I (soon to be 76yrs. Old, and hubby almost 80yrs old.)
Are the parents of a 52yr. Old son with spreading cancer. 9mos. Ago he was x with Colon cancer. But, it was already spread he has cancer cells in the abdomen cavity.
He had surgery with a colostomy and a stent in the rt. Urethra.

He went through 12 treatments plus the pump. When done, waited two wks. Cts. Later biopsy. As there were 3 suspicious spots on his liver.

This past Wednesday we learned the spots are indeed cancerous. So, it's back on Chemo the first of June. Probably indefinitely.

John is single, his sisters (our daughters ) live out of state. He has HOME HEALTH CARE twice a week.

At this stage 4 he knows what he is facing. He talks about death and going to Heaven.

He has an urgency about getting things done and places to go. The two of us are trying to fulfill his wants and needs.

It's just so overwhelming.

I honestly don't know how I will deal with it!

Welcome. I am sorry to hear about your husband. Dealing with cancer in the family is very difficult. And taking care of yourself is even harder because all of your energy is going to him. Try to set aside at least 30 minutes a day for just you. Changing your lifestyle to lose weight takes time and practice and learning new habits, but it will make taking care of him easier for you. And he will do better if he eats healthier, too..

Hi. I'm a 45-year-old mother of one (19y.o). My husband was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer a year and a half ago. Life is pretty tough right now as he has had so many different treatments, which have ended up leaving him very weak.
I've joined Spark People to try and focus on taking care of myself a bit. emoticon
