Hello, I am Michelle 36, from Oklahoma. Married for 17 years and have 5 children :) . I just recently graduated college (freshman 15 turned into 50 really quick). I just got a job and it requires me to be on my feet and walking a lot so I figure I will wear my fitbit and see how many steps I take in a day...so far I'm getting around 9700 hoping to get 10k. Anyway good luck everyone :) and hope you all have a great day!

I am Debbie. 56 single mom from Pennsylvania. I lost a bunch of weight with SP. then lost my job over a year ago. I went to Iowa for 5 weeks to set up machinery. Then came back had a job interview the day I returned and was only out of work 2 weeks. I hated the fitbit until I used it for a challenge and then I was hooked. I exercised in Iowa but stopped tracking food. The new job is grueling and I was on mandatory OT after working there a month. Anywhere from 60 to 68 hours a week. I am on my feet the whole shift and have to wear steel toe shoes. so I pretty much had nothing left for exercise. OT ended in January. the high activity level kept me in shape and I didn't gain all the weight back. So although i am starting over I am not starting over. OT could be coming soon. I work second shift and they usually don't need me. I hate my job, but I have great health insurance and they keep giving me more money. I still love my fitbit. I started with a flex then got a charge 2 and now have my eye on the versa. I need the big screen. lol If I can keep up with this maybe I will be able to handle the OT when it comes again. I need to loosed the fat. That would make it easier not carrying around and extra 100 lbs. I have diabetes and high BP both managed with medication. I had a completely clean bill of health in May. I would like to kick diabetes ass or at least get off many of these meds.

Hi!
I am Michele, and I have been away from Sparkpeople for over 10 years. I decided the community would be beneficial for accountability and motivation now that I am restarting. I am a mom of 4, have about 80 lbs to lose for what feels like the millionth time. I just got a new Fitbit Versa to keep better track of everything and focus on getting control of my nutrition. I look forward to meeting more of the team and getting some good motivation!

I've been on and off with SparkPeople for years, but now find that I've hit the 200 lb mark and it is definitely effecting my energy and my mood. I work at a computer from home, so lots of sitting and available food. But there is a peddler under my desk that I tray to use 45 minutes a day. I also have generalized pain that somedays makes it difficult to get in all the walking I want. The challenge I've set for myself is to work toward the 10,000 steps per day, less stress/boredoms eating and a 50 lb loss by the end of the year. I look forward to journeying with all of you for weight loss, better general health and less pain.

Hello! I am on a journey to lose 158lbs. I am recovering from a knee injury (no surgery). So getting steps in is a struggle for me. I have a sedentary job. I currently set my step goal to 3k per day ( I know doesn't sound like much but a lot considering just gave up crutches) I injured my knee in January so I have to start slow and build up my steps. My plan is to increase daily goal by 500 each week. I have a Versa and love using it. I look forward to reading your posts.

Tomorrow is a new beginning...

Christy

My goal is 1 million steps in 100 days, averaging 10K steps/day. Using the Inspire HR model. Have discovered that the wrist-worn models track arm movements and record them as steps, so I try to make sure I walk more than 10K steps at a time. I have 3 dogs and walk them separately 25-30 minutes each, almost always reach 10K steps walking them and can almost always get it done before work. Great way to start the day!

Hi all. I'm Shelly. I'm 33 and have lost 60 pounds in the last year. I've got about 35 more I'd like to lose. I've been walking, I did the c25k, I ran a 5k about 2 weeks ago, and now I'm back to walking. It's time to add some strength training, so that's what brought me back to SP.

Hi, I'm Jeanie. Starting over again AGAIN!

Relocated from South Louisiana to Northeast Arkansas! Culture change, for sure! We really miss the good Louisiana food!

Tried to sync my Fitbit to SP in the past with very little success. But this time, it is working well!

Looking forward to being a part of this group!

I am not one to share too much about myself. I have a lot of health issues but losing weight and eating properly is very important for healing. I have been a member for quite a while but not very active but need to change. So off to the races.

Hello. I don't like talking about myself much. I joined Spark people last month and this will be my first post. Working my way through all the forums and blogs and positive messages has taken me a while to even notice I had a message from a Fitbit user group.
I use a Flex 2 which I strap to my ankle so it's out of sight and out of mind. Can't tell you how many times I stepped into the shower or bath with it on.
I have a few medical problems which prevent me from getting too active. Took a hike the other day even though my feet were killing me. So I do know how to work through some pain. Only fell once, so I survived. Felt bad because the group decided to call it day and I ruined their trek. The pace they set was a lot faster than I usually walk so that was good. Going to join them again next week. Wish me luck.

Hello! My name is Pat and Ilive in Florida - retired but working part time - had two shoulder surgeries within the past 6 months - life threatening infection led to the second followed by intensive long term IV therapy - but wonder of wonders I lost quite a bit of weight (not recommending this as a means) and it spurred me on! I have had Fitbits on and off for years - but I'm back to it and loving it! Especially like the reminder to get in 250 steps/hour - great motivation.

Howdy all! I am excited to re-start my healthy adventure AGAIN! I got this fit-bit 4 days ago. I had one before and lost about 30 lbs, now I plan to keep it and upgrade as I loose more and more weight My place of employment started this 6 week start in the health kick, and I sure thought this was a great time to start. It gives me a challenge. I was glad to find this group, so when my 6 weeks are up with them I still have a challenge to keep me going. Thanks for welcoming me to the group guys!

Good Afternoon!

I have had my FitBit for a few years now, but have just figured out how to sync it with Spark People yesterday LOL! I have absolutely loved having my FitBit, it has by far been the best tool, other than Spark People, to hold me accountable. I love accomplishing goals and I always get excited when I meet or exceed goals set before me.

I am a 38 year mom of 3 teenagers and I realized that I struggle with keeping up with them. It was time to make a change and walk down a healthy lifestyle road. So far so good!

Cheers!

I am new to Fitbit. I have just gotten a hand-me-down Blaze from my daughter. I started using it about two weeks ago. I like that it gives me reminders to get up and move every hour. I was a sparkpeople member about 4 yrs ago and lost 30 lbs. Then life happened and I gained it all back. So Iím starting up again.

Hi everyone,

Just signing in today with my new FitBit Versa. So excited. Once I synced it with sparkpeople I got an email inviting me to this team. Now that is holding me accountable. Did my walking this week and will continue on with my new watch! Hope to get to know everyone and we can share stories, adventures, and motivation.

Hi, I'm back on SparkPeople after a few years absence. I am now a very happy grandma of a one year old and I take care of him while his parents are at work. I really need to focus on getting healthier so I can keep up with him. Starting with small goals - logging all my food, starting back to the gym, and getting my walks. I'm glad to see so many people on this board and look forward to the inspiration.

Hello! I have been trying to develop healthy exercise and eating habits for years. I am going to turn 50 soon and I am using this as my excuse to try again.

I have had my Fitbit for about a year and while I wear it constantly I seem to require more inspiration to actually be active. I have a desk job and need to lose about 20 lbs to get back to a healthy weight.

I want to join a group of like-minded people for inspiration and accountability.

Hi all! I am Becky.
I have been on SP for a long time, but took a break for the last few months as our life turned upside down and readjusted to a new normal.
We moved from SoCal to Colorado Springs and I am loving all the out door opportunities here!
I have had a fitbit for about four and a half years.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!!

Hello everyone. My name is Susan. I have a Flex that I recently started using again. I have had it for several years but it only worked for about two days when I first brought it home so it sat in a box. None of the troubleshooting directions helped and I tried to contact the company because I heard there was an occasional "lemon". I never heard from them but I spent too much money to throw it away. Long story short, I took it back out of the box, recharged the battery and hoped for the best. It has only been one day, but things are looking encouraging. It didn't capture my steps on the treadmill but all the other steps have captured. I do enjoy checking my progress through the day and it does motivate me to get in more steps so, fingers crossed, it will keep working.
I first joined SparkPeople in 2007, lost 34 pounds, strayed and gained 50 pounds. I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a few years ago and that woke me up so I changed my diet, started exercising, lost about 30 pounds and then hit a plateau that lasted until I started with SparkPeople again a month ago.

Good Morning. My name is Pam. I've had a Fitbit for about 2 years. Wore it all the time, but more for telling time, than exercise. I've recently joined SparkPeople mainly to log all my foods and keep within the range specified.

I was on MyFitnessPal, but because of it being a VERY strick regime, I was on and off for about 1 1/2 years. I like SparkPeople because it gives you a fluctuation of calories. This keeps me more motivated than MFP ever did.

Hope all of you have a wonderful day.

Hello! My name is Nick.

Last year I placed fourth in my company's weight-loss competition. However, over the course of the year (really, the final four months), I had gained most of the weight back. I was shocked and dismayed that I had gained so much in so short a length a period of time. I'm tired of yo-yo dieting.

This year, my company had the weight-loss competition again. And this year, I strove to do it slightly differently; I began with a week-long green cleanse (using homemade recipes with my Vitamix) and a small, sensible dinner. During that week, I listened to a podcast of a person who had lost a lot of weight using keto. Inspired, I switched diet plans mid-stream, and convinced my wife to give it a try with me.

To my surprise, I clenched the lead of this program, and when all is said and done, after the final weigh-in, I had emerged as the winner--38 pounds in 9 weeks. (Insane, right?).But I see myself in the mirror, and with all my weight loss, I still have a little more to go; my tire has now become a muffin-top. I promised my wife I didn't have to run her ragged as I had done for the prior 9 weeks. I also know that, deep down, that I want to start moving my weight loss towards a more rational rate, incorporating more fruits/veggies into the diet, and away from most fats. What was good for weight loss worked in the short term; but I believe this diet, for myself anyway, is not sustainable.

Being Lent, I plan to continue the intermittent fasting (three days a week, 22:2). During the fasting, I allow myself to have green tea and espresso (no cream/sugar/stevia for either). But I have already begun the gradual return to normalcy, having one day a week as a "higher-than-normal" carb day, straining to not go overboard. Yes, this will kick me off ketosis for a few days, but it will also allow my workouts on those days to not lose muscle.

As a winner of this competition, I also got my first wearable Fitbit. Digging into the scene, I see that I can link the Fitbit with certain apps. It is from THAT app that I discovered myfitnesspal, so I signed up.

Nonetheless, I'm learning how to integrate a new series of routines. One thing I particularly love is reading while doing mindless cardio workouts. I use a bluetooth clicker to turn pages while working the treadmill, elliptical, stationary bicycle, or rowing machine. I'm in my own world.

Looking forward to befriending you all and getting assistance in my goals.

TL;dr: I just won a company-wide weight-loss competition using keto and intermittent fasting. However, I am learning how to adjust back to clean eating habits and losing just a few more pounds.

I'm Jennifer, I am currently switching from weight watchers to Sparkpeople. I need to try something new. I'm having trouble staying focused and not doing easy high calorie meals. I am a mother of 4. It's chaotic and busy in my house all of the time. My oldest just turned 18 years old but I have a 5 year old, 3 year old and 1 year old also. My little ones keep me busy and sometimes I make easy meals just to have a minute of time for myself. I need to get focused and stop doing that. I'm 36 years old and have a ton of weight to lose. Hoping this works.

I have been a SP member for about 7 years off and on. I lost 84 pounds before about 11 years ago. I swore I would never put it back on. Well guess what I did, can't believe I fell that far. I have been trying off and on of trying to get back on track but it is never easy. I am bound and determined to succeed this year. I am tired of looking at my closet and not feeling confident in wearing them. Plus summer is coming so I would like to actually wear all my summer clothes for the first time in 3 years. My current wait is 239 I will get down to 165 again.

Hi!
Longtime SP, newbie to Fitbit. Believe I have the two synced successfully!
In training for another 1/2 marathon (Flying Pig 2019) and perhaps the Disney run 2020 as my first and last marathon. I hate training and running, but I love the run day! Weird, right? : )))

I want to be healthier than my family before me and a good example to the family that follows me.

Hello! I've been on SP since 2009 after child #1's birth, just bought my first fitbit - the Charge 3!

I do triathlons and long-distance cycling, and have lost a grand total of 45lb from my highest weight after child #2's birth in 2011. A huge chunk of that was simply from moving to Seattle and living without a car for 2.5 years as a SAHM - walking and biking everywhere while hauling two kids, weight literally just fell off!

I now live in the Chicago area and work in an office. I bought the Charge 3 in order to participate in a month-long step challenge, and it's been great! I really like the reminders to get up and move, and that I don't have to have my phone physically on me all the time to count steps.

Take life one day at a time - enjoy today before you worry about tomorrow.

Hi everyone! My name is Cheryl and I'm in Tucson, AZ. My goal is always to get at least 5000 steps everyday, but I am amazed how often I miss my mark! I'm hoping this team adds extra incentive for me to get moving.

Hello Everyone!

I am new to this site and am still learning the ropes. I am looking forward to starting this journey and encouraging others as well as being encouraged.

I am a single mom of 2, residing in NC. I have one special needs child and 1 gifted child. I am challenged daily with life itself and this year I am adding in to challenge myself daily with my own health; as it has always been put on the back burner! :-(

Looking forward to joining you all in this path we have chosen to be a part of.

Hello! I'm Rachel. I've been a Fitbit user and an SP user for many years... doesn't mean I've put either to the best of use. I'd like to change that and some of my other habits so here I am. Looking for a little social interaction to help motivate me and hoping to provide that for others as well. Here's to loving myself a little more!!! Looking forward to participating in the group.

Hi I'm Lorraine. I've been on Sparkpeople for many years and got my Versa last fall. I absolutely love how helpful the feedback from it has been! I was today old when I discovered it syncs with Sparkpeople!!! This is going to be so much more help keeping up on my activity tracking. I'm looking forward to becoming more active on the team as I progress with the new effort of weight loss!

They say it is better to be poor and happy than rich and miserable, but how about a compromise like moderately rich and just moody?

Hi everyone. I'm new to SP and new to the Fitbit User forum. I have a FB Blaze, and I love it. I'm not as accomplished as many of you. I do well to get in 3,000 steps. Hopefully, I will catch on.

I am in my 60's. I am married to a very supportive husband who just made me grits for breakfast! I want to enjoy my older years as a healthy person. I thank God that He's given me a healthy body in spite of my horrible habits... that I hope to change with your help.

I knit, volunteer at my church, live in the country, and enjoy my friends and family--children and grandchildren. We live in Georgia. It's not uncommon for our security light to turn on and see several deer in the backyard munching on our grass.

I hope to support you, and I welcome your support. Have a GREAT day. k

Hello! I'm Toni. I've had my fitbit for over a year now. It was a Christmas gift from my husband. But, I had a Windows phone and the phone wasn't fitbit/sparkpeople compatible. A month ago I was able to get a different phone and now I can use the apps needed.
