Hello!
Had a FitBit a 3 years ago - didn't really get the most out of it. Husband wanted one for his birthday, so I bought myself one (upgraded model from what I had) and I'm loving it! They really have advanced. I'm in a different mindset now, working out more and enjoying it!
Good to be here!

Yesterday I upgraded to the Charge 2 after wearing a Charge HR every day for a year and a half. I've been on Spark since 2008!

I was telling some friends about my Charge 2 yesterday, but they are not into tech nor have experience with fitness trackers, so they were giving me that squinty eye look of doubt and fear one gets in these situations.

I tried likening wearing a fitbit to having a dashboard for my body. It shows me how many miles I've gone, how much fuel is left, my speed, etc. (Well, not exactly those things, but you get the metaphor!)

Sigh, people just don't understand.

Anyway, I've been dedicated to fitness since I pulled it all together back in 2008. To me, this is all normal. And now wearing a fitness tracker is part of that normal.

Nice to meet you all! Frankly, when I found this group and looked at the page, I hadn't intended to actually join the group. But, I guess I did without realizing because this morning there's spark mail suggesting I introduce myself.

So, hi! My name here is GBoomer. Have a nice day!

Hello!
I am not new to SparkPeople or Fitbit. About 3 years ago I got my first Fibit. I upgraded to the Fitbit Blaze and love it. I also wanted the Fitbit Aria but my husband was totally against it, he thought I would just be more obsessed with diet, exercise, and the number on the scale. I do not know how it all happened but my husband recently bought a Fitbit for himself and we got the Aria too. Somehow, I lost a lot of data with my Fitbit switch on SparkPeople so I cannot rely on my SparkPeople stats but I am logging on to SparkPeople more.

My lifestyle hit a major change 5 years ago. Before then I had the free time to work out everyday (hiking, running, yoga, women's boot camp etc) and even twice a day several times a week. With my current job schedule, commute, and family obligations I have significantly less time available to workout. But that has not stopped me. As of today even with my crazy schedule I have hiked/walked 355 more miles than the same timeframe last year. Right now my goal is to lose 15 lbs.

Hello!
I'm not new to SparkPeople, but just got the Fitbit Alta. I need to lose 50 lbs and keep it off. I need to set a realistic daily step goal and do a much better job at not only tracking my food but making better food choices. Thanks for letting me join in.

Hello,

I am Azure. I just got a Fitbit Charge 2 and the Aria scale today. I cannot wait to use it to challenge myself everyday!

I have about 85 lbs to lose and am using Sparkpeople and Fitbit to track my day to day exercise and foods! ...not to mention tracking my success! :)

Looking for strength and encouragement!

Hey I'm Amanda, I got my fit bit a week ish ago and I love it. The challenges are awesome and super motivating. So a little about me, I had weightloss surgery almost 3 years ago. My highest weight was 310 and my lowest was 170. Currently I'm sitting around 200 and when I saw that I made a change, I cannot let this happen so I've been working out 5 to 6 days a week for the last 3 ish weeks so far and am doing fairly well. It was a little weird the first week I made it down to 197 but currently am hovering around 199 but hey my body is having to get used to it, I know it'll follow suit. I'm currently a full time student for graphic design and work as a security guard at night so I don't have much down time between the 2.

Oh if you want to add me on fitbit I'd be more than happy to do some challenges

Hi, I am Sue and I have been on SparkPeople just over 9 years. I have had my Fitbit for 2 years and have a goal right now of 7000 daily steps. I don't reach it a lot, but if I am in one of the challenges with my brother and nieces I can usually get there. I am really good at starting, but not so good at finishing!

Hi I'm Miki. I'm not new to SP but new to this team. I have been using my Fitbit since February and love the reminder to get up and move since I usually spend the day sitting at my computer.

I have regularly used a fitbit in the past, but health issues created a long sabbatical. I have now dusted it off and am ready to go again. Perhaps not quite as avidly, but every bit helps. I somehow found myself a member of this team when I was attempting to set up. I think it will be a good motivator. I am having some difficulties syncing to Spark this time. All I needed was to sit by the computer in the past so I am off to make some adjustments.
Looking forward to meeting the team.

Teresa

Hello, My name is Nola. I am the Motivational Leader for the Determined Daisies team in the 5% challenge. I just received my FitBit mini2 today and I'm setting it up! I have been a member of SP since July 21, 2014 and have lost 37 pounds. However, during maintenance, I got overwhelmed and started gaining. Now I've gained at least 15 back, so I'm trying to get it back off.

Hi FitBit users!

I've been using my FitBit One for about 5 years or so. I love it that FitBit connects to Weight Watchers so I can rack up those Activity Points. Only recently joined SparkPeople, so I linked up my FitBit with my SparkPeople account. Now I can see the calories I've burned. Great feedback!

I'm a walker, not a runner, and I try to walk 10,000 steps per day.

Nice to meet you all.

Hello i joined spark people a couple of weeks ago, and today its my first day using the Fitbit. I have to lose approximately 30 to 35 lbs. Hopefully i will be able to do it and keep me motivated.
Happy to be part of the group, may be i need some support, because i lack motivativation and ussually leave the program of exercise because i dont see results. May be you can keep me motivated. Thank you all. Lets keep moving. emoticon emoticon

Hello!! I'm new to SparkPeople, but have had a fitbit for a long time. I guess it would help to actually utilize it rather than just "see what happens". ugh!!

Anyway, I'm ready to get busy and bust a gut. :)

Hi Fitbit Team!
I have been on SparkPeople for a few years, on and off, weight up, weight down... My Fitbit HR was a Christmas gift (2015). It was one of the BEST gifts ever!!! It's like having your very own personal trainer with you everyday. It has been such a great help to my weight loss thus far. Thank you for allowing me into your Group!

Michelle, here. A long time Sparker. I finally broke down and got a Fitbit yesterday. I was very happy with my Polar sports watch for something like 8 years. In fact, it was my reward for getting to goal weight when I first made it there after having been on SP for about eight months back in 2008! But it was time to replace it. The band was kind of discolored, it was on it's 5th or 6th battery and the accuracy couldn't match that of all the new devices on the market.

Soooo.... I got the Blaze because it's the closest thing to a real watch. Now, I'm working on getting things set up. I just linked the Fitbit to Spark (I think!) and am looking forward to playing with my new weight loss tool. Might just be the motivational boost I work toward goal again.

Welcome any tips and advice!

Michelle

I have been on and off my weight loss journey over the past couple of years. Decided now is the time to get serious- open to suggestions/support/ and willing to support others as well.

Member of Sparks for awhile this is my second year with a fitbit...now rocking the Blaze. Love it and the motivation. Just started the 5K in 30 day challenge to get me back into fall and winter mode of training.

Hello, I'm Tas. I just got my Fitbit last week and have been making use of it (a lot!).

I've got about 45 lbs to lose and hope to be at my goal by this time next year.

Wonderful to meet you all.

Come on 1750!

Hi All, I've been on Sparkpeople.com since February 2010. Not sure when I actually joined this particular team, but have not been very active on it. I have recently become much more active on Sparkpeople and on Fitbit.com - so will work to be more active here as well. I'm a 49 year old Mom to 3 kids - B-22; G-Almost 19; B-17 1/2. I've just moved my daughter into her Dorm at College for her freshman year last Friday and am adjusting to not having her home. It frees up a bit more time for me to walk - not to mention when I visit her as she is about a mile and a half from the main campus at the top of a very steep hill and living on the top (7th) floor. My job is very sedentary, so I aim for a minimum of 5000 steps/day - but try hard to get closer to 10,000. Have lost a total of 60 lbs since I first joined SP - still looking to lose another 50 or so. My husband of 24 years is also working hard to lose some weight, so at least we are on the boat together! We like to walk, hike, play golf and ski.
