliques. Or use a snuggly instead of a stroller. Fold clothes while standing up. Other aspects of your health are just as important right now; sleep when the baby sleeps. Eat well - a healthy, well balanced diet is the best gift you can give your entire family. Enjoy every minute! They are grown much too fast. (Trust me on this one)

Once you get cleared from your doctor. Just start out slowly. Remember you just had a new baby and that's going to take alot of work. They have programs on here for you. For Beginners and Expert. They also have food programs too. So that way you can eat and excerise the right way. They have a doctor on here that will help you too. Just take the time to look around when you can. And most of all rest while you can too. That's the important thing to do. While your daughter is sleeping you lay down too. That will make your body stonger for when it's time to do what you need to do. I am sorry I don't mean to sound pushie but I have been there too. So I kind of understand what you are going through. I am here if you ever want to talk or need a buddy.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to all of this and i'm not really sure how to get started. I recently had a baby so i'm not cleared to work out yet ( i should be in about 2 weeks) but i'm not sure what to do when i am cleared. I've tried to lose weight before and it worked for a few months but then i got pregnant and that all went out the window. With the new baby here i can no longer afford my gym membership. While pregnant i ended up with gestational diabetes which was a real eye opener. I'm 33 years old and i weigh 282lbs. I need to lose weight to be healthy. I really want to be around to watch my little girl grow up. I want to be able to play with her and chase her around without getting winded and having to stop and sit down. I could really use some help. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions.
