How true Linda,
taking it day by day.
I notice if I don't get enough sleep, I feel somewhat
depressed. I look at the laundry that needs to be
folded, and feel heck don't care if it gets done
its clean.
My husband does all the housework, makes 90% of
the meals, does the grocery shopping and so much.
I am blessed.

Some days I feel lathargic, or is it mopey.
I believe alot comes from the medicenes we take.
I would love it if I could come off of some of
mine.
That will never happen. I am on borrowed time,
Meaning, that all I do, all the meds I take are
keeping me alive. I thank God I have a healthy
heart, liver, and kidneys. I cannot be operated on
because of the anesthesia, and cannot take sleeping
pills or I may not wake up.

Accepting all this, and dealing with it day to day
I do my best to go on, enjoying every day, and minute I have. What is the body? It houses our spirit.
For inside is us is something stronger then life.
The Love of God :)

I love people, and having many friends.....
My friends on sparkpeople, and now this team will
keep me going, pushkng on, with the faith and hope I have. All are my friends here.
I look at it now as a walk in the woods, the song
of birds, the wind blowing over the lake.
My lovely daughter JoAnne, my husband.
I don't want to miss a day of all this.

Stay strong Linda, together we can do this.
As a team we can do this.
We are all here to help one another.
I will life you up in prayer.
know you are not alone.

love and hugs, Paula:)

I still have times when I don't want to do anything and don't have energy and I agree it does take a lot to get out of it. When I wasn't on medication it was different though. I felt like everything was gray and I was behind a glass looking at the world but unable to interract or be with it, including friends and family. It was so much worse. But even with medication it does take effort to not fall into the less intense state of no interest in anything. I don't have any clear answers. It's a day by day thing I have to deal with. Right now, I'm eager to exercise and work on myself but have a very hard time with work and other things that aren't related to exercise and fitness. If I didn't have these two interests I probably would be deeper though. But that is so totally different than anything I've ever been through before when fitness and health were the first things to throw out!

Great postings..

I am not sure if depression can be identified.
It just happens. Recognizing it is another thing.

I see mine when I don't want to do anything.
Coming out of it takes alot of energy.
Especially the times I am very sick.

I am on medication for this, wonder sometimes if
it really is working.

Yes, Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain (among other things). Yes, there are many meds and even exercise to help in the controlling of the depression. I do love my Lexapro! However, as I continue on my journey and see what uncontrolled depression can do ~ I know that I will do all in my power to keep it under control..Exercise helps..meds helps but the biggest thing is when you can pinpoint and realize what are triggers and the root of the depression. To be able to identify with where this feeling is coming from can help either see a counselor, get out of a situation, adjust meds (with a doctors approval) or even be more aware of when that downward spiral beings at the start of a depression cycle. Working with the soldiers I see the reality of extreme depression...it is tragic. Don't disregard the feelings. Don't ignore a friend or family that has symptoms. Become informed. Become stronger in what you know. ( www.depression.com )

For me I think it is hereditary mental illness. Bipolar also runs in my family and my son has that. This is definite chemical things in the brain. But most of the time I can control it with meds and by doing things to be positive, etc. But I do find it especially creeps in if I don't take care of myself and start feeling guilty which in turn leads to feeling bad about myself.

My depression is from chronic pain that is not well controlled by meds and is from arthritis, fibromyalgia and herniated discs from a car accident. It's complicated by the stress of being a caregiver to an 88 yr old parent who insists on living alone who should be in an assisted care facility who has fallen several times in the last year.

I don't know that I understand what "causes" depression, however, I know that for myself... Exercise helps me to feel better. I know that it has something to do with chemicals in the brain "seratonin" or something like that and that working out releases more of it in the brain. I always feel better after a workout.

Let's see if we can take a negative and turn it into
a positive. Everyone at one time in their lives
has experienced this, and looked for help to overcome and rise above it.

They have pills to take, or a specialist you can
speak to, and I am sure many other ways.

What causes depression? For me, it's my inability
to be able to do what I use to do.
I have my good days, and not so good days.
I have learned to accept what I cannot change.
It becomes a push pull situation.
I find myself venting alot, and it helps.
Sharing these things is good medicene.
