Hi, welcome to the team.
Gardening is great exercise! We have a couple of topics to help you in your garden, one is ask the expert and the other is monday garden tips, share your expertise and learn new tips to help you out.
We also have a tipic called Virtual Walk. A destination is set and we each record our daily milage which is added up toward that destination. Join us on this virtual walk, walking is a great exercise to lose weight and control diabetes.

Welcome! Glad you have found SparkPeople. It's not easy to make lifestyle changes but it is rewarding. Walking and swimming are both low impact and great exercise for those with bad backs. THIS WORKS. WENT ON WEEKS CRUISE DID NOT GAIN A POUND.

my sister walks 15,000 steps a day at 63 years
old and has lost 105 pounds. she went from a size 24 to a size 10. all her health issues dropped off as the 105 pounds dropped off. took 16 months.

i gave up grain and sugary products and have lost 44 pounds at age 60. i went from a size 18 to a size 10 shorts and medium tops from a 1 or 2x. took 7 months.

use a salad plate as a dinner plate

use fruit for your sweet tooth cravings, an apple works great. helps with the chewing sensation.

fill your salad plate with half vegetables.

we are both still loosing weight until we reach our goal

What can I say you are not experiancing also. I hurt my back many years ago and gained over 150 pounds. As my weight went up, my self esteem went down.
I then received a shock and discovered this sight. I discovered I have diabetes, the month before my brother died in a diabetic coma.
Time to loose weight, control my diabetes and improve my health
But easier said then done, as it is with all of us
