My name is Beth. I am from a small town, and I moved to a big city for 3 years. In those three years I: started college, made a wonderful new friend(and yes...just one. that is all he (husband) would allow), got married, became depressed, started having panic attacks, gained 50lbs, found out he was cheating on me, and then asked for a divorce...and finally moved back home. Since I have moved back home I: found my high school sweetheart, fell in love all over again, was taken off my depression and anxiety medicine, got engaged, and realized that I want a real wedding (when I married Robert I was wearing a JTHM T-Shirt and green cargo pants, and he was wearing a Dread T-Shirt and black jeans...his mother rushed the wedding. She set everything up for 4 days before Christmas and didn't even tell us until 4 days before the wedding, so of course my family couldn't come). I want to look good in my wedding dress and I need to lose weight to do that. Also my first husband didn't want kids and said that there was no discussing it, but Sam and I both agree that we do want kids and some time soon. I want to be in shape before I get pregnant, Stay healthy while pregnant, and lose whatever extra weight I have after.

Well, that's my story.

The stairs! Take two five minute breaks to trot up and down the stairs. (if you have them in the building) U'll be surprised how 5 minutes of stair climbing can give you a real mini work out. Plus it revs you up with energy to get you through the day. Hope that helps.

Working in an office environment can make it hard to get good exercise. Especially this time of year. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I'm a super stressed-out college student who actually loves to exercise but has been having all kinds of difficulty incorporating it into this semester. I'd never really had this problem until last semester, but I need to resolve it now, because like most people here, I've realized that my life is not going to make time for me to exercise. I have to step up and do that myself.

Good luck to everyone in your endeavors! We can do this! emoticon

Thanks for the uplifting note Kathy. I have recently lost 65 lbs but am now at a plateau. And I think part of my problem is setting my goals too high. I am going to be happy, starting today if I just lose anything. I want to lose another 40 lbs but I will be happy if this week i have any lose at all. Thanks again... Anna

Kathy,
Something that I found on here was a girl who said that, instead of trying to lose say, 50 lbs, she tried to lose 5 lbs. Then she did it again. And again. And again.
That sort of approach wouldn't work for some ppl who feel they "need" a big goal, but I'm throwing it out there because I liked it and you might, too.
Please try to believe that you are beautiful RIGHT NOW, because if you don't believe it now, you may not believe it WHEN you lose the weight. Even when I was thin, I always thought I needed to lose weight. Maybe that's just me, but it sounds like you may get down on yourself or discouraged like I tend to when my goal dates come and go. Whether you lose the weight or not (and you will!), you are beautiful.
We can do it! And I think this challenge can help! I'm going to try to schedule the exercise on the calendar. Maybe that can help you to make it happen, too? I say this because you said you need to get into the habit, and I know I jump at the chance to get on and log my exercise right after I do it, ready to see how many calories I burned. Just a thought.
Take care!

HI My name is Kathy and I'm trying to lose weight but I need help. I've lost and gained and an stuck. I have little to not self control but I don't want to give up.Excersise is really hard for me. The last time I lost I did it without any excersis. Now I'm older and I know it won't happen without proper diet and excersise. I wanted to look good for my daughter's HS graduation 4 years ago...it didnt' happen. Then for my son's 2 years ago...not. They daughter's college graduation this past May...oops. Now I'm shooting for her graduate school graduation in 2 years. Of course I would like to be healther and in better shape before that! I must now get in the habit of logging on to Sparkpeople so I can get the encouragement and do this. So...good luck to everyone (including myself)

Hi, I'm Cecelia. I am starting over in a sense on Spark People. I have been on since March(?), lost 9 lbs, regained it. I am using this challenge as a springboard to building a pattern of working out into my daily habits and 10+ minutes a day for 5 or 6 days a week is a good place to start. :)
Good luck to all! Remember that this, as with many other things that are worthwhile, take time! You may not wake up skinny tomorrow (unless you were already skinny), but you are sowing seeds of health, and seeds take time. And health is more than digits on a scale! I pray for us, that we can stick it out and accomplish our goals (provided we set healthy and realistic goals...)! :)

Hello my name is Melissa. I recently lost almost 70 pounds focusing mostly on diet alone. Therefore, I am a flabby skinny girl with no muscle tone. Not so cute. I joined this challenge to focus on toning and gaining strength and muscle so that I may look and feel amazing. Slow and steady win the race!

Hello all! I'm Lindsay. I've been on SP for a little over a year now. I was able to lose 25 lbs, but then I slacked off and gained about 8 lbs back. I have a hard time getting myself to exercise. Once I do it I feel so great, but getting myself in the habit has proven to be a struggle. So here I am to get my butt kicked into gear!

Hi,
I had been doing well with eating well and being active, and I got busy and then I got lazy. Now I have gained some of the weight I had lost back and lost all of the energy I had gained. So I figured 10 minutes a day was doable, and it will hopefully get me into an exercise routine. I am still struggling with energy and motivation, but have pushed through knowing it will get better.

Hello! My name is Sara. I joined SparkPeople awhile ago but never really got into it. I have started to work out and eat right and figured I needed a place to help me out!

I think 10 minutes of daily exercise will be easy to do. I am excited to start!

My name is Isabell & I've been on SP for about 7 months now. I've tried and given up a lot lately. I've been slipping, emotionally eating, and just being completely unmotivated! I need something to slowly work myself up, and I totally think this will help out.

I've been off the site for several years and am just getting started again. I'm recovering from knee surgery and 10 minutes of exercise 5 days per week seems like something I can do at this point in my recovery. I'll be doing a combination of strengthening exercises and walking.

Hello! I am Bethany. I am atrociously terrible at exercising regularly. I get frustrated with slow results, slack off and end off feeling worse about myself. I am starting anew today. This should be a good starting point for me.

Hi! I am Laura and have been on Sparkpeople for 14 months - I did really well for about 10 months and then slacked off. I need to get back on the bandwagon so figured the 10 minute challenge is the perfect way to start back up.

I took a 15 minute walk during my break this morning!

Hi team! I'm Diane, a returning Sparker... I have been with SP for a few years now, but seem to fade away during times of high stress and busier schedules. I have stuck with my plan though and have lost 53 pounds. I am so close to goal, but exercise is still not a part of my regular daily routine. It is the one missing link I need to overcome for true lifetime success. I hope this challenge helps me to light the fire that will burn strong the rest of my life.

You've got three choices in life. Give up, give in, or give it your all.

53 pounds down and approaching goal! WooHoo!

I have read through Sparkpeople now and then but but not really posted on any of the boards, so here's my intro. I am a 42 year old mom of 2 young boys and knew I needed to lose some weight and be more active in general, then got the news of a total cholesterol of 273, so now something must be done. I'm reading the motivation articles and need to just commit to this lifestyle for good.

Hi everyone,

I am looking to build more consistency with my exercise. I am an avid exerciser, but have some days where I just sit on my butt and do nothing! I want to break the exercise full-out, slob day after routine.(Even if the activity I do the day afterwards is light)

My name is Kelly and I just joined this challenge this week. I work nights and every other week I work 5 nights in a row. I've found that I go through my work week and don't get any exercise in, though I do a better job of watching my nutrition, etc. Joining this challenge will help me get into a routine of exercising on my busy week.

Hey there,

So I'm in a new town starting a new life with practically nothing to do during the days because my husband doesn't really want me to work because I'm pregnant, which has caused be to get a little lazy.... ok maybe a bit more than a little.
But, my doctors ok'd me for light workouts and even though I used to be able to do 10 mile hikes and such, just getting up and getting through the day is a regular challenge. I'm always tired and I miss the extra boost I used to get from working out, so 10 minutes a day. Every day. I don't care if I walk up and down my stairs 20 times in that 10 minutes.... I will be moving, I will be doing some kind of workout, and most likely, it will be 10 minutes of very light cardio....
So here I Go....

I'm here because I need to create a CONSISTENT habit of exercise. Last week I was feeling super motivated and made the mistake of doing much more than I was used to, and got a little burnt out. So now my goal is doing ten minutes, but ten minutes EVERY day. If, on a given day, I feel like doing more, that's fine, but no more excuses for not doing ten minimum. :)

One small action is better than no action.

Hello, I am Brenda. I am a teacher who just completed my Masters Degree. After many long night sessions and stuffing my face with food to stay awake, I have decided to change the way I handle stress. I have gained about 10 pounds and need to lose about 30 pounds. I have been using the Exercise Channel on Comcast On Demand for the past few weeks and I am beginning to notice small changes in my body. I plan to start using the various exercises posted around this site. Now I have motivation to keep going.

Hello my name is Erica and I have been toting around an extra 35 or so pounds since the birth of my last daughter 4 years ago! I tend to stay on this roller coaster where I can lose about 10 pounds and gain it right back! I am at the age now where I am discovering there are certain things that do not function as well as they did when I was in my 20's. If I want to be healthy and continue being a source of support for my family a lot HAS to change for me. I have never been this motivated to make these changes...I'm just plain ole' tired of being tired! *sigh*

hi! I'm Patti, and I have re-joined SparkPeople after a few months away. I hope this challenge will get me back in the groove! I lost 40 pounds with Spark, but gained 15 back, and want to lose it, along with another 35, so my work is cut out for me. I do have a gym membership, and while I haven't been diligent, I have still been going once or twice a week. I need to get back to 3 times a week, and activity every day. I know it works... I just need to do it!!

I'm Leslie and between not having to chase kids around and quitting smoking, I have gained weight. I don't like to exercise and I want to change the way I look at it. I just want to enjoy moving, without having to call it exercise.

Hello my name is Brenda. This year has been a pretty good year for me with my weight loss. Ive lost 30 pounds. In the last few months I've slipped back into old habits and I've not worked out like I use to. ( ie I haven't worked out in almost a month. ) So I think this challenge will help get me back in the groove. (fingers crossed).

Hi everyone!

My name is Stephanie and I'm trying to change my brain. LOL! I'm 39, a full-time IT consultant and mother of two preschool age boys. Life is busy but I'm blessed!
