I love yoga and pilates. My rheumatologist keep suggesting I add weight training to help my bones. I'm planning to give it another chance and try a strength training routine next week. I'm just don't want to have a flare. Right now I'm doing so good.

I have noticed too that when I try to start some type of strength training, I get a flare. I have just kind of give up on that. I do try yoga which can give you some strength and flexibility.

It seems like walking is the easiest workout for me. This past week I did 30 minutes in the treadmill. So far my RA seems to be ok with that or walking the dogs. Does anyone have trouble with weights? I would like to start a routine with hand weights, but I'm afraid to do it. In the past when I tried to start strength routine I get a flare. I'm not sure if it is just coincidence.

Hi and welcome. I too have RA and it is really hard some days to exercise and with all the medications that I am on, it is not helping my weight either. We are really into some hot and humid weather and this is bad for my RA, so I am just surviving through the summer right now.

What do you do for exercise/ movement?

Iím Juli from Wisconsin. I joined SP long time ago. I guess it wasnít until last week that I was really ready to work on losing my weight. I lost control of my weight a few years back when I was diagnosed with RA/Lupus. I have about 60+ lbs to lose. Prednisone really sucks!! Iím focusing on winning small battles at the time to make it more manageable. Looking for all the support I can get. I started keeping track of my daily food intake and learning more about nutrition.
