Hi everyone -

TYMBERWOLFE: How are you and your partner doing. Have anything been done with the blister on her breast? Would love to hear from you again.

My prayers are with you also! I know the pain of watching the love of your life go through one medical problem after another. It is such a feeling of helplessness. You are right there by their side holding their hand and walking the path with them but it's so hard to not be able to take their pain away. I have thought more than a few times I wish it were me instead of her. Then that depression seeps in when they begin to just say, "screw it I'm sick of being sick" and you then have to play counselor as well as caretaker and loving partner/wife. The exhaustion of sleepless nights and countless doctor's appointment...just take care of yourself too and know that you have my support...all of our support. I do feel it with this team and I am so glad to have found you all. Peace be with you may the small blessings give you strength to fight another day and the day after that. I started posting little things on my fb page like the little raccoon prints I found on my steps this morning and my cat sitting on the windowsill watching the ice melt and fall from the trees...

Hello everyone

I had a dr's visit for dh yesterday. I received the results of his latest lung X-rays. There is a new small spot on the X-ray. The main tumor is about the same. My dh has had a pain in his right side since November. The doctor thinks it is a cartilage problem, but it could also be the cancer spreading. He suggested a hot water bottle for now and Tylenol. If the pain gets worse he may need radiation to ease the pain. He also went to see his eye specialist last week. He told me that dh has cataracts in both eyes and will need surgery to remove them. One more thing to add to the list. Oh well, life goes on....................

I'm so sorry you're going through so much right now. With everything you're dealing with, sounds like a lighter load may be just what you need. I do, however, hope you're able to get your partner to the doctor as soon as possible to get the place on her incision checked out. Praying for you both that everything is okay.

Sorry it took so long to answer. I had to leave sick from student teaching for a week and then drop some credits. With my fibromyalgia I just could not hold up. My University supervisor for my student teacher helped me make special arrangements to continue student teaching but with lowered credits which means I will be doing this during the Spring also. I feel like I admitted failure but the truth is I could not keep up that kind of pace and it works out the best for my family. With the winter storm I ended up with 2 weeks off which has been good. On the other hand my partner has developed what looks like a large blister on her incision...it looks like a deep purple bruise underneath and a big blister on top. We were supposed to go see the surgeon today but due to this ice storm it was cancelled. I am worried.

Hi Tymberwolfe - sorry to hear that you and your partner are going through such a difficult time. I say you and your partner because I believe that the caregiver is almost as important as the person who is ill. By being a caregiver, you are giving the person you are caring for the time to get well without worring about everything. Hats off to both of you.

My dh was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer two years ago. He is hanging tough and the tumor seems to have stopped growing for the moment (tumor is about the size of an egg.)

You have my support anytime you need it.

I wish you good health

Dianne

My partner was diagnosed with breast cancer in November. Since then it has been a crazy ride to a mastectomy just before Christmas. I have been going to school full time finishing my masters and started student teaching 2 weeks before her surgery. I have found myself overwhelmed with caring for her, school, a teenage daughter, and most of all worrying. I love her so much. I decided maybe a little support would be good because even though I want to think I can do it all on my own...my stress gets the best of me sometimes. Well, enough introduction we are off to a follow-up appointment from the surgery.
