I started my Spark Journey at the beginning of June and was having great success but have had to face some illness with my parents.

At the end of September, my 77-year old Mom had some abdominal pain and went to the ER. The pain subsided (they think it was indigestion) but they stumbled on a large mass in her colon through an ultrasound. She has just come home from a 5-week stay in the hospital where they removed a large tumour from her colon. I will be taking her to a cancer clinic in January where an oncologist will determine aftercare.

The same week my Mom was diagnosed, my 79-year old Dad landed in the ER and was admitted to the hospital for a week. Again, it was completely unrelated but tests revealed a spot on his lung. The needle biopsy came back negative but the PET scan showed signs of activity. He will be having 1/3 of his right lung removed in the next couple of months. There is concern that it is also cancer.

I am the youngest of 3 daughters but am the primary caregiver for my parents who still live on their own independently. I am trying to cope with this day by day but have days that I really struggle with my fears. Your support would be very much welcomed.
