I will look up "pill packs" Thank you!
We use a plastic box made of little square compartments, each with an attached lid. The box is marked across the top for days of the week, and the lids say Morning, Noon, Evening, Night for each day. It lasts two weeks. We fill each compartment according to the current medications his doctor wants him to take. A couple of them change a lot.

Michael is in hospital until Wednesday, on chemo. My chanllenge is to stay on the Spark diet. There's no one here to be accountable to, a house full of junk food Michael eats, and you know the feeling when you can finally relax a little. I'm an emotional eater.

Hi Fabtab, have you ever heard of pill packs. The medication is put in special blister packs for you so there is less change of mix up. I find them great, It reminds when was the last dose, or if I have forgotten a dose. Great invention.

i feel so loved. Thanks for all the welcoming, understanding greetings. I'm working hard to stay focused. Today's task is to make a list of priorities, and to fill Michael's two-week pill box. The suggestions about calling churches for rides, taking care of myself are spot-on. Thanks!
Michael says his doctors are talking about harvesting his stem cells and freezing them. They would be ready in case he goes for the stem cell transplant. There is hope in that. A transplant can add five years of life. Meanwhile, we FINALLY have sun, so I can enjoy walking. TAB

Hi and welcome to the group - though I am sorry that you need this group. My husband also has terminal lung cancer and is suffering badly. I will keep you and your husband in my prayers and hopefully he will not suffer too much.

I wish you emoticon to brighten up your day a little.

Terrel - That sux about your husband's cancer. I hope they can get control of it.

You might contact some aid groups in your area. We have some here that can take patients to appointments, and you may have something similar there. Your nearest church may help too. Worth a phone call or two.

Good luck to both of you!

TAB,
You certainly sound like you have you're hands full! Finding a church or volunteer group sounds like a great idea! I'm sure members of a volunteer group would be willing to pick you up if the meetings are too far for you to walk. So sorry to hear about your hubby's condition. Prayers are headed to you! Keep us posted.

Hello everyone.
I'm Terrel, here because my husband's cancer affects my health and weight. Michael is in hospital until Tuesday, doing chemo. We have two more chemo's (five days, then a 18 or 19 day break). The doc says two more of these, then we'll just wait and see. Michael was about to retire when the cancer hit. He's had three tumors removed from his spine so far. Blood tests did not show there was a tumor growing the last time. The only tool we have now is symptoms from a new tumor and occasional MRI's. As the cancer spreads through bone marrow, it gives off a protein that builds up, thickens the blood, and overloads kidneys. The blood cells he's able to produce are "weak", and immune system is extremely impaired.

I have epilepsy and some vision in one eye, so I can't drive. No family in the area. Since I don't work, no friends. Want to find a church or volunteer work I can walk to. Mostly, I need to learn how to FOCUS. I get distracted by every groan and moan, every time I think I hear Michael fall or drop something, and I watch the clock for his 4 times/day meds. Since I haven't worked much, I'm totally stressed about ignorance of Michael's finances. We aren't legally married or I'd lose health insurance. Oregon is a great state for protecting domestic partners, though.

Anyway, I need a place where I can stay focused on ONE thing for me, cuz I'm going nuts, putting on weight, fatigued (no hard exercise). Thanks for listening. TAB
