Hi! I'm new to this team but have been with SP for awhile, in fact this is my return trip to SP. I have the Flex and love it, just need some incentive to use it (walk) more. My hope is to find a challenge to get and keep me moving!

Hello! I am a returning sparker in Ohio. The first time around I lost over 50 lbs but I was obsessed and had some medical issues because I went so fast. My employer purchased fitbit charges for those who wanted them a couple of weeks ago. I tried it out and as soon as that little black thing embraced my wrist, I lost 2 lbs! It is a constant reminder of my goals and this time I am going low and slow! I have made extra steps every day and even mowed a little yesterday. My 15 year old was very happy that I was helping with his chore! I am looking forward to this new journey and it is so exciting to read everything that everyone in this group is doing!

Love yourself through your whole journey. Don't live on a promise of love at the end.

Hi, my name is Cheryl and I am an Oregonian. I have had a Fitbit for a couple of years but have been a SP member for several years. I am still here and still trying to improve my health, weight, body, mind and spirit I do like that Fitbit mobile app provides a vehicle to conduct challenges with other Fitbit friends. That helps with the motivation and accountability.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

Hi I'm Maria, but you can call me MJ. I've had a fitbit for a while now and it has helped me lose weight in the past. Unfortunately I stopped being consistent with it and stopped using it for a while. Gained all that I had lost and then some. I'm back to using it consistently. Focusing on walking 10,000 steps or more a day. I don't beat myself up if I don't reach that goal. I joined spark people because I thought it would help me succeed in my weight loss journey.

One of the best features I like on the fitbit is the challenges you can do with other fitbit users who are your friends.

Hello!! I'm Angela. I received my fitbit charge for mother's day, and so far loving it!! One thing I find a little annoying, is that it counts my driving time. Does that happen to anyone else, or is it just mine? Trying to get my steps up, so far around six thousand. Also, trying to get my floor amount up too. I am up to around 14 each day. Hoping to get fit and lose this weight.

I like my fitbit, a lot!! emoticon

I have had my fit since January. Already on the second one. The Charge HR button broke off and they promptly sent a new one. Easy replacement. They even emailed saying that they would improve future fitbits so the buttons don't randomly fall off.

I love the 10,000 steps vibrate. and the cell phone caller id. This thing has made me accountable. I started out getting out of breath walking. Now I can actually jog 3 miles. I was scared to leave the street on my bike, but now I can go about 16 miles. I love knowing how much sleep I am getting. I love being accountable for what I eat. I'm right on target.

Hi, I'm new here. Just got my Fitbit today as a Mothers' Day gift. I've been on and off SparkPeople for a while but I haven't been successful. Yet!

I live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. I have no excuses to not be out there and moving. I work as a Pharmacy Assistant so I spend all day on my feet. I'm very curious to see what a fitness tracker tells me about my job.

Diane,
I'm new to this team but am a long time sparkpeople member. If there is one thing about this group of people, they in my experience, are non-judgmental and most everyone I've met (yes, face to face - I've met a number of sparkpeople) they are all supportive and encouraging. So don't be afraid to post your steps and watch as people cheer you as you meet your goals.

I'm Diane and I live in PA in the Lehigh Valley. I joined SP on Jan. 30 and have had good results. I knew I had to get serious when diagnosed w/diabetes 2. I am part of the 5% Spring challenge and have 4 lb. to go to reach my goal by 5/30.

Everyone on this team is way out of my league w/steps! I've been using my FitBit One since 1/30 and I'm only now just getting in 2500 steps/day on a regular basis. My goal this week is 2500/day and I'll increase to 3000/day for next week. I'm hesitant to post my steps on the thread because I'm not close to anyone else, so if there are any new members who are just starting on this journey and want to post on a "newbie" thread with your daily steps just let me know! Maybe Rockman will start a new thread if I ask nicely. emoticon

I'm a long time sparkpeople user, but just got my fitbit in today's mail. A mother's day gift from two of my children. I got myself synced up and am anxious to see how this works out. I've worn a pedometer for the last 6 years, not missing a day, but it's wearing out, so thought I'd go high tech. I've had the spark device, but don't really like it.

I'm Frances from SW Penna, I used to be active on the teams, but mostly have time to log food and exercise most days. If you have the sparkpeople cookbook, you can read my story in there!

Hi everyone...I'm Vicki and haven't been on SparkPeople for a few years. I just learned it syncs with my FitbitHR and I'm so happy about that!! I'm not liking MFP so much anymore. I was doing great exercising for awhile then life got in the way and I just stopped (: Time to get back to it. I'm starting T25 on Monday. What are y'all doing?

Hi Everyone,
I am so glad I learned about this SparkTeam. I joined Sparkpeople last April (2014) and have lost 42 lbs. For the last few months I have been at the same weight give or take 1-2 lbs. I have not exercised at all since I began. I started with eating Healthy all of the time and recently have been having times of indulgence. Although I am enjoying life, I want to start getting serious about exercise and losing more weight. I would like to lose another 10-15 lbs. My daughter bought me the Ftibit Zip for Mother's day so now I am excited to start using this. I hope I can figure it all out. So far it seems like I set it up correctly. Yahoo. Tomorrow I am going to Newport, RI to walk on the cliff walk with my daughter. Let the walking begin.....
Thank you in advance to everyone for their great advice. I do love the Sparkpeople site.

My DH and I are going to a Care Chiropractic thing. They deal with it all
Nutrition, exercise (TMax3)? and all over wellness, supplements.
There are a lot of good Videos on you Tube also.
with the Tmax its suppose to be like 12 min of Intense and calm workout.
like 1 min. Hard workout and 1 min at a calm pace.
We learn this Friday what that's all about.
Its Maximized Living
maybe you have heard about it.

Hi! My name is Hannah and I'm a registered dietitian from central New Hampshire. I've been a Spark member on and off for years now! Just came back after being fed up with MFP and their recent update...and realized again how much better Spark is! About 3 weeks ago, I splurged and bought my FitBit Charge HR and am loving it...well, aside from the sad realization that I'm not burning NEARLY as many calories as I thought I was while exercising (those estimations from the machines I've been using and even from the database here and on MFP were totally wrong)! That was a wake-up call! Wellness and practicing what I preach are important to me and I love living an active lifestyle!

Hi
I am Yvonne, I have used the Fitbit Flex for 1 1/2 yrs. I love it, but.....
I wanted to see what level my HR is doing so I got the Charge HR today.
I had to give up my records of my flex by adding the new one. I wanted to use which ever one I was wearing, not sure if I could have had Both on here?
Anyway my DH will get my flex.
I will make him a sparkpage so he can see his results.

Still have to see if I can sync to my Android phone. Its got the flex on it. Not sure how to go about that.
oh well one day at a time.

I am motivated to see Steps. I know when I spend too much time on the computer it hurts my daily Steps :)

When our new YMCA opens in late Summer, I will see a lot of numbers they offer so many classes. Can't wait.

Hi all!
I've been on spark people for a couple of weeks now, only just realised that I could sync my fitbit with my account!
I'm Nicole, I'm 20 from the UK. I'm a student nurse, and also work in the local hospital in my free time so that's how I get my steps in most of the time (walked 4 miles today in my 14 hour shift). Can't wait to join all the challenges and rejuvenate my motivation!

Hi - I haven't been active on this team and my FitBit has slowly disintegrated (?I think this is the right word I'm looking for - falling apart!??)... it's the older version no longer being supported. I'm not interested in a wrist band type tracker and I still have my SparkActivity Tracker. (Anyone ever read "This Perfect Day" by Ira Levin?? so that's my deal with wrist trackers...)... So anyway if I ever decide to spend that much money on a tracker, I'll consider rejoining... See you around!

Hello,
I'm new to Spark and recently got a Fitbit for my birthday because I was in desperate need to move my butt off the couch. So far it has done it's job! Something about having a little bracelet on your wrist to motivate you I just don't understand, but whatever works right? Anywhoo, I'm Laura, turned 42 this year and my goal is to run a 5k! Can't wait to join in some of the challenges emoticon

i love my fitbit Charge! It makes me conscious of how much I am moving and pushes me to get those last few steps in to make my 10K steps goal or a challenge with a friend. I also find that logging my food is helping me to see exactly where I need to add or watch my nutrients. Spark People is really helping me work toward my goals!

I Can do this....just move every day!!

Hi!! I'm Kelly. I just got my fitbit flex two days ago. So far, I love it. I am still working out the kinks, but I'm sure I'll get better at using it.

I'm glad there's a group here on SparkPeople for it. Yay!! I would love to have more friends on my fitbit if anyone is interested, send me a message.

I try to walk an average of 4.5 to 5.5 miles at least five times a week (it doesn't always happen).

I am looking forward to posting here.

Hi Fitbit people :) I have had my flex for over a year and a half used to average 10,000-12000 easily in a day , switched jobs. Stopped wearing it for a bit and now Ive been trying to get in shape and have been using it for the last two weeks.
And I'm only hitting between 5,000 and 7,000 now.

Looking for buddies on both spark and the fit bit app to help keep me motivated , and if anyone is around my activity level and wants to do challenges PLEASE LET ME KNOW :) it's so more fun to do with friends and I only have one friend who has a fit bit 😫

Hi all

I'm Teddybear4788 aka Teddy. I just got my fitbit less than a week ago and don't know why I waited so long. I love it. It is so much easier to track my steps, food and sleep with my Flex. I mainly wanted to track my sleep when I finally got it. When I've been in bed for 8 hours and feel like I haven't slept at all, I needed to know what is really going on with my sleep. I am averaging 4 to 4.75 hours of sleep a night. Not good when I still work daily. I need to be awake enough to function on a daily basis. I have been a SP member since 2011. Have lost about 30 pounds and managed to keep it off but still have a ways to go to reach healthy.

Hi Everyone,
I've had my fitbit flex since Christmas 2015, and I've been sparking since 2009.
I'm impressed with my flex, because it tracked so many steps!!
I have a paying job where I am on my feet for the entire time, and it's always tracking 12000-15000 steps. I say 'a paying job' because I also live on 5 1/2 acres out in the countryside, and we have 66 hens. On my lunch hours at the paying job, I tend to take my backpack and sell eggs door-to-door. It's really fun, to get outside and see all the smiling faces when I'm delivering eggs. It makes me feel like I'm part of the community. I am also taking an online course to be a medical transcriptionist. What that means, is that I type what the doctor records about office visits, operations, and general things that go into permanent medical records. What that means for me, is that I will be able to work from home (insert big smile here).
Unfortunately, my flex seems to have bit the dust, and is no longer tracking or maintaining a charge. After several days of my flex just stopping after 20 minutes or so, (and innumerable times that I have reset the thing) I have emailed customer service, and it's only been a day, so they haven't gotten back to me. In the meantime, I am using my husband's flex (he wasn't using his anyway) so I am still getting the positive reinforcement that I need.
I have a long row to hoe, so let's get out there and git 'er done!!!

HI everyone! Glad to find people who are using everything they can to keep moving. Fitbit certainly isn't the best, most precise exercise tracker there is, but it does a great job reminding me to move throughout the day. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Hi I am Jill and like many of you I am a long time on again - off again SP member. I have been pretty inactive for about a year. I also just found out I could sync my fitbit (which I have had about 3 years) to SP. I need to get more active and looking for a goup of great supporters!!

Jill

I'm Toni, I've been on SP for awhile, but not good about tracking anything for any length of time. I've been using a Fitbit for about a year, but just discovered that I could connect it to SP. Maybe this will help me track more regularly. I joined a gym in January and try to workout on the machines 3 times/week, and I walk on the treadmill when it's cold or rainy out. If it's nice weather, I try to walk outside. Thanks for inviting me to this forum.

My name is Ken and I've been a SP user for a while, although I was not active for a couple of years.

I gained some weight over the winter and needed motivation, so I acquired a Gazelle fitness machine and just bought a Fitbit Charge HR. I found out I can connect it to SP, so I did and decided to get back into using the website.

Hello there! I'm Amber and I live in the gorgeous state of Minnesota. I got my first fitbit Flex from work (I work at a hospital and they wanted to do a healthy employee initiative). Well, I loved it, but it died. So I bought another one. I love it. It's much easier for me to use (a.k.a. harder for me to lose) and allows me to realistically view how active I've been in a day. No more lying to myself. :)

Hiyas!
Lynx from California. Just got a Fitbit Charge and loving it! Been on Spark just over two weeks and loving it too :)
My goal isn't as much a number on the scale, but how I feel and how my clothes fit. For the first time I've tackled my fear of strength training and have incorporated weights into my life. After just two weeks I can already see and feel a difference. My 41 birthday is the third week of June, so I started a 12 week program that ends the day before my birthday. Hoping to bring in my new year feeling and looking fabulous.
Thanks for having me as part of your team :).

Hey guys I'm Shez and I'm from the UK. Just bought a fitbit flex as the last one I had I snapped the clasp off and it wouldn't sync anymore! So just got this today and synced it with spark. Really hoping it helps me track a little better!

Hi everyone,

I'm Linda and I'm a Fitbit devotee. Wore a Flex for about a year and a half, and just replaced it with a Charge HR. Lost 50 pounds ~2 years ago and have kept it off (with some up and downs and tradeoffs, but exercise has been key in my ability to maintain). I'm a 64 year old single mother and, when my daughter moved out on her own several years ago I turned her bedroom into a very well appointed home gym (so no excuses - REALLY). I absolutely love using Fitbit, and adore SP, which I've been on since around 2005. Both are terrific tools that I consider to be indispensable.

But the food tracking between SP and Fitbit does have its issues ... such as nothing that you've customized as a SP "group" carries over. And if you make changes in SP after entering a food, you have to go into Fitbit and make those changes manually. So I tend to use SP for accurate nutritional tracking and workout sessions, and Fitbit for steps, heartrate monitoring, general calorie burn, etc.

I look forward to continuing improvements in the interactivity between SP and Fitbit, because I'm not giving either of them up!! And I look forward as well to the inspiration, mutual encouragement and exchange of stories & "tips" available on this team.

Hi, I'm Maya. This is my third week with my FB flex, loving it. Honestly, I'm stumped by the number of steps logged in by the members here! 20000 steps in a day, I struggle to reach 10000! I have my goal set at 6500, most days I'm just shy of few steps from reaching 6500. Have to admit this itty bitty thing motivates me to walk every single day!

Have a wonderful day ahead!
