Hello,

My name is Lisa and I have been one SparkPeople for a little over a month. I got my Fitbit about a week ago and feel slightly addicted to pinching that little display and checking my stats already. I love that I'm not missing those 'accidental' exercise tracking, like wandering around a swap meet last weekend, that add up but I would miss without this little gadget. Looking forward to the benefits of combining both these tools to help me on my journey.

Hi! I just started using SparkPeople again after not logging in for a few years and I am new to this team. I've decided I really can't let my weight go any higher and my best friend and I are checking in with each other daily, as she's trying to lose weight as well. I tend to go "all or nothing" when I start trying to lose weight and end up giving up so I'm reminding myself constantly to take baby steps and that I can't overhaul all my habits at the same time. I'm so happy I can link my Fitbit to the app. I've been doing short cardio videos on my breaks as I am currently working from home, so I feel really good about being able to do that, though my legs were wondering what the heck I was doing this morning! I'm really hoping that, with the help of this site and my best friend and my husband that I can make my changes stick this time.

HI!I just found this team and am excited to find out that I can link my Fitbit to SparkPeople! I've been on & off Sparkpeople since 2009. I lost 50 lbs with Weigh Watchers but during the recession, I lost my job, had to quit WW and was diagnosed with leukemia. I relocated from Florida back up north to Rochester, NY, found a good job and am doing well with my leukemia meds. I also gained back all of the weight I lost plus some. So disappointed in myself. Since the pandemic began I have been working from home so my steps have gone way down. I think we may finally be getting some warm weather so I'll start getting outside more and can hopefully get up to 5,000 steps a day more easily. I'm hoping by Fall to have more energy and feel more like myself.

Greeting All. Chrissi from LaGrange, IL here. I signed up on SP many years ago, lost 20+ pounds, life happened and I put all of it back on and a few more. I didn't have a fitbit for about 3 years but now have an Inspire 2. Feels good to have a fitbit back. I am for 5000-6000 steps per day as my body allows me to. If I push too hard I end up out of commission for a day two. I've done it before, I can do it again. Cheers to a new start. (Typed from my phone on 5-11-2021)

I am adding to my intro now that I'm typing on my laptop. So much easier to do! LOL What else would I like to add?? Okay, here goes.

I am a Licensed Massage Therapist who focuses on Palliative/Hospice/End-of-Life Massage Therapy, I am a Hopsice Volunteer with Angels Grace Hospice who is hoping to get back to visiting people again soon, I am a member of Threshold Choir and excited to be able to start meeting in person with my chapter again after over a year, and I am an End-of-Life Planning Advocate (better known as a Death Doula) who helps people create their plans for their End-of-Life and what they do or do not want done in certain health situations.

I have been married to my hubby for 18 years (well, in September it'll be 18 years) and we've been together for 19 years (as of August anyway LOL). We have 2 teenage boys, ages 16 (will be 17 in September) and 14 (just turned in January). We also have a 3.5 year old Chihuahua/Lab mix rescue dog (his name is Lucky) who keeps me walking 2 - 3 times a day. I hope to someday get Lucky trained as a Therapy Dog because he is just the perfect size to visit people and actually hop up onto a bed or into a lap in a wheelchair.

I don't know what else to add at this point. :-) Want to learn more about me, feel free to visit my blog as I'm pretty open and honest there. I'm always up for new SparkFriends too.

Looking forward to getting healthier day by day. :-)

Hi everybody. I got a Fitbit more than a year ago. I had a really bad year but things are looking up, so I activated the FitBit yesterday and am still getting used to it. I actually did some walking today to, as I said, "make the machine on my wrist happy." Hope everyone's having a good day; husband's feeling depressed because M-Day just emphasizes our loss of our moms. Trying to stay positive and active.

Hello everyone! My name is Joan and after months of both owning a Fitbit and being on Sparkpeople I found out yesterday that they could be linked. LOL. I finally decided to start losing weight last year in August when I stepped on the scale and it said 349. I had never been that big and it was the wake up call I needed. Fast forward to almost nine months later and I've lost 110 pounds!

I keep getting sparkmail to introduce myself. Quick blurb

Not new. Been on Spark many many years; just not much participation on this team page.

Walking is my drug of choice. I use the Walk at Home app, and follow Pahla B fitness on Youtube. Yesterday I purchased a foldable exercise bike to add to my rotation. Will start with 5 min a day.

Good morning everyone! I am from Ontario Canada and am so happy to have found this forum. I have been a member for many years but haven't really been active again until a few weeks ago when I thought I would give Sparkpeople a try again. My weight has crept back up again. I can't seem to get it under control. I know what I am suppose to do, but just can't put it in action. If I can manage to loose 20 pounds I will be so happy. I believe that together we can all achieve our goals!

Hi. I'm Jen. I really want this to be a year of change. I haven't been great about consistency since coming back to SP. I am going to try to be more engaged with SparkTeams, as I think the community side of this may help keep me accountable and motivated. I have a FitBit Charge 3, and am working on increasing my daily step goal. I am more active on weekends but need to work on being more active on work days.

I’m Teri from Cambridge Ontario in the process of planning a move to Nova Scotia get out of Ontario’s rat race. I’ve been on Spark since 2007 I lost 60 lbs. I’ve gained it all back and more. I had previous Fitbit’s Charge, ChargeHR a clip on one I forget the name. I lost it. The Charge’s were replaced a few times. Bands kept breaking and separating. I stopped using them in 2017. DD just bought me an Inspire2 for Mother’s Day. So far I love it.
I’m going to be sparking for life now, yahoo’s tracking is the only thing that works for me. All the other perks on Spark also help.

Hey y'all from Alabama. I am Frances and have been on Spark forever! Have had a FitBit for a few years but it wasn't until the pandemic that I have been actually motivated to get all my steps in. Before the pandemic, I did good to get 5,000. Now I get an average of 15,000 steps a day. Being with other members and doing the challenges like Get Fit Bingo keeps me walking some all day long. Glad to be here among FitBit Friends!

Today is the best day to begin making changes for yourself and others both inside and out!

Hello! My name is Allie. I am just coming back to Spark and I am really trying to get on track. I've owned several Fitbit over the last several years and I feel lost without it on my wrist. I have just recently joined a fun dance class called NIA and get 6 to 7000 steps from that and then the rest in house cleaning, walking the dog etc. I really would like to step it up, lol, seriously, and push myself to at least 12,000. Nice to meet you all.

My first name is Bea and I live in western Montana. Married 49 years, will be 50 in June. We're retired. 5 son's, 7 grandkids. I've had Fitbit for about 1 and half years. I received it as a gift. It's one thing I never desired to have but decided to make the best of it and discovered I like it.

I get 15,000 to 23,000 steps a day.. I used to get more but a knee replacement slowed me down.

Hi! Spark People is wonderful, but I got to a point where I felt I needed more help. My husband gave me a gift card for Christmas. When I went to the store's website, the first thing I saw was a Fitbit. I decided that was what I'd get since I've wanted one for a long time. Now that I've synced it with Spark People, I'm getting even more accuracy about what I am doing. I've been on Spark People for at least 4 years, and I was on it briefly before that for a short time. Discouragement set in when I didn't always have access to the Internet at work (and no internet capable phone). After a visit to a new doctor, it was a wakeup call I needed. My life changed that day. I had already lost about 16 pounds, but realized I needed to lose a lot more. The new practitioner basically told me I was in trouble. To have accountability, I rejoined SP. I lost a grand total of 125 pounds. Unfortunately, I still found out I had a heart valve defect which resulted in a replacement nearly 2 years ago. The same practitioner who told me I was in trouble told me, shortly before my surgery, that the weight loss may have led to an earlier diagnosis which probably saved my life! Also, about halfway through my weight loss journey, I fell and broke my shoulder. Thankfully, a recumbent bike allowed me to continue exercising, and the weight loss continued. Two of my former college classmates introduced me to SP and helped me learn how to use this site. Unfortunately, while I haven't contracted Covid-19, I did retire in order to protect myself. Not so sure that was the right thing to do. I gained back 20 pounds, and I had already gained back 10. Recently, I've gotten back on the program and seem to be doing very well. I'll tell you more in future posts and threads.

Hi, i was doing great walking last year until I got a stress fracture in late July. Then in October I fell while on a 3 hr hike twisting my knee and breaking a bone. So I am just now getting back to walking more but sadly have to do it gradually.

Hi, my name is Laura and my walking buddy is Coco. I have had a fitbit charge 2 for several years. It has been a great product for the price (around a hundred bucks, 4 or 5 years ago). The bands wear out from time to time, other than that, I have no complaints. Coco and I are fortunate to live in a climate where outdoor exercise is possible year round. I do NOT like to work out. I like to walk. l Sometimes I will over do it and get some recurring joint pain so even though I can walk 3 to 5 miles a day, it is not always a good idea. As far as working out? I would rather stack firewood than go to a gym! Nice to meet the team! Spark On! emoticon

Hi, my name is Jean. I'm on the 3rd full day of my new Fitbit (Inspire 2), still trying to figure it all out :) I've been doing really good at eating healthy and exercising for almost a year now, and I think the Fitbit will help me continue. Plus it's a nice reward for my hard work.

Hi Fitbit team!
My name is Ivy, I am a mother of 3 grown kiddos, a dog and been married for almost 24 years. We live in beautiful Carlsbad,CA where we are fortunate to have nice weather most of the year. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for over 10 years. I had great success utilizing the tools that Spark offers and love the community. Over the last few years I have neglected myself and have not been accountable for my lack of exercise and eating whatever I felt...obviously the weight has crept back on. I have now committed to getting my rear in gear and stop feeling bad about my decisions and get up and move and make better food choices. My fitbit is a great tool and am happy that the tracker links nicely to the app (SUCH A BONUS!!) I am excited for the new year and new life choices! Happy Tracking all!!!

Exercise is self care NOT punishment for what I ate

Hi Sparkles,

I am a long time fitbit user. I read that Women need 7500 steps a day to live longer. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/29/health/step
s-womens-health-study/index.html
So that's what my goal is. I put a little sticker on my paper calendar every day that I hit that.

I am going to "up my game" by adding other exercises - to improve my strength, flexibility, balance and stamina.

Welcome 2021 (and good riddance 2020!)

Good morning all! My name is Maricela and I have been a loooong time member of SparkPeople (circa 2006), but an unsuccessful member as I continually fall off the wagon, mess up on my health & weightloss journey, and come and go from SP. I'm determined to make it stick this time around. I have ALL the tools anyone looking to loose weight could want and now it's up to me to make it happen. I love using my FitBit to keep myself accountable and I love the "party in my wrist" as I often call it when I reach my goal steps for any given day.

Hi my name is Joyce and I have joined and left this team a number of times, mostly because I ended up on too many teams and felt I wasn't being a good team member if I couldn't participate fully. I am close to my goal weight and it seems to be getting harder and harder to lose plus I have been a little off in exercising, hoping to get back on track.

Happy walking.

Hello, I successfully used SparkPeople (several years) ago, I am returning with my new Versa 2 and plan to get back down to about 145 lbs (currently about 170-ish).

Would someone help me with how to sync my Versa 2 wth Sparkpeople?
The Sparkpeople account shows that I have a Fitbit but does not show the data from the Fitbit?

Any suggestions or ideas would be sooooo appreciated!

Thank you from New Mexico!

Hi, I have the basic fitbit and really need to get moving. I am 72 and basically a slug. I prefer quilting and sewing to walking but my thighs are telling me I need to move! They lock up with muscle spasms so I need some motivation. Is there any other slug out there that might like to inch forward? And be a buddy. I lost 34 lbs in 2017 and slowly gained back 20 after battling breast cancer. That is no excuse though. Aiming to get better. Carol

Hello all! I'm Ellie, a graduate student looking to get healthy and lose 50ish lbs!

I started SparkPeople nearly 5 months ago and got my FitBit charge 4 four months ago but none of my friends in real life use one so I haven't tried any of the team challenges... Then I realized today that surely there's a SparkPage for FitBit users and here you are! I'm hoping to get some friends to invite me to some team challenges so I can see what they're all about! My username is EllieTheScientist. Add me if you're looking for someone to do challenges with!

I'm new as well and also from Alabama like Anna below. (Anna, are you in the Spirited Underdogs team?)

This is my first Fitbit and I only just got it going. Don't see how/where to sync it with SparkPeople. I mean, the SparkPeople app shows I have a Fitbit, but it doesn't show where it will log my steps with it.

As for myself, I'm 58, have had lupus for 18 years and now other medical problems. I am relatively new to SP as a way to get my weight and health as good as they can be under the circumstances. In 2 months, I haven't lost any weight, but I'm doing well as far as the SP program. Am hoping that with iron infusions--just started--and better sleep, I may start to drop some pounds.

My husband and I are going on a road trip to Gettysburg in less than 2 weeks, and I esp. wanted a Fitbit to help me stay active on the trip. We'll be driving through the Smokies, Blue Ridge Hwy, and Shenandoah Skyline Drive--hoping we can stop along the way and find some easy hikes. Also hope we'll be able to find healthy food along the way.

Good Saturday Morning to everyone! It seems like I've been on SparkPeople forever over the years, but I just came back for this latest go round in August. My name is Tammi, recently moved back to Florida for my son's health as well as my own. Not to mention we love the weather and everything there is to do around here compared to where we were at in NC. I'm a disabled vet, so walking is my go to for my physical activity, and finally found a Dr. a couple of years ago that actually listened to what I was saying about my weight and how difficult it was to lose anything and keep it off. Turns out I'm insulin resistant and my body's chemistry was working against me. With the move I have new doctors that have me on a restrictive diet - a sugar cleanse if you will, to get my insulin production levels back down to normal and hopefully I get to stop taking so many pills. My current goal is 7500 steps a day and working towards that magical 10,000 - which I did hit yesterday but I'd be lying if I said there was no pain involved. The ultimate goal is 10k a day, everyday.

Hi everybody! I live in hot, humid Florida and have a Versa Lite that I really like. I was using two different kinds of Garmin watches and all kinds of problems with them. One was kind of expensive and I thought it would be better but wasn't so I am back with FitBit and love it! I have no problems syncing at all. Looking forward to meeting my goals and the best to you all. emoticon

Hello Fitbit team,
This looks like a good place to get reacquainted with using my Fitbit. I was decluttering the basement and found my Fitbit. It got lost during a move several years ago. I am quite delighted to have found it again.

I love how readily it tracks my activity and sends it to Spark People.

My Fitbit is helping motivate me to get out that door and MOVE. . .

Hi, I have been a member for a while but just started using my cell phone and Fitbit for Spark. And I like it very much. I have been a Type 2 Diabetic for 8 years and have been doing my best to stay on track and all. Around the time I became a diabetic, I had a hysterectomy and it has been a few months that I discovered that I have been having issues with my sugar staying within range and A1c going up. I had a doctor's appt this past Friday (Aug 7) and was telling her about some symptoms and we agreed that I have entered menopause. Probably been in it for a while. Now I know why my sugar has been elevated and I am acting accordingly to get it back to normal range. She also upped my dosage on the Metformin I have been taken so that will help too. Just wanted to say hi, introduce myself, glad that I decided to come back to Spark. So Hello everyone!

Hi I'm Carolyn from Northeast Tennessee I have been on Spark for 2 months and just found out that I could sync my Fitbit I am trying to learn how to get around all the options on Spark People. I am here to lose weight and need accountability and support and encouragement. I hope to find all of these here.
I am working on increasing my activity and stamina. I have arthritis, which limits me somewhat. I have not been able to do water exercises due to the COVID shutdown. I hope things get back to normal soon.

Hello there!
I too have been away from SP for awhile. When the Fitbit One was brand new I joined the Fitbit family; however, as my interest grew, I moved to Garmin. Now with the takeover at Garmin I may just stay on Fitbit for awhile. So when I attached my One to SP I was greeted by this team.

I'm retired and love to travel, but of course with things the way they are I've had to put the kibosh on things. I've set up a gym in my home to keep active, but miss the connections with people. Hopefully being back on SP will ease that some.

Another day older. Another day bolder.

Hello, I am looking to stay motivated. I am a mother of 2 grown children my DS is in the Marine Corps and my DD is in college. DH and I are retired and doing what we enjoy. I'm a longtime Sparker too and just restarted two weeks ago. Working from home kicked my butt too, but I've been needing to restart for a long time and here I am. I recently got a Charge 3 and I love it. It's been very motivating to use it for tracking.

Hey y'all -- I'm Sonya. I've been a member of SP for a long time, but haven't been here for a while. During those years, I got divorced and decided to finish my degree. The stress of that life change, my math classes, and being in quarantine, I've gained 20-25 pounds, which is not working for me.

Originally, I pulled out my little Spark Activity Tracker, but was disappointed to discover SP doesn't use those anymore. I used to LOVE that thing! So, I remembered I had the original Fitbit Charge. Now I'm ready to get started! emoticon

Hi! I just started SP a few days ago and got my fitbit yesterday. I'm excited to track my activity. My husband and I are recent empty nesters. During this covid isolation I've gained too much weight. Here I go - getting active!

Hi I'm Steph. I've been on SP for a little over a month now. I've had a Fitbit since 2015, on my 3 one now! I live in Pennsylvania with my hubby of almost 19 years, 2 kids (17 & 13) and 3 Great Danes. I love the days when I can reach my goals of Fitbit and I having been trying really hard for about a week now so get myself back to where I get the 10,000 (at least) steps a day.

I am not new to SP having tried on and off far too many times! I recently got a Fitbit and I am so happy with how it motivates me... I am a number geek and it definitely gives me the facts. Im not good at figuring out how/where to post but will try. I want to tell you all what an inspiration you are and how much I appreciate your posts.

Thanks for the invite. I have been on spark people for a month or so I am new. I had just got this Fitbit a couple months ago after a couple friends of mine have it so I could compete in challenge with them but I use my Apple Watch for workouts because Fitbit doesn’t have the hr and I really like my Apple Watch.

I have a BLAZE. I've had it for 3-4 years. I just keep replacing the band.
I am a stay-at home-boy mom, who until this Covid never stayed home. We are typically active. camping hiking boating... One of my boys love anything extreme, so skateparks, bike parks, and trampoline parks. I have become active on spark trying to loose some pound and gain some strength and mobility so I can keep up with the boys!

Finally got my Fitbit all fixed and am ready to go again. Since I retired in February I have found my activity to be decreased, so looking to find ways to get more active.

Rich in my opinion is measured by those who love you and by how many friends you have, not by the amount of money one has!!!

Therefore, I AM rich!!!

I've had my Charge 3 since Dec & finally getting around to joining this team. I have a bad back & discovered the other day that I can walk without pain if I use a walker. I started out with 3,000 steps as my goal, but have surpassed it. My goal now is 5,000 steps which I have been able to do. Eventually, I'll get to 10,000.

HI everyone,

I just bought a fitbit because as I felt it may help me get my groove back. Not to mention that our company is doing a 6 week fitness, get up and move program because of everything going on, and I'm in the grocery business. I'm ready to get that extra push!

New Fitbit user as of a few weeks ago. Still getting used to tracking. Weighing myself when doing the intro for Fitbit put me into shock and back to Sparking.

Hi! Everyone! I am sort of new to using a fitbit, but the one thing that I love is that it reminds me to get up and move around. I have a fairly sedentary job, but I know that when I get that hourly "buzz" I haven't moved enough. Definitely keeping me more aware of movement which is good. I am a Registered nurse, but I work with people who perform dialysis at home. My job can be very active or very sedentary. It seems there is very little in between. Thanks for the invite to the group!
