My name is Dawn and I am 36 years old. I'm a married, stay at home mom of three kids (ages almost 17, 13, and 7) that I home school.

I enjoy doing stuff with my family, being outdoors, gardening, herbalism, and all things related to homesteading. I also dabble in fiber arts during the winter, but I'm not very good at it....yet. :D

I started this journey on August 22nd after trying to for months. I'm not sure what my problem was...once I make a decision, I'm usually very good sticking to it in the beginning. It's about the 3 month mark I get I burnt out, but I digress...

I am 5' 1' (though per my last physical it's technically just a half an inch) and was 208. I've lost 6 pounds during my first weigh in (Mondays). I realize it's always like that in the beginning, so I'm prepared for my 1-2 pound (or none) weekly losses that will be just around the corner.

I weighed 112 in high school, and was as low as 120 after having my first baby, so my goal weight is about 125 pounds. That's 83 pounds I am going to lose, not including what I've already lost.

I've tried SparkPeople off and on for a while, but I never utilized the online community. I usually fall off the wagon around 3 months, so I'm hoping that if I build relationships on here, I will be held more accountable because I don't have much at home. I am a strong introvert, so I still probably won't say much, but I'll try.

At this point, my kids are a healthy weight and are active, but so was I at their age. I was never taught self control as a child, and that's my issue now. I want to model it for my kids now, before it's too late (if it isn't already for the oldest emoticon )

At this point, my hubby could stand to lose a few pounds, but he's not nearly as obese as I. He may just be overweight. I don't know. He enjoys eating and he's more of an enabler when it comes to food. If I'm having a weak moment...he's the one that (usually) says....oh, one time won't hurt. It's so frustrating that he's such a people pleaser, but I love him anyway. And truth be told, he's slightly better in this area than he used to be.

Well, I think that's it. I'm looking forward to getting to know this group!
