Nice thing about exercise (& yes, gyms are intimidating, especially as you get older, but we're stronger when we face our fears, right?) is that as you build muscle, it burns more calories than the same amount of fat.

I guess this is where I'm suppose to describe myself and be witty. These things, I am terrible at. But I digress.

A friend on Facebook mentioned this site and I figured I'd try it out. My whole life (all 25 years of it) has been clouded by weight and food in some form. Through out high school I would sling shot from over eating (topped out at 200lbs my sophomore year) to the other extra of being anorexic/bulimic (lowest was around 110 - 4 months after I topped out). I've seen all spectrum and food truly has controlled my life.

Lately though I've grown tired of this cycle. We've joined our local gym (and how is THAT for intimidation?) and I've slowly began cutting back on portion sizes. Reluctantly. To say I love food would be incorrect. I NEED food. It's truly an addiction for me.

But anywho, I'm grateful to have food this site. Such wonderful resources and people. It has already helped on my trek to a new me.
