MILLIE, I find reading the articles and watching the videos is extremely motivating. Also by tracking your food and fitness helps you to see patterns and where you can improve. Good luck with your journey, we are here to support one another so ask questions and share what has worked for you.

Hi all,
I have been a member of SP for a while but like others have left and returned several times. This time finally feels right. I am feeling comfortable in my own skin finally and eating healthy is not the big struggle it was before. I am determined to lose the weight and could use some friendly motivators to keep me going! emoticon

I joined SparkPeople in 2008. I was on the site quite a bit. I began to slack off. I went from 155 to 209 gradually as time went on. I have had so many health problems occur. I had Graves Disease that turned to Hypothyroidism.
About 1 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with Lupus & Sjogren's Syndrome. I think I got it under control, except in February. My mom died from Lymphoma. We were very close. It was so hard on me.
Then the end of March, I had a mini-stroke. Luckily, I got all my movement back.
I began my weight loss again in January. I was 209. As of Sunday, Apr. 6, I weigh 177.8. I have to loss this weight for my health. I have to do it for me. I just sit the and say.....
"LET'S GO FOR IT!!!"

I am ready.

Hi everyone, I am a 51 year old widow of 7 years. Have been a yogini for 35 years , starting at a young age because of my family's serious health and weight issues.
I have started a new relationship with a wonderful man. I am the ying to his yang emoticon . We eat pretty much differently since I am not supposed to have wheat or artificial sweeteners because of the inflammatory properties in them. But we make it work. Two back surgeries have put me about 30 pounds ( according to the charts ) overweight. However, I rarely go by that because I lift weights and am very active . Muscle weighs a lot more than fat. I do however want to get back to feeling healthy so I am going to go for 20 pounds and if I feel great at 10 so be it, that is where I will balance it out. I look forward to getting to know everyone !

Laura,

Hi Janel, I have seen great exercises for limited mobility here on SP, check them out. Even if you can't do all of them, you might be able to find some that you can do. I look forward to getting to know you and seeing your journey unfold. Thanks to both you and your husband for your service.

Hi Tonya, welcome, hope you found your home here in this group. I just started SP on 2/6 and have had a terrific month. I am looking forward to seeing what March has to bring for my journey. If I can help you in anyway, please let me know. I am a great cheerleader to help people on their own journeys. emoticon

Hello from Tennessee! Beautiful day here today! My name is Tonya, Terrific Tonya Heathco, Founder of National Seizure Disorders Foundation . Mother of three and grandma of three. Member of SP for a few years. I'm testing a few groups at a time here to see which is the right one for me. I currently am leader at Positive Seizure Management Team here on SP. My strengths are my faith, my perseverance, my positive mindset, and my love for all creation( I even appreciate the "bad" stuff). My weaknesses are prioritization of self care( putting my own care first, including exercise), my personal experience with seizure disorder, and my memory. I'm looking for a team that will inspire me to daily action and entice me to visit each day or at least twice a week to participate. Possible this is the team for me!

Blessings -

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 92 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 92 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hi everybody! My name is Janel . I am 43 wife to Paul - we will have our 25th wedding anniversary in June and mom to 4 boys. My husband and I were both active duty in the Air Force. I work full time and I am in graduate school and I am just seeking out some friends who can support me on my journey and I can do the same for them. Right now I need alot of support because I hurt my back at work and I cannot exercise or move around too much so I am really trying hard to stick to my plan. I can't wait to meet you all. :)

Hi all, my name is Sharon. I have just joined Spark people again after a long time. I recently joined a gym about a week and a half ago and have been 3 times so far. I am 62 years old, have 3 grown children and live in Colorado. I am looking forward to being part of this group and my goal is 84 pounds to lose. I look forward to getting to know everyone and being part of the motivation that will inspire others to continue their journey to health.
