Hi everyone, I just joined. Found out yesterday that my Mom may have breast cancer...she found a lump in her arm pit. We are hoping for the best, but won't know anything for a bit. Her doctor was supposed to call her back last week and never did.

This all started when her doctor told her it was time for a mammogram...and when she called to set it up...they asked her if there was any change; and that is when she told them she had found the lump. Sot they told her that she had to go through her doctor first.

Angie...14.7 pounds lost so far

I need to take control of my weight!

Lung Cancer most often goes to the brain as it moves "up" in the body. I'm glad she is getting good treatment as that is what matters.

I was so sorry to read your post about your mother and know how hard this is but hang in there and take it one day at a time. Right now you are overwhelmed by it all but you will be able to handle it better as the reality sinks in a little more. The medical field has come a long way in the last 40 years so research if you feel you need to for your own peace of mind. Will be keeping all of you in prayer.

God be with you,

...this is not the Sparkteam that I thought I'd ever need to join. On May 4th, my mom was diagnosed with Non Small Cell Lung Cancer. I had only been married 9 days when we got the news. On April 15th, we thought she had a stroke. All the classic symptoms...slurred speech, weakness on one side of the body, tingling sensations. A CT scan showed multiple suspicious lesions on her brain. That was what was making the stroke symptoms. A full body scan showed a spot (about as big as a fingernail) on her lung and a spot on her adrenal gland. On May 11th she started the first of 10 radiation treatments with a possible 6 more. She will then go through 6 chemo treatments. I feel totally lost at this point. Everything happened so suddenly, no symptoms before that first day.

Thank you for letting me get that off my chest.

Teresa
