When ever I feel like eating it usually means I have deprived my body and it is missing something..
We always have fresh fruit, raisins, or nuts,, that I
can eat. I try to have a snack twice a day staying within my 1200 calories a day.
Water doesn't always work for me. I need to watch my fluid intake, not to cause congestive heart failure, or
retain fluid and feet and legs swell up.
I also have a couple of Glucerna (sp)Snack Bars on hand too. These are for diabetics, though I am sure anyone
can eat them.
I have everything pretty much under control after a long time of trying things and learning through experience and then gaining knowledge.

Linda every time you feel like eating or grazing during the day drink a large glass of Ice Water dear . it does help. you may only need more hydration is why you feel the need to graze

My challenge is to stop wanting to graze in the afternoon again. Got to quit doing that whether its on healthy or non healthy foods. Even when I manage to stick to healthy foods, grazing is still a bad habit. But some days it is definitely not healthy foods!!

Yesterday I got in my exercise and stayed within my calories. Was sorely tempted to hit the Chinese buffet but resisted and was happy that I didn't give in. Driving across the state today.

Have been getting my exercise in. I'm leaving tomorrow to go across the state to walk in a half marathon on Saturday! Would never have been able to set goals like that before the progress on this journey!

I didn't get out an do my exercise yesterday but I am going to do it today. I did stay within my calories yesterday. I'm at 163 lbs right now. Only one other time in my adult life have I been to this point, and at 163 the last time, about 12 years ago, I started to slide back to my old habits and I think I'm a little scared about being at this point again. I am going to push through this time though and continue on.

Let's continue to keep track of the things we are working on.

This is helping all of us keep focused more and more accountable.

i'm making progress too. haven't had time to post exercise minutes but plan to do so this week.

Still sore but getting better. Also better able to stand for longer periods of time in one place. A good thing too. makes doing some housework so much easier.

As the temperature rises we all want to make sure we are staying Hydrated as well. Drink the ICE WATER PLEASE!!!!!!!!! THIS IS A GRET HELP AND YOU BURN EXTRA CALORIES EACH DAY AS WELL.

hi All;

Want to congratulate all of you for staying within your calorie counts and staying focused on your goals. Yeah Team!!!!!!
We are doing better.!! that is the most important thing for all of us.

i have been struggling with my exercises, but getting there. Thank Goodness for my basic strength training is off tomorrow. Will have a bit of cardio, but that is all. Making progress and yes i "m going SLOWLY! can't do it any other way right now myself. Next week will be better, and so will each of the next weeks to come.

have had several real busy days and trying to play catch up this weekend..

Good job on the calorie limit!

I went to a meeting this morning, but called in a sub for my afternoon class. Two hours at work was all I could handle. I have an inservice tomorrow. I think I can sit and brainlessly smile through it. I don't have to drive either, thank goodness.

I am a healthy and intelligent person. I can and will get well by taking good care of myself. I am a healthy and int...... etc. I thought maybe a mantra would perk me up.

Yesterday I had a rough day emotionally for some reason. I did get my workout in though. In the evening I ate some hamburger meat that my daughter had made a couple of days ago, and also some potatoes that had been cooked with a roast. Neither of which was what I intended to eat. But I still managed to stay within my calories, and also managed to stop myself from eating more although I was in that emotional eating mood.

Temptations to do emotional eating can be really strong. Congratulations, Dawn, on overcoming! Finding emotional nourishment on SP really helps me, I find. It's much easier to sit with complex emotions when I know there are people who will encourage me and support me.

Polkamama, your positive attitude is such an inspiration! Good for you, and thanks for being you!

DH and I are on vacation, and I'm mostly being able to stay OP. Getting exercise is a little more difficult, but for the most part, the eating is fine. I am able to check in on SP at least once a day by going to a local fast food place that has wifi, and that helps a lot - as long as I don't eat much of their food (LOL).

i too have had a tough couple of days. Now I can add exercise to my Physical Therapy. Wow Am I out of shape , after 9 months bed rest in the last year.

Yes took it real slow yesterday added 4 exercises 2 reps of 6 each. i'm a bit sore, but know that will go away in several more days. YEs AM taking it slow and easy lol.

Now that I have been released to do more exercise but SLOWLY i can start with 2 sets of reps and only 5 of each new exercise i add so that is going to help get me feeling more like my oldself again soon.

So will pull out the Jorge Cruise exercise minute program come Monday and start adding my exercises for strenght once again. Like this program as you work two set of muscles every day, but they are different. By saturday you have worked the whole body, andd have less pain as you give those muscles you work on monday off and work other ones teh next day. Love this system as it works for me really well.

The Dr. and I figured up yesterday that I had been on bed rest for 9 months of the last year. not good for a weight loss program for sure. But we are planning on me getting back into the swing of things once again more so.

I fell asleep on time, woke on time and felt better today than I have for two weeks.

I have also been down to micro portions of sugar the last two day. I guess I got well because I threatened my body with the doctor.

Thanks Polka,
I never think about the vitamins, but they may help. I finally, quit binging today. I am wondering if all the sugar and garbage is causing swelling and increasing the sleep apnea events. It is how I feel. I am calling the techs tomorrow to see who reads my memory card from the cpap. I hope that the card shows apneas. I have only had the card since December, so am not sure what it does.

Started yoga two weeks ago. I am trying to do it two times a week.

I have been fighting lethargy and mild depression and huge food cravings for two weeks now. I think I need to abstain from sugar for a week, to see if I won't feel better and get over the huge cravings.

Despite my checking in and posting will try to get my minutes logged in today and tomorrow.

i have come closer to reaching my goal of 6000 steps each day.

I also have tried to go without my crutches for a bit of the time. doning better and hope to be back with my cane again full time soon.

This week si when i start adding more strength exercises and more cardio. so will be adding those to the list reall soon.

also trying to work in my container garden as much as the weather allows and in the yard. Also getting more vitamindD from being outdoors. Those with a Vitamin D defincency please don't use sun screen as it blocks the d from getting in .

Well this is my progress so far will add more as teh week goes on

I do a few exercises every morning while still on the bed. First I pet the dog and scratch his belly for him.

Then I stretch and compress the spine and joints. After that I shake everything loose. I might also throw in some leg lifts and other physical therapy exercises. When I sit up, I do some shoulder and head rolls. Only then can I get up and actually walk across the room without wobbling.

Bed exercises are particularly wonderful for anyone older or with joint pain. Glad you mentioned them.

We seem to be getting behind on posting to this link! I did another moving forward step today when I signed up for a half marathon May 1st in Shiprock NM. It's one that also welcomes walkers, and I'm a fledgling runner with much more walking than running. But I don't care. I love those kind of challenges. I found another one in Albquerque along the same lines in October. Hopefully by then I may not be able to run the full 13.1 miles but more of it than I will at this first one. I'm finding these events really do motivate me and give me new incentive!

This week is to share knowledge gained.

I have learned that for those that can't get to the floor easily or get up from the floor easy to use my bed. That adds a degree of difficulty and adds to my work out. Clear the bed of everything such as pillows and start your your workout. It is easier to get up and get up from there and get up to move around to do other things.

This makes it easier to do floor exercises and pain free and happy to keep exercises

Good sunday Morning:

Wow what great ideas you all have for renewing self. Let's contiue to focus on those and add encouraging others to stay true to their goals. We all have been doing a great job so far.

We can Do this and you can do this and i can do this as well.

As for me i'm slowly getting things added and will take a few weeks yet to get all the changes in order and up to speed. But won't let it stop me from reaching my goals.

Will have a couple of weeks ahead that are going to be tough but will try to keep focused on my goals and what I want for the end of summer. That is hard to do when you are on the run 4 out of 7 days a week, So I 'm asking you to help keep me accountable and on track during this hectic time.

During this time i also am dealing with another mammogram and ultra sound on my left breast. this has been an on going thing as several of you already know. But the monitoring of the mass is important to make sure it isn't getting any bigger. So this will end the two weeks of hectic schedules for me. Praying things aren't worse than they are or have been. Time will tell.

I am re-evaluating my goals too. I really need to get focused on eating better every day, not just 4 or 5 days. I've been on the road too much and eating out and not making the best choices.

I met one of my goals on Sunday when I completed the 15 mile Bataan Death March Memorial event! That is the longest I've done, and according to the chip statistics my average pace was 15:35 which means almost 4 miles per hour. I kept up a fast pace the whole time and am really happy with myself. Now I need to set a new goal to keep me working toward. I am doing a 10k walk in Albquerque in April for autism, and I need to keep looking for those type of events to keep me motivated to keep training. And of course, there is the breast cancer 3 day event in November!

I have four grandsons sleeping on two mattresses on the floor of my room. My goal for tomorrow is to get the air mattress inflated and move at least half of them downstairs.

We took a nice long walk with the dogs tonight. One of my goals was to increase the distance we walk to get to two miles in one walk by Mother's Day.

I have re-evaluated my goals too. With me I'm going to have to add the changes over the next 6 weeks. So that i don't overwhelm my myself, and get discouraged. by adding them and gaining my strength slower i will be able to reach my goals, with a better frame of mind.

This wasn't an easy discion as I had to really be hard on being realistic of what I can do at this moment. Knowing i'm still dealing with a healing hamstring means I have to slow the pace down a bit. Not what I want, but a neccesity to be sure.

REmember adding slowly doesn't mean you aren't going to get to your goal. it means you are being wiser and safer as i am trying to be right now. Making sure to do what I can and not force to much too soon as then I would have a greater chance of injury once again.

so Here is to striving forward slower, and more realistic and with a bunch of hope that i can have my goals reached but not as quick as i would like. That is okay. Rather be safer and healthier and stronger in the end.

Morning all;

This week we are going to focus on putting our new goals into action. Any new changes should be added slowly at first and then pick up the pace as we are able.

This is a good time now with Spring here to renew ourselves as well. We need to spring intno action and work harder at becoming a better and halthier us.

i know I have meen gone a few days I have read my postings not always had time to post. Will try to do better my self.


This week I'm starting out with only 5 of the new changes of each change i'm making starting on Monday since Sunday is my exercise day i try to take off and lett the body rest before going at it again. So starting tomorrow I will be adding 5 of about 4 new exercises added to my routine. The only thing tha I will try to do with the walking is to add more steps as i can. this is till difficult with my knees, ankle and the muscles in my leg as well.

So will do what I can to keep going forward in my goals to getting fit and better motivated as well.

You can do this, I can do this and WE can do this!!!!

Wellthis is an intersting week for me with trying to make changes. Today and yesterday it was like I have a very low batterry. I have been moving slower than a snail just taking a slow walk. Hate that feeling but will deal with it.

So for the last two days I have been trying to take things a bit slower overall. Hate that as I feel like I'm sliding backwards instead of foreward. . I 'm realizing I may have to add these things much more slowly than I would like for a bit. Hate feeling like I belong sitting in the rocking chair and being watied on hand and foot.

So will have to look at putting things into practice over the next several weeks instead of all at once. I realize that I am coming off of bed rest and need to take time to get my body reaclamated to doing all the things that I was doing before I was put on the bed rest. That is hard to realize that i'm weaker than I would like to admit to myself

Dawn and all the others who have shared their goals this week I want to take a moment to say that I'm glad to see that you all have stepped up to the challenge to renew oneself and make a difference in your program. That isn't one we always want to hear, as as we get older change isn't an easy thing for many of us.. But by being willing to declare your goal to the team we can help keep you focused and on reaching the goals you have set for yourself.

Made an appt. to get hair cut, before installation of officers at TOPS. Bought lots of fish and veggies and a large pack of frozen blueberries, to stay on track this week. Bought Buddy a Gentle Leader since I either lost or he hid his Halti. I like the Gentle Leader much better. Two more days till spring break. Temps to hit 68 on Saturday, so I should be able to start painting the house again.

GReat job all!!!

I worked a bit but had to slow down a bit yesterday. Over did it on Monday. But that is life. So will do the best I can today since I have several things that has to be done today.

Tomorrow I have a long day . Have to take a friend to the Dr's and a test. I also have to get my allergy shot when in town. Plus do a few errands as well.

But today will go slow so not over tired for tomorrow.

We all have great ideas of how to renew our self. That is the best thing to see it writtn out and others helping us to stay focused.

WE CAN DO THIS . YOU CAN DO THIS AND I CAN DO THIS AS WELL. It doesn't matter if we are alone or together we will get this done and hopefully have a bit of fun too.

Last night, after my gym class, I was really tempted to go to the Chinese buffet. I was thinking I could eat from the salad bar and just get a few other things. However this is usually my downfall. And the eating out I've been doing lately has had too much sodium I think, and is part of the reason my weight hasn't changed much the past few weeks. I did manage to go home, eat a healthy dinner that fit into my calories for the day, and feel better about myself than if I'd given in to temptation. Working on renewing myself and really getting back into sticking to plan.

You can do it Linda :) Just by knowing where you
slipped up is a help. I have been there, done that too. Bag of fritos, candy, soda, quick snacks for
the road....now when we are going anywhere that is a long drive, i pack a small cooler bag, with fruit,
frozen grapes, snack bars, ice tea, or water.

I got tired of having an upset tummy. lol

Making good choices is what its about.

Renewing my self on eating fruits.

The 30 reps of arm exercises are coming along, but the poor dogs and my lenten goal are suffering due to late night meetings and working late.

I know that the challenge about renewal and what we can do to renew ourselves.

I am trying to renew... what is giving me the motivation? PLATEAU

I am eating less, exercising more, adding more strength exercises, rotating my routines to keep it mixed up. Drinking more water. Trying to get outside more!

Today was the first day of my change. Today i did the first two hours of my gardening YEAH! All i got finished was 3 large roses trimed for spring, and fed; cleaned up two large containers of my strawberries, and a couple of smaller pots. Then I picked up all the stuff we cleaned off and put it in the trailer we have for our riding mower. Then finished off the deck by sweeping any of the remains still on it. Also feed the strawberries their first feeding of the year.

All the while I was wearing a tank top with shorts no shoes as it was 75 today and Lots of Sunshine! So a very beautiful day to be out on the deck.

Also have been thinking about another change I need to make. That is add more cardio than I 'm doing. so in the process of looking for some that are very low impact cardio as I can't do any jumping or running, because of my disabilities. So any suggestions let me know and will check tham out.

All have good things that you are working on springing into action for spring. Let's see if we can't spring this up so we all win and have that sleeker look for summer.

One of my problems is that I've been on the road a lot lately and have not been eating correctly. Either too much or not enough. I have to work on being better with my choices when traveling.

My gardening team challenged us to do ten minutes of something outdoors. My first thought was I walk the dogs for 15 to 30 minutes everday away from the house and I walk them five to ten minutes three to five times a day around the house. That sounds kind of weak when I type it. So I will increase the dog walking another ten minutes and I will add 30 reps of upper body exercises each time I open a spark mail.
