Welcome to the group! Because of SparkPeople, and the healthy habits I learned and acquired here, I was 30 pounds lighter this christmas day than last and I'm really proud of that. And in all honesty it really wasn't that hard to achieve - a few changes here and there incorporated slowly into my life and before you know it I am eating less and exercising more, a weight loss combination for sure!

My suggestion on top of the ones already given is to plan your daily meals. About once a week I plan a list of meals and then the grocery list for those meals. So each day when I get home from work I know exactly what I am going to make (or whats in the slow cooker already made!) and then I have leftovers to bring to work for lunch the next day. I'd also suggest having just a handful of breakfasts that you choose between - boiled eggs, oatmeal, toast & tea, healthy cereal, etc.

I find having the guesswork - and unhealthy choices - out of my mealtimes has really helped me stay on track.

Welcome to the group! Michy has made some excellent suggestions already. Two that I would add are drinking lots and lots of water (you'll be surprised how much that helps!) and using these message boards for support. If you check in daily, or at least every other day, it does help you feel more connected to the group and stay focused on your goals. Be patient with yourself too -- you have a lot to deal with right now!

Welcome to the group. It's always hard trying to find time for yourself. You have to make "YOU" your main priority. With others to take care of, it's difficult, but you need to focus on you for your meals; plan healthy meals, fresh fruits and veggies; lean meat. Try to find some time for exercise - a walk and some small weights at home in the evening.

This is it..I am 46 and when i look back on 2007 I spent more time and energy looking at ways to lose weight, but i am no lighter than I was last year at this time, As a working mom with elderly parents, I find I lose focus. My intensions are geat, but as soon as I get tired or stress I blow it..I am hoping that a support group such as this will help emoticon emoticon emoticon
